View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a new ECS 755-A2 board with a new Sempron CPU and a evga FX5200 AGP card. Nothing exotic or cutting edge. Everything seems to work OK, I can do all my normal tasks, everything looks great. New HDs, new PS, new install of XP Pro SP2. I can work for a couple of hours with no problems of any kind.At some point after just a few minutes of user inactivity, however, anything on the screen that happens to be moving, such as an animated "progress" bar, freezes for a second or two, then the screen goes black and the system crashes hard until reset/reboot. It's not merely the monitor going black, it's a full system lockup. If I have streaming audio going, say, it will stop at the same time. The system is fully crashed. IDE light is on permanently until reset. Keyboard input is ineffective.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot remember word for word as it came and went off that fast. This is what happened. I did the restart as told and it did come back but then it happened a third time and upon the restart the computer will not come back on. Or let me explain further...the actual computer will turn on when I push the button, but no picture or desk top or anything will come on on the monitor. I tried another monitor to rule that out and still nothing. I also was told to try restarting in safe mode but still get nothing coming up loading on monitor just a black black monitor screen. I really need to get this back up if not for anything else but to save all my lost stuff before I have to get rid of it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFor a good while my HDD has been making really unhappy noises when cold booting. It sounds fine the rest of the time, including restarts and even reboots from off if the PC hasn't been switched off very long. Yet no major problems flagged in HDDLife or Event Manager. Then a couple of months ago my PC fell rather uniquely ill. Not only was there increased thrashing in explorer.exe, but direct-accessing drives and folders (either double-clicking or choosing the FIRST option in the right-click menu, regardless of what it was) caused an instant CTD as explorer crashed with an odd error message.

It mentions on the screen something about BIOS memory. Looking through some other posts, I have seen mention of a correlation between this screen and BIOS. does anyone think that this BIOS memory thing is in fact the problem? How do I resolve anything that deals with this BIOS memory? The help section on my computer just defines what BIOS is, it doesn't state where I can find it on my comp.

I usually click the don't send option....10 seconds later the box pops back up...I went to Task Mgr a few times and saw it [wuauclt.exe] running in Processes and was able to stop it from running. This has been an intermittent problem but becoming more constant. When I log in with my password (I am the only user on computer), if the hour glass doesn't come up immediately after pressing "enter", the computer then loads with the default profile settings instead of my own. If I immediately restart the computer (either after if is loaded or I shut down the computer while it is loading), I can log in & my user settings load properly. When this problem occurs, occasionally a window will pop-up after I enter my password at log-in, with something to the effect of user environment, personal settings unable to load due to insufficient memory. Also I do not know if this is related, but when I try to error check & is scheduled to start when the computer restarts, it usually states that it has been canceled after I have restarted the computer & doesn't go into a full scan. The reason I say that this might be related is that this is also an intermittent problem & seems to only occur when I'm having above problem (which is usually what prompts me to want to check scan). At other times, it seems to work okay. I have an HP dv8135 laptop, winXP media edition sp3, AMD 64, 2 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 (with updated driver), TrendMicroPro 2008, & Acronis True Image 11.

It must be configured by any standart windows command tools.
I need to configure the "Passworw Never Expires" option using the command line.
I had success by setting other options as "Account is disabled" and "User cannot change password". But this option is really making me sad.
