I get an error report and the chat software crashes after I try to use my webcam. I can't use it in any chat service, I've tried Skype.com and a Chinese chat software called QQ. Every time I try to use the webcam with QQ I get the below error message and the QQ software crashes

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem with my Dell Lattitude D505 Laptop where I put it on standby, and then about 10 seconds after taking it off standby, I get a blue error screen telling me the system crashed. It mentions on the screen something about BIOS memory. Looking through some other posts, I have seen mention of a correlation between this screen and BIOS. does anyone think that this BIOS memory thing is in fact the problem? How do I resolve anything that deals with this BIOS memory? The help section on my computer just defines what BIOS is, it doesn't state where I can find it on my comp.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi got this very old and cheap brandless webcam, it came with a mini-cdr which holds the drivers, when i place the mini-cdr into my dvd drive, it made a load noise, then the installer runs and i got the error shown in the top of the pic, as i continue the installation i got another error, shown at the botton of the pic, now i know maybe the disc is corroupt or something, so i decided to use device manager to install the drivers manually.
when windows did found the driver on the disc, it turns out to be a notepad file, which was strange, but i continue to install anyway, but windows pops up a message saying the driver isn't signed or could be harmful or something like that, i cancel the installation and uplugs the camera. i thought it made sense since the mini-cdr could actually be a coaster or a badly burnt disc, as the installer states there's an error, but should i try anyways?
I reformatted my computer recently and now the ability to record a video using my web cam wont work because of some changes between Microsoft and the Indeo codecs it used.Is there a compatible web cam video driver for home XP I can download at no charge?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot remember word for word as it came and went off that fast.This is what happened. I did the restart as told and it did come back but then it happened a third time and upon the restart the computer will not come back on. Or let me explain further...the actual computer will turn on when I push the button, but no picture or desk top or anything will come on on the monitor. I tried another monitor to rule that out and still nothing. I also was told to try restarting in safe mode but still get nothing coming up loading on monitor just a black black monitor screen. I really need to get this back up if not for anything else but to save all my lost stuff before I have to get rid of it.

It sounds fine the rest of the time, including restarts and even reboots from off if the PC hasn't been switched off very long. Yet no major problems flagged in HDDLife or Event Manager. Then a couple of months ago my PC fell rather uniquely ill. Not only was there increased thrashing in explorer.exe, but direct-accessing drives and folders (either double-clicking or choosing the FIRST option in the right-click menu, regardless of what it was) caused an instant CTD as explorer crashed with an odd error message.

I have run avast, adaware, spybot, all come up clean.Sometimes pc is unable to recover and will keep coming back to screen for selecting safe mode etc.Tried to run registry cleaner I saw on your home page. But once downloaded and tried to run this, PC crashed again. Even now I am usure how long I will get on this site before something goes down.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a PIII - 500MHz/128RAM PC with Win XP installed on it. My system drive (C: ) has a decent 500MB free space. I have my voice chat applications installed on other drives . Every time I start to voice chat (Y!M, GTalk, Skype) my PC hangs after about 2 minutes. With GTalk it happens in about 1 minute. I have no clue why this happens, the system just gets frozen and I cannot even move my mouse. The situation continues for I dont know how long, but I waited for about an hour once and I always have to reboot my machine. FYI, I am doing voice chat on this PC for the first time.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have done a reformat w/ xp and added sp2. I tried turning off popups while in this process of installing etc. and adding tsg for allowances. I use Mozilla Firefox .... and when I had installed the Java, I would come to TSG and check it out on Chat. 99.9 % of the time - all worked great with no problems. I don't know why now? I tried the java on a test page/ which said it was working, yet I can not access chat and I get timed out trying? I will add 2 pictures as reference. as I am getting dizzy going around in circles.

I have a cd that came with my computer and I can get into command prompt dos through it. View 7 Replies View RelatedSystem crashed last night with a Kernel Stack Inpage Error, but restarted fine ... while diagnosing, I tried to get in to Disk Management through Admin Tools/Computer Management, and received the error, "Unable to connect to Logical Disk Manager service". I checked, and the service was disabled (why?), so I set it for manual and restarted it, still received the error.Oddly, I was able to start it from a command prompt, which then allowed it to start from Admin Tools. What just happened here? Is that service normally disabled? If not, what would cause it to become disabled? Could a virus, worm, or rootkit have snuck in?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a new ECS 755-A2 board with a new Sempron CPU and a evga FX5200 AGP card. Nothing exotic or cutting edge. Everything seems to work OK, I can do all my normal tasks, everything looks great. New HDs, new PS, new install of XP Pro SP2. I can work for a couple of hours with no problems of any kind.At some point after just a few minutes of user inactivity, however, anything on the screen that happens to be moving, such as an animated "progress" bar, freezes for a second or two, then the screen goes black and the system crashes hard until reset/reboot. It's not merely the monitor going black, it's a full system lockup. If I have streaming audio going, say, it will stop at the same time. The system is fully crashed. IDE light is on permanently until reset. Keyboard input is ineffective.

It was working fine untill i tryed to turn it on this morning it turned on fine then crashed so i restarted it. It then loaded up normally with the "ACER" logo and options below (F2 for bios, F12 for boot menu and ALT + F10 for recovery thing) but it doesnt go any further, i can go into the bios , i can go into the boot menu and select a boot device and i can press the buttons for the erecovery but they all just go onto a black screen and i dont understand

Found 2 "Hardware Updates: 1.ALPS pointing device and 2.Storage-primary IDE channel.(don't have a pointing device on my desktop) Tried to download updates on both desktop and notebook computers.Immediately got warnings from my virus software and computers crashed. Tried to reboot and got message that the registry was corrupted. I used Acronis to restore hard drive images and all is well now, but can anyone explain this? Don't know whether this was a virus or whether the downloads caused the crash but I trusted Microsoft.

The laptop still works fine only no OS I am going to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS unless anyone has any better ideas. We do have a Ghost image to backup from.
