Normally I can get by these on my own, but my friend is having frequent BSoD and I'm very unfamiliar with this one.

Probably caused by : ntoskrnl.exe ( nt+22f13 ) Minidump attached. (There were several, but they were all the same. This is the most recent one.)
I've been getting a BSOD, and I can't seem to pin down what might be causing it. I've attached the minidump to this.

So, unhappy with the amount of processes from HP and also vista taking up the laptop's performance, I decided to re-install Windows Xp 64 Bit OS. The first thing I do is pop in the install CD, which takes me to the "WIndows setup starting.. etc, and says loading drivers, etc, and as soon as it gets to "Windows setup is starting up.. (the one after it loads the neccessary files) I immediately bluescreen with this message : A problem has been detected.......
I came back from shopping with the laptop frozen so I turned it off. It started with a BSOD. The BCCode is 116. My wife said that it had completed some updates this AM when she turned it on. This computer has a GE7600 video card. It also runs very hot so I'm wondering if perhaps the card might have cooked. Should I try to reinstall the driver?

Hardware and disk test OK.I believe it is most likely a corrupted windows file or registry.I have the OEM restore disks.Q1. will the restore discs overwrite the data? I suspect they will.Q2. Can I get to the restore point if i can boot the machine to DOS?Q3. What other tactic other than restoring from scratch might work?
I am trying to fix a friends notebook but every time I turn on the computer it takes me to the safe mode selection and which ever mode I select, it starts loading but breaks out to the blue screen with the following error: 0x001902030x8e572b80xc00001020x00000000. I had this machine about a month ago and after checking the Hd and cleaning it I uninstalled Norton security and installed avira. I took it back to him and I thought everything was OK but he said he had put it in a closet for a couple of weeks and when he tried to turn it on it stopped on the Blue screen every time. I would run chkdsk /f if I could get to the CMD prompt but can never get past this error. 0x001902030x8e572b80xc00001020x00000000 Anyone have any advice for me. I don't have his XP disk but can probably get it if I need to.
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo first of all, I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with Windows XP Home SP3. Some background info that may or may not be relevant: I just had this OS installed though the computer is several years old (I had an ingenuine XP Pro before I cleared my C drive and installed a genuine XP Home). The XP installed was SP1 and then I did all the WUDs up to now I where I have SP3. Also, during that period, I had done a repair install because of some error I was getting following installation of a WUD. I don't know if any of that will be relevant at all, but just thought I should mention it.

Computer boots to blue screen after showing Windows splash screen and then immediately restarts. Windows Stop code 0X0000007E (0X80000003, 0X805C370C, 0XBACCB2B4, 0XBACCAFB0). Computer will not boot in safe mode or last known good configuration. I have decided that I will need to reload windows but have several very important files on hard drive that I need to get off first. As it stands, I have 2.5" drive loaded into external hard drive enclosure. Only problem is that 2.5" drive has drive letter of C: like every other computer I have in my house. Is there anyway to change this letter to view files via usb enclosure? Any way to change drive path of C: volume on any other computer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is in a reboot cycle, always asking the standard "boot windows normally, safe mode, last good known configuration..." It loads Safe mode fine. When looking at the minidumps it points to 'ntkrpamp.exe.' When I look that up I find a lot of hits about the RAM. I have 2 sticks in and I've tried swapping and using only one etc. with no luck. I was able to get the computer to work once after forcing a scandisk /r, but after rebooting it got stuck in it's cycle again. The minidump also says:ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000218 - {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): %hs or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFound this forum on trying to decipher a blue screen, but I'm pretty bad at diagnosing them.I read a thread about a minidump, and located that last dump from my blue screen and attached it to this post.My blue screen occurs when:1) I'm watching a video on Media Player Classic and all of a suddent the video goes black. The player then freezes if I attempt to move it/do anything with it. 2) After the MPC freeze, I can't select anything. I have to alt tab to be able to click/move anything after that.3) I then kill MPC via [X] and End Process or Ctrl+Alt+Delete and Kill Process.4) Any attempt at then watching another video after that with Media Player Classic blue screens my computer (and it doesn't stay up for me long enough to read it, I forgot where to make it not instantly reboot on blue screen).

View 1 Replies View RelatedDusting out the entire inside of my pc. i noticed that the fan that cools my pc is full of dust, will removing the small fan covering the cpu cause any problems. like cuasing me to do a clean install because i removed the cpu? i just want my Computer clean and free of all the dust.
If i were to remove the CPU to dust it and put it back , would it be like any other hardware, i.e. the memory where i can just remove it and put it back with no further actions to take, or is it way different?

It happens daily, for no specific reason I can think of... it sometimes beeps when Im away from the computer.I say inside the computer, because I have the volume muted and I still hear it loud and clear, like a warning beep.I searched a few posts already, but cant seem to find a solution. View 3 Replies View Relatedam having problems changing the colour of my windows xp taskbar, and the colours of the bars inside a folder.the problem is when i try to change the colours to the original, using the appearance tab in the display properties, all it shows is windows classic styles, it doesnt show the original xp styles. View 14 Replies View RelatedUnder OS win98se regarding winXPpro windows folder.Online virus scan says there is two adware programs, WUpd & Maxifiles under windowsDownloaded program files. Thing is though when I go into the folder I see five files totaling 192k in size with names like "java run time environment 1.5.0" But when I go outside of the folder and click on properties it tells me there are 22 files in there totalling 22.2mb in there. Whats up with this? I have "show all files" enabled under hidden folders. Why can't I see these files?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI start computer and during windows xp logo booting screens the monitor will go blank (orange light by monitor power button) and keyboards lights will turn off numlock caps and scroll lock will not turn them back on and the little light on my wireless usb mouse reciever goes out. however the pc front lights disc tray and network lights remain on and fan is still going. but sometimes i do manage to get passed the startup (10% of the time) and into windows for about 10-30 minutes before the same blank screen freeze up happens. i know its not totally a videocard monitor issue because not just the monitor goes blank everything stops responding......

I'm running a Gateway 700GR with Windows XP service pack 2 and i'm having a pretty bad problem.last night when I turned on the computer and tried to log in, I get this error.Title bar says "Windows Product Activation Error" with the text "A problem is preventing Windows from accuratley checking the liscence for this computer" and the error code is 080090019.Any ideas on what to do? I restarted the computer in safe mode and ran Registry Cleaner (I tried to use System Restore but I just get a blank window) and fixed some stuff with that, but the problem persists.
