Photo Gallery Trying To Install Itself
Jun 4, 2007Running Windows XP on a HP Pavillion zv6000. The past several months it has started trying to install PhotoGallery and nothing I am trying will make it quit. I've tried registry fix, I've gone to Microsoft and gotten their fix for it and that won't work.

There are also other problems such as the computer restarting itself with no warning, and it sometimes reverts to a "blue screen of death" where my only choice is to turn off my computer manually. Jul 23, 2007I did an in-place repair of XP MCE 2003. I had previously installed all MS security fixes and updates, the list in my "installed programs" showed about 70 or 80 updates. The in-place repair gave me an unscrambled registry, and an unpatched XP install, without touching my installed programs or data. A good thing, overall, it fixed my major problem.
I immediately went to get all the updates -- 76 of them downloaded. I don't let Updater install automatically -- I get all the updates, but decide which to install because I got a bad version of IE7 that took me a long time to delete and recover from, but I installed ALL security updates. I generally use FireFox, so I didn't view IE7 as a security update. Anyway, it installed one or two updates, and then said the rest could not be installed....
System Updates Install Automatically After Turned On
Sep 23, 2007I am on a fresh clean install of Windows XP and Windows has already updated five times now. Windows is set for automatically download recommended updates and install them. I turned on my computer tonight and it downloading updates again for a total of six times now, when will it stop? I am starting to worrie here.

The install went fine, when I looked at my drives in admin tools the C is marked boot and E system, I was going to delete E and make new partitions, but because it marked as system, can not delete it.How did I do this and is there away to put it all back onto C, without reformatting

Jul 22, 2005I took it home and attempted to install windows xp on it and in the process things got messed up. I started up the computer and logged in. Once in, I inserted the Windows XP install so as to upgrade it and the process started out fine. Well it got to the point where it said it needed to restart in order to contiinue with the process, which it did. It restarted and began copying files, and it tossed out a few error messages. They were: could not copy file: spra0410.dll & spra0411.dll I tried to write them all down but I couldn't catch the all. I do know however there were about six files, all similar to the ones above, that didn't copy. I'm not too sure what to do at this point because now the computer won't go to windows at all. It goes through the start up screen all the way to the point where it says "press any key to continue", but then just kind of freezes and won't go any further. I've tried pressing a button to go forward, also tried to boot in safe mode whic none of the F Keys or Del will take me to. I tried changing the Bios to Boot from CD first using the same XP CD. I'm not sure what else I can do to get this thing to open windows, even in safe mode, or system restore. Sorry for the novel, just trying to explain in depth.

Jul 11, 2005I had tried to run a friends HD as a slave drive with mine on my other machine earlier. I got it up and running & it repaired the friends drive and I was able to get some files off he wanted. After I turned it off & took his out I got an error message that some files are missing in windowssystem32configsystem on my computer that I was using with his HD. The message goes on to say to boot with the windows xp disk and try a system repair. Well, that failed also. I took it out and brought it up here and put it on with this one as the slave drive and I got into it. Is there a way I can repair those files with it running as a slave drive on this one, or do I have to just re-install windows again.

Oct 10, 2007I currently have 2Gb (2x 1Gb sticks) DDR2 800 RAM in my system and saw an offer for the same RAM for 1/3 off the price I'd paid before so I decided to grab it while it was there. However, when I install the extra 2x 1Gb sticks the system won't boot fully and I don't know why. When I took them out and left the original 2x 1Gb sticks in the system works normally. I'm going to switch the sticks around to see if it's faulty RAM or bad RAM slots but it works fine in the BIOS and booting up. As soon as I enter Windows and login it the keyboard LED goes off, the mouse LED stays on and the system freezes. than switching the RAM out to test the slots on the motherboard?

I let in automatically install updates. I know 'stupid'. I now have it set to notify me before installing. Anyway, one of the updates was some version on windows explorer. It is always attempting to Install. It doesn't say what what it is installing. I look on the internet and one told me how to find out what it is attempting to install. It came back as "3.1.400.5512" I'm think that is internet explorer 3.1 not sure. It slows my computer, won't let me go online because it interfers with the sign on window pop up.

When rebooting it always goes straight to the windows desktop. After that I noticed that my desktop picture and all of the folders I had on the desktop were gone. My favorites were removed form IE8 and I keep getting a security settings warning bar that doesn't let me fix it. I click fix my setting and it looks like it does then on the next page it pops up again. So I had to create another user with admin rights to use for the internet. I can find all of my files that were on the desktop but they are showing up under user owner but if I log into widows with user owner they don't show up.
