Laptop Continually Reboots After BSOD
Dec 10, 2005
HP laptop with XP pro continually reboots after a BSOD It starts to load the windows logo.It will not boot to safe mode or any other mode.Last known good does not work.
Hardware and disk test OK.I believe it is most likely a corrupted windows file or registry.I have the OEM restore disks.Q1. will the restore discs overwrite the data? I suspect they will.Q2. Can I get to the restore point if i can boot the machine to DOS?Q3. What other tactic other than restoring from scratch might work?

Suddenly, today my computer won't boot up. It gets to where it displays the Windows XP screen, then for an instant there is a screen with some printing, but it goes too fast to read because the computer shuts down and reboots. It does this continually. I can boot up in safe mode so I went to add/remove programs in control panel and found two entries that I didn't recognize. I tried to remove them but they would not remove. Their names were ANIO Service and ANIWZCS2 Service. Keep in mind I was in Safe mode and logged on to a personal account, not the administrator account. I then went to Windows Explorer and there I saw a folder with the name ANI. Within that folder there were two more folders with files in them as listed below:
ANIO ServiceANIOInst (Followed by this description: ANIO Service Installer Alpha Networks Inc CtrlSrv Followed by this description: CtrlSrv MFC Application Alpha Networks Inc. ANIWZCS2 ServiceANIWZCS2.dll (2.4.10.50318)...

My desktop currently boots, but before starting XP displays a warning that the system was restarted to protect from data loss after an unexpected start or system failure. All of the options (safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, and start normally) don't work, they all lead to a short start-up and then the system restarts. I turned off auto-restart on system failure to see the blue screen that would tell me the error, and the error I got was "*** STOP: 0x00000024", which from what I've researched usually has to with a corrupted ntfs.sys file but I'm not sure. I tried booting the Windows Recovery Console from the OS choice menu and that goes straight to the error, and booting the System Recovery disc lets me start up the process, but when I press "r" to run the normal fixes (that don't include wiping the drive) the process goes nowhere. It starts, but after finished the loading bar it goes to a solid baby blue screen.
I direly need my files off of the hard drive, so I'm not really looking at a full system recovery as an option, I just need something that'll buy me enough time to transfer most of the content on the hard drive (around 160 gigs) to an external hard drive.
I've also tried testing both sticks of RAM by removing one and then the other to see if one is bad, but the error still persists.

My son Lloyd has a Toshiba Laptop which is just over a year old - typical eh as we can now no longer take it back on guarantee. It keeps turning itself off completely - I assume because of overheating???. This has started to happen quite frequently now, five times yesterday evening and also a few times this morning. He is getting quite frustrated at this and I have no idea what we can do to investigate it. Can anyone here offer advice as to what I could do to determine what the issue is and what may be causing it. Lloyd is registering on TSG right now as I type this note as 'burnsy' so he can monitor and reply within this thread.

Ive been getting a Windows XP Pro BSOD with the following technical information:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF495FED The computer resets before any more information is displayed. This error has been occurring for a few months, but it occurs occasionally, i usually just let the comp reboot and choose "Start Windows Normally" and it will boot fine. However, today i did that over 10 times and it kept giving me the bsod. Then i gave up, but tried again after 15 mins or so, it booted up.I only started getting the error after i replaced my comp's PSU (the old one died - i tested the old one on another comp) a few months ago. At the same time I decided to replace my graphics card (Leadtek Winfast A6600GT TDH replacing a Radeon 9200SE), and install a new sound card (SB Audigy 2 Value) and new hdd (Western Digital SATA 200G

I recently purchased a HP Laptop, model DV7-1020US. Here are a few specifications.
Processor
# Processor Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 / 2 GHz
# Multi-Core processor technology Dual-Core
# 64-bit processor Yes
# Data bus speed 1066 MHz
#
Cache Memory
# Type L2 cache
# Cache size 3 MB.........
So, unhappy with the amount of processes from HP and also vista taking up the laptop's performance, I decided to re-install Windows Xp 64 Bit OS. The first thing I do is pop in the install CD, which takes me to the "WIndows setup starting.. etc, and says loading drivers, etc, and as soon as it gets to "Windows setup is starting up.. (the one after it loads the neccessary files) I immediately bluescreen with this message : A problem has been detected.......

