Explorer Crashed With An Odd Error Message

For a good while my HDD has been making really unhappy noises when cold booting. It sounds fine the rest of the time, including restarts and even reboots from off if the PC hasn't been switched off very long. Yet no major problems flagged in HDDLife or Event Manager. Then a couple of months ago my PC fell rather uniquely ill. Not only was there increased thrashing in explorer.exe, but direct-accessing drives and folders (either double-clicking or choosing the FIRST option in the right-click menu, regardless of what it was) caused an instant CTD as explorer crashed with an odd error message.

My system crashed and came up with this error message! "WindowsSystem32ConfigSystem missing or currupt" it wont boot past that screen.

I keep getting this error message when I boot. The entire message says, "windows explorer has encountered an error and needs to close." When I close the box, i lose my desktop, and can't run a bunch of programs, including the "run" option. I am able to run my browsers and get on the web. I did do a system restore, and it worked at first, but then on the next reboot, i got the error message again. Did another system restore, same thing.

I try to open Internet Explorer I get the following message: iexplore.exe- entry point not found The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll.
This message occurred after I tried to repair Windows. I have tried uninstalling IE and reinstalling it. It will not reinstall on my computer because it says I don't have Sp2.

I try to logon to Chase.com, I get the following: internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Error Signature: appname: iexplore.exe, modver: 5.1.2600.3119, appver: 7.0.600.16473, offset: 00012a5b, modname: kernel32.dll. I am running windows xp, sp2 and ie 7.0. This only happens to one website.

Recently, I have come across a problem in the internet Explorer of my system. After I start Internet Explorer it does not cause any problem but when I close even one Internet Explorer window it asks me if I should send the error report. Even if I say, Send Report or Don't Send,it just closes down all my Internet Explorer opened windows.

Edit: I noticed alot of (no file) entries in the hijackthis report.I have some problems that might be related to eachother. -Winlogon and Explorer.exe both crashed a couple of times last few days. Winlogon crashed when I signed off one ofthe accounts (resulting in a reset), explorer.exe crashed while signing i(resulting in a manual reset while frozen). -Today I noticed in the configuration screen, doubleclicking on something there tells me I cannot open it because some other program has it in use. Translated to english, the error msg would be something like: This file is currently in use by another program. As a result I cannot open anything in the configuration menu

I was on Firefox, which didn't have flash, so i decided to switch to Internet explorer, when i opened the program, my screen froze and i could not click on anything, it began to flash randomly, I couldn't do anything so i shut down the computer by the power button. I restarted the computer everything still working, and went back into Internet explorer 8 to see if it was still doing it. Yet again it happened and I powered down. When i started it again, the bios screen had small faint lines going though it in some places it continued to boot and got to a blue screen, and then nothing happens.

I cannot remember word for word as it came and went off that fast.This is what happened. I did the restart as told and it did come back but then it happened a third time and upon the restart the computer will not come back on. Or let me explain further...the actual computer will turn on when I push the button, but no picture or desk top or anything will come on on the monitor. I tried another monitor to rule that out and still nothing. I also was told to try restarting in safe mode but still get nothing coming up loading on monitor just a black black monitor screen. I really need to get this back up if not for anything else but to save all my lost stuff before I have to get rid of it.

friend whose computer has crashed the screen had frozen. He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen. We have checked the monitor connections (the monitor works when connected to his second computer) and even replaced the video card but of course this made no difference (no signal) We've taken out the HD and installed it on his second system. Does this mean that the most likely cause now is the motherboard/bios or is there something wrong in our approach/deductions

Every time I switch on my machine and try to connect to the internet, I get a dialogue box: Web page is unavailable while offline. To view this page, click connect. When I click connect, I can view the page and don't get the error message again until I switch off the machine. Why does this happen?

I've been having this problem with my Dell Lattitude D505 Laptop where I put it on standby, and then about 10 seconds after taking it off standby, I get a blue error screen telling me the system crashed. It mentions on the screen something about BIOS memory. Looking through some other posts, I have seen mention of a correlation between this screen and BIOS. does anyone think that this BIOS memory thing is in fact the problem? How do I resolve anything that deals with this BIOS memory? The help section on my computer just defines what BIOS is, it doesn't state where I can find it on my comp.

Physical memory dump on my xp sp2 system running 768 megs sd ram. Athlon xp1200 processor.This problem is happening more and more often. I have run avast, adaware, spybot, all come up clean.Sometimes pc is unable to recover and will keep coming back to screen for selecting safe mode etc.Tried to run registry cleaner I saw on your home page. But once downloaded and tried to run this, PC crashed again. Even now I am usure how long I will get on this site before something goes down.

issue with friend pc, when he boots up he gets the menu that says along the lines of 1. boot xp home from hard disk 2.setup xp from cd so he has to like press 1 every time he starts up his pc. if he leaves it it goes thru some bumf and gives an error n reboots its cos i tried to reinstall xp at one point for him (other problems which later dissapeared) and the system crashed out on me before i could do it..

a message keeps popping up saying the following: Cannot load dialog. Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection. All I can do is click the close button and it goes away and nothing else seems to happen, but it pops up again in a few minutes.
