Error C:Windowsdsr.dll - Change Or Login With A Specific Desktop User Profile

I seem to get an error message C:Windowsdsr.dll when windows is running and I attempt to change or login with a specific desktop user profile. Does anyone have any thoughts? I also noticed that the virus software, althought up-to-date with subscription and definitions, was disabled. This is an additional backup work station at the office of my employment and is used by many different people. One of those individuals must have disabled Norton about 45 days ago.
I have XP Entertainment Home Edition. My system boots up to the user profile screen where I can choose between the two profiles If I select either profile a blank desktop appears (no icons/no windows task bar) and freezes Trying to boot into Safe Mode also hangs after choosing a profile. It's a Dell so I don't have the XP cds to try a repair. I do have other computers with different versions of XP installed that are working fine
I want to know if there is possible to put a specific text over the desktop and when the user change the wallpaper the text continues appearing at the same position (basically I want to do it on Windows XP).People says that an image worth more than thousands of words... All the systems on my network about 30 systems all running windows xp pro with service pack two keep deleting user profiles the sytems all connect to a win2k domain controller. users keep having problems opening their files or changing system settings even though they were originally configured as administrators on their systems wondering what the problem could be.
I have a corrupt user profile. A program would not work (Avery DesignPro 3.5) and their support told me to create a new user profile.I did, and the program works under the new profile. The problem is that nothing that I use all the time is under the new profile. How can I uncorrupt my regular user profile, or do I need to switch back and forth when I want to use that program?
I had a user account, However, for some reason, I have done something wrong and reboot the machine, that user account had gone, only Administrator is left. Then I created an account with the same name: John Smith. I noted under the Documents and Settings, there are 2 John Smith, they are: 1)John Smith and 2)John Smith.JS I think the first one is the original one because the date modified was a couple of months ago. The second one is the one that I just created.Can I recover my original one ?
Ok so my XP Home PC has only 1 profile so it took me straight to my desktop.after a windows update recently, something has changed to where now i have to click on a user profile to get to my desktop. I'm having an issue with a new laptop. several programs or just parts of programs will run painfully slow or take several minutes to load or when they finally do load they freeze. System restore and help files suffers from the same problem along with msn messenger 8, ares, and the dictionary in microsoft works. those are all that i've noticed with the problem i'm sure there are others. i've used registry mechanic tried reinstalling msn and ares with no solutions. also this problem seems to be profile specific. i created another profile on this machine and the problems seemed to dissipear but i would perfer to keep this profile. when i'm trying to load these programs if i open task manager the cpu will usually be low as if i'm not loading anything. also there is somtimes about a minute or 2 or halfway into loading the program loading will apear under the apps twice. one as itself ares.exe or whatever the restore exe is, and one at explorer.exe. i dont believe explorer.exe is a virus it seems to b normal. i assume that the problem has to do with the cpu right now but i have no idea how i would fix that. other than those few programs everything else runs fine. i defreg regularly and so on. i run avg 7.1 windows xp home. its a 64 bit lap i think so i assume it would be a 64 bit edition HP Pavilion.
At my job we have about 500 networked users on WinXP 32 bit. Each user has an individual log in - there are no roaming profiles. We're in the process of creating a new image andI'm having a disagreement with a new tech here. He says we should get rid of the Default User Profile and only use the All Users Profile. Every time I've created an image I've set up the image the way I want and then copied that over to the default profile - so that when new users log in - they see exactly what i've set up in terms of the standard desktop shortcuts we use. This new tech thinks the default user's profile redundant and not really needed. I'm having a hard time finding information the default users profile and if it's needed or not.
i shut down my Pc normally at my work and when i started today morning and put my user name and login , a windows apears with the following message. WINDOWS CANNOT LOAD THE USER'S PROFILE BUT HAS LOGGED ON WITH THE DEFAULT PROFILE FOR THE SYSTEM DETAIL- THE SYSTEN CANNOT FINE THE PATH SPECIFIED how can i get my profile back to work normally as before.
This one has been hard to research, because all of the search terms are so common and generic. Windows XP desktop user new alternate login temp...Background: The PC in question has Win XP Home SP3. I recently reformatted the hard drive and restored the entire system including all updates, drivers, etc. Each person in my family has a logon. After doing the reinstall of Windows and setting up the user accounts, I logged into each to set up their "My Documents" folder set and restore their files, etc. from backup (on a secondary hdd.) I also restored a few other personalizations like wallpaper and jumped through the "Welcome to Windows XP" hoops. When I was done, all user accounts were established and had been logged into at least once if not more
What happened is I just installed a new Hard Drive and a fresh windows install (XP Pro with Service pack 3). After all was installed it logged into my account (Me) which was my account with Administrator privileges. I did a series of windows updates now when I turn my computer on it goes straight to the Administrator account and not my account (me). So I have to log off or switch accounts from Admin to Me. I just want it to login to Me all the time. So I am not smart enough to figure it out.
Some time ago, I checked an option somewhere to make it so that whenever I turned on my comp, windows would skip the welcome screen and automatically login to my profile. How do I disable this from happening?
I am trying to completely lock down anything from running on a specific user account, except for 1 program which auto runs on boot.. I'v been able to lock the system down pretty well with the group policy editor.. but is there anything similiar to this that will edit specific user settings only? Or make my admin account not affected by the group policy editor?
I have one user with a laptop (windows xp pro). he initially signed on to the laptop as jsmith. This was fine except the username he has at work and the email address he has is pjsmith.now he would like to have his laptop signon as pjsmith rather than jsmith.I would like to simply create the user new (pjsmith), copy the old (jsmith) profile to the new (pjsmith) profile and then delete the old (jsmith). I have tested this on another machine and it doesn't work so well.
I had my hard drive transferred to a new pc. I cannot access the numerous (and important!) files under Documents and Settings/My Username on the new pc. Apparently, Windows has restricted access to those files since it does not recognize me on the new PC. The files all seem to be there (based on the info from the properties of the documents and settings folder), but I cannot see them. Both old and new pc use XP Home.How can I regain access to these files?