I came back from shopping with the laptop frozen so I turned it off. It started with a BSOD. The BCCode is 116. My wife said that it had completed some updates this AM when she turned it on. This computer has a GE7600 video card. It also runs very hot so I'm wondering if perhaps the card might have cooked. Should I try to reinstall the driver?

I am trying to fix a friends notebook but every time I turn on the computer it takes me to the safe mode selection and which ever mode I select, it starts loading but breaks out to the blue screen with the following error: 0x001902030x8e572b80xc00001020x00000000. I had this machine about a month ago and after checking the Hd and cleaning it I uninstalled Norton security and installed avira. I took it back to him and I thought everything was OK but he said he had put it in a closet for a couple of weeks and when he tried to turn it on it stopped on the Blue screen every time. I would run chkdsk /f if I could get to the CMD prompt but can never get past this error. 0x001902030x8e572b80xc00001020x00000000 Anyone have any advice for me. I don't have his XP disk but can probably get it if I need to.

So first of all, I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with Windows XP Home SP3. Some background info that may or may not be relevant: I just had this OS installed though the computer is several years old (I had an ingenuine XP Pro before I cleared my C drive and installed a genuine XP Home). The XP installed was SP1 and then I did all the WUDs up to now I where I have SP3. Also, during that period, I had done a repair install because of some error I was getting following installation of a WUD. I don't know if any of that will be relevant at all, but just thought I should mention it.
I get this BSOD any time I unplug my laptop. It says, "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. .....

Computer boots to blue screen after showing Windows splash screen and then immediately restarts. Windows Stop code 0X0000007E (0X80000003, 0X805C370C, 0XBACCB2B4, 0XBACCAFB0). Computer will not boot in safe mode or last known good configuration. I have decided that I will need to reload windows but have several very important files on hard drive that I need to get off first. As it stands, I have 2.5" drive loaded into external hard drive enclosure. Only problem is that 2.5" drive has drive letter of C: like every other computer I have in my house. Is there anyway to change this letter to view files via usb enclosure? Any way to change drive path of C: volume on any other computer?

My son helpfully managed to get a trojan installed on my machine, a nasty piece of work called Puper-D. I nailed it ok, but then my desktop would continually reload, and freeze as Dr watson came up.I disabled the good doctor in the registry to see what the problem was, and it was an application error in explorer.exe. I reloaded windows XP pro as a repair install, assuming the trojan had damaged the OS, and now I'm not getting the error message, but the desktop continuously refreshes about every 12 to 15 seconds, and takes anything on it out.

I did a registry edit, (I think I didn't reboot the computer before turning it off and packing it for the flight, but I'm not sure) and without ever restarting the computer, I went on a plane flight. Now I'm at my destination (on another computer atm) and when I boot my computer, the lights literally turn on for only ~3 seconds, then it reboots, it will just continually loop this once I turn on the power supply and press the power button (turning off the power supply is the only way I've found to stop it). I don't think it even sends a signal to the monitor to turn on. I have been googling it and trying to find out what it is, it seems like it might be the registry that's the issue? If this registry edit did cause my computer to go haywire (even though I kind of have a hard time seeing that considering the reboot is so fast.. but I'm sure you guys know more than me) then what would I do to fix it? Get a boot CD right for my OS? Does that entail buying a new Win XP CD? Or can I use http://www.ubcd4win.com/news.htm to fix it? If I can get to Windows I can revert the registry change, no problem, if that is what's causing it.

I have a HPDV8000 laptop and somehow managed to pick up this Antivirus XP 2008 Trojan Horse at some point. Pop ups about viruses etc were coming up so I used lavasoft's adaware and it seemed to remove it. After a cold boot, the desktop constantly restarts itself, followed by 0X0000008E Blue Screen. If I boot in safe mode with or without network connections, it does the same thing. If it sits at windows login. for any length of time the same blue screen stop codes come up.

Compaq Presario 6470NX running Windows XP. Automatic updates are continually trying and failing to update my system. One of the popups I get is: "SQLDUMPER library failed initialization. Your installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with. Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem." I restored to an earlier date and that went away. But, I'm still not getting my updates done. Last Tuesdays are (KB928365, 928366, and 928367).

Hello, I am new to this website, and need some serious help. I have a Gateway GT 5028 that is about a year a half old. I came home today to turn it on, and the only thing that happens is the fans both work, the cd drive lights come on, the power button light comes on, and the orange cpu light comes on. After a few seconds the cd lights flash again, and they repeat this process. The screen, keyboard, and mouse do not work. The monitor stays black the whole time. It has windows xp on it. I got it at Best buy, but it is out of warranty. It seems as if the computer continually restarts?

I had a major crash and had to reinstall my Windows XP SP2, so I have had to reinstall most of my programs. Now whenever I load Excel, it takes a minute to "install excel features". I would think one install of whatever features it is installing would be sufficient. Why does it keep installing the same features and how can I get it to quit doing this?I am using Excel 2003 on a Gygabyte GA-8IEX mother board with a Pentium IV 2.53 cpu.

An interesting problem. I have a box here that constantly reboots itself. Firstly I thought it may be a cmos problem, so I drained the cmos by removing the battery. Nope. Then I forced the bios to find hardware (I think it's eecd?). No problem finding hardware, but constant reboot. I thought it may be a hard drive problem so I changed the h/d. Nope, still constantly reboots. I took out the cdrom. Nope. I then low level formatted the h/d (the box worked just fine for this, using a cd with the format program, booting from the cd) tried to install a new o/s rebooting again during the install, after several tries got the o/s in the puter boots to the point of xp starting, then reboot or teases the heck out of me by actually opening xp to the welcome screen - then reboot. The box uses XP, the pwr supply is good and I am at a loss.

I come to you with a rather strange problem. I come to you because I have no idea where to begin diagnosing such a problem. I just ordered parts for a brand new computer, built it, and am now running it very happily. However, within the past few days (the computer was finished being built about a week ago), it's started randomly rebooting while undertaking routine tasks in Windows. There seems to be no logical software-related pattern to the reboots so I have no idea what's causing it. It happens thus: audio skips for a few seconds, I hear a click inside the computer, and then it just restarts.
As I said, there seems to be no software pattern to the reboots... The only recent hardware change is that I've put in the Firewire card (it came in later than the rest of the computer, so I ran a few days without it). I almost want to suspect the Firewire card is causing such a problem -- is that reasonable?
In addition to that, I have an external USB hard drive that's failing... it's connected via the Firewire, and one of the restarts happened when I turned off the drive. Assuming that means it's one of those two, could it be the hard drive or the Firewire from that?

I am really without a clue, the only hardware modification I have done is install two more 512mb sticks of ram. I had two and installed 2 more all same type Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200). So now I am running 2 gigs of ram. It rebooted and I got the boots screen to choose type of boot.....last good config, ect....I chose normal and it gave me the xp windows screen with the horizontal progress graphic and then it kinda hangs on a black screen for a bit and finally it will give me the user/password window.

I have a Sony Pentium 4 and Windows XP Professional. Things were working fine up until about 3 weeks ago when suddenly the system would reboot when I tried to print. The error message would take me to the Windows Update page and tell me to update the ethernet adapter, which was erroneous as it referred to an adapter I don't have. I've tried to delete the printer, but when I open the printer folder in Control Panel the system reboots before I can delete anything. I've upgraded the driver for the printer, which is an Epson C62. I've tried a system restore

I did this to save time installing and updating again which take so much time. after the restoring of the image is done, the system rebooted and represented the dual boot options (1. earlier version of windows, 2. Windows Vista) but when you click any of them it wont work and it will reboot in endless loop

I have a XP system that I thought I had fixed (random rebooting) this is pasted from my last post....
Now the machine.... Antec case with true 380s power supply, ABIT AV8 board,2 sticks of pc3200 512 mb ddr400 ram , Amd Athlon64 3500+ (not oc) ,Nvidia geoforcefx 5900xt card running XP Pro with SP1 installed.
What I have tried ...ran antivirus , ran spywarecleaner, defrag, ran memtest, adjusted to failsafe defaults in bios , flashed the bios, tried diff combinations of slots for memory, upgrade driver , upgraded via 4-1 drivers
A couple days ago figured it must be power supply (brand new one too) so I started unplugging devices ..second cd rom and fan pulled and everything has been running great since.Question before I drop $60 on power supply what should I look for , where is a good supplier and most important do you think this will solve the problem.