First, what's the difference between the following user profile folders?
user1 user1.MYDOMAIN user1.MYMACHINE
The second one is a domain user. The third one is a local user. What's the first folder?
I have a user with this configuration. Until last week, his profile folder was "user1". All his desktop items and so on are in there. A few days ago he logged in like he usually does and was left with a new profile, "user1.MYDOMAIN".
I got a classic pull-down menu and a decent wallpaper in my windows xp OS. I also got a account set up in my outlook express. All of sudden, when I logged in as usual (with my log-in name and password), I found that all the above configs have gone. Is it possible that someone using another log-in name can alter the user profile of someone else? If yes or no, then how and why?
I was cleaning up my Dell 150D 1.33 mghz Desk top computer with windows XP Home edition. As I logged back on I click on User icon and the screen turns blue and never progresses any further. When I use ALT-CTRL=DELETE, it shows task manager running and continues to cycle in Kbs used. Can I restart and use set up F-1 to correct.
Just reformated xp pro and on start up I was logged on as administrater every time I booted up , I have other users on computer and it kept defaulting to the administrater, so I made the fatal error of deleting the administrater profile and now I can't get into any user profile, anyone know of a fix for this problem?
On a w2k-sp4 pc, my booting process starts looping with "Loading your personal parameters" when it reaches "Recording your parameters". That's the point where you hear the jingle which goes on indefinitely. Since it's inside the opening of the User Session, probably that my profile is somewhat corrupt. Safe Mode leads to the same loop. FYI, I can access w2k files through an XP I have on that pc operating in dual boot mode.
Over the last few days, i am facing problem of user profile corrupt message coming by using Windows XP on my Laptop. It's seem that local user profile got corrupted as showing messaging in beginning. "Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator. DETAIL - An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry."
I have 10 workstations on a network. We have a high turn around in employees. What I would like to do is just to rename the user profile for a new employee instead of creating a new account. I do know how to rename the user on the server. My issue is that even though I renamed the domain user account to a new user the old user name still shows on the workstation in the c: documents and settings and the new doc that are created show the old user as the author. How can I change this to show the new user?

I've been having trouble with all user on my computer being able to use flash player. It only works on my user account. Im' running XP media SP2 and all updates. Researched allot and came up with a user profile issue. I wanted to copy my user profile to a new account and allow everyone permission. Set up a new user account named it local user. Tried to copy my profile and allow everyone permission, but I get "Failed to set up security on the destination profile, error - access denied" I followed all steps I can find on microsoft knowledge base.
i heard some clicks comming from within my comp case, when a click occurs, its like bad lag, everything freezes up for a bit, then goes back to normal.. it started getting pretty bad, so i restarted my PC and then it went to C: CHKDSK thing, it did its thing, and i guess it found some bad clusters, (went to fast for me to read)..

when I booted my XP Pro system, my user profile admin) was corrupt and all my user settings were lost.Then I found that my documents were gone too.The files do not appear anywhere on my hard drive. no docs & settings folder has them. btw, no viruses found on my pc.When I use a undelete file utility, I can see the files at cdocuments & settings/temp, but windows explorer does not see this folder. Nor does explorer see any *.doc, *.xls, *.jpg, or any other file that I had saved in "My Documents" The file resoration free ware that I downloaded (to usb drive) does recover some files that have not been written over. a freind of mine has asked me to take a look ather broken laptop. It will boot up to windows but there is no Windows bar at the bottom and it totally screwed as you cannot access anything at all. I decided to take out the hard drive and insert it into a External Caddy with the intention of getting the data off and re-installing windows xp. when i noticed that when attached to my machine came up with lots of virus error? i have managed to get to her profile and i can see the contents of the profile but cannot copy or open due to "Access Denined"
My thoughts were that it is an Ownership issue i have changed the owner of that folder ticked the box to aplly with the subfolders but still cannot get access to the files? also i can only get a security tab (In properties)with her profile folder and not any subfolders within? repeated this process many times taking care not to get anything wrong with taking ownership. however, i cannot see this being any other issue than an ownership issue?
one of the user profiles in Windows XP Pro has disappeared. I cannot recover the files because the folder in Documents and Settings has disappeared too. I am running a virus scan now
Follow the steps outlined below. Go to start/run type in regedit and click ok. Click on the HKEY_USERS branch (to highlight it). Select File on the menu/Load Hive. Navigate to x:Documents and SettingsDefault User folder (where x houses the Documents and Settings folder). The Default User folder is hidden by default. Open the ntuser.dat file. For the Key name: type in the word tweakxp (actually you can type in anything) and click ok. A new subkey named tweakxp will appear under the HKEY_USERS branch. Navigate to HKEY_USERS weakxp[remaining path to the restrictions/tweaks you want to set] Add in the applicable values and value data. Go back to the subkey tweakxp and click on it to highlight it.
