I know you can either hover over a folder in Explorer or right click, click properties and get the folder size - but what I want is a fix or utility that allows me to see multiple folders, ala Explorer, and see their size displayed - the way it does for individual files on the DETAILS setting
On my D: drive, I have several folders (500 something I think) containing mp3s that I have ripped from my CD collection. What I want to do is transfer all the mp3s contained in these folders to My Music (I have just upgraded to Windows xp media center edition). Rather than going through each folder manually, and going through the time consuming process of selecting, copying and pasting every mp3 in each folder, is there any way I can select all of the mp3s in all of the folders automatically, and have them copied over?

When I open windows explorer (xp home) to view files and folders it is not showing me all of them. For example, under c:documents and settings it does not show "local settings..." and all the subfolders. And, when I installed Office it created an install cache folder but it doesn't show that either. How do I turn it on to show all? There is no prompt to "show hidden files". its probably something real simple that I am overlooking.

Since a couples of days, when I clic on a folder into the left panel of Windows explorer, it takes really long and is Very, very slow to show up the related contained folders and/or its contents in my Windows explorer's right panel. View 12 Replies View Relatedi got hit by some virus(trojan i think ) and try to run norton but notron cannot clean some suspect file. it show error opening (Access denied)[4] or error opening (folder locked)[4]after running norton i found that 'folder options' from Tools command is disappear i download and repaire registary as kiwiguy suggest.Read the heading as to how to apply these Registry "fixes", and then scroll down to number 129 and click on it to download the registry script to correct this problem. now i can see 'folder options' but cannot find 'show hidden file and folder' check box.

I tried deleting those, but then nothing happens if I try to open multiple files or folders. I don't know when this happened, because I rarely open more than one file/folder simultaneosly.

Then when I used the Files and Settings Transfer wizard, it moved my old My Documents folder from the old machine to the new one. Problem is, they have different names. I expect if I'd named them identically, there wouldn't be two of them. Each file I try to save defaults to the one from the old machine. My question is, can I safely
delete the other?
Is it possible to select a large number of files and quickly organise them into folders say alphebetialy. eg Select>Send> aardvark.txt goes to folder named A ,zoo.mp3 goes to folder named z.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having a system with XP Pro x64 with multiple shared folders. Here is the setup. I have about 10 users (1 Admin account, 9 Limited accounts). I have created 10 folders for each User and modified them as shared folders with each user having access to their respective folders ONLY while the Admin account will have access to all folders. I have disabled 'Simple File Sharing', switched off Guest Account. Now I can view this system on other systems on the n/w. But the problem is, if I map a shared folder on one system, I was not able to map anymore on other systems and it gives error, 'the system can not accept multiple connections' in those lines.

I did more than one system restore and each time the process created a new user folder. I first thought all my settings were lost but since discovered I had several new user folders and the computer was no longer using my original folder when I logged in.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a report regarding a couple of high risk temporary internet files that are supposedly located inside certain content.ie5 folders, but those particular folders aren't showing up in any of the user profiles of this system.How do I locate them? I've done a normal search for folders named content.ie5 with 8 folders showing up, but none show the number-letter folders listed on the report. I've done a search in the XP registry and even the content.ie5 folders don't appear anywhere. Tried doing a search on just the number-letter subfolders mentioned and still nothing.I have all files and folders not hidden, including subfolders, but obviously XP ignores that direction with regard to these 'history' or 'temp int files' folders.The report came from SpyDoctor on a trial run prior to purchasing the program, so it can't remove them without purchase/registration. I've been able to remove all others listed in the report manually but not these entries because I can't locate them anywhere. If they don't show up anywhere, how does spydoctor find them?

I went to the control panel, folder options and set the radio button to open multiple folder windows. It will not do it. I can only open one folder view at a time. What am I doing wrong? When I am not connected to the internet, explorer.exe is still running. Also, at times their are multiple svchost.exe running. About 6 of them. It is not debilitating, but it is annoying. Can anyone tell me more about these three processes and possible ways to go around them?
I had this computer for a year or so and about month ago,the little boxes on the blue taskbar at the bottom of the screen stopped showing up I can still open the windows with the ctrl alt delete command to open the task manager, but theres no way to switch between two open windows without that.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAlright this is really damn annyoying, the pc runs incredibly slow, when I look in task manager, explorer.exe is using 97% of the CPU, so I end the proccess and start a new one, then winlogon.exe runs at 97% CPU usage and this proccess can't be ended, and I noticed there are multiple "svchost.exe" about 5 actually, I even reinstalled the operating system about 3 times and the computer still has the problem. I looked all over the internet and I can't find anything that can solve this. I have the log from HijackThis:

I've been noticing some strange problems with my win2k box recently. If I go to the task manager, I notice I get multiple IEXPLORER.EXE processes appearing, some taking a good quantity of RAM over. If I try and end the process it comes back after a second and grows in file size. I've read some other threads and have HijackerThis 1.9, I can't see anything suscpicious in the log, but I'm a novice at that sort of thing. Also I checked for trojans etc and other files/folders but could see anything obvious.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought I had it solved before, but it isn't. I do not know why my cd-r and cd-rw do not show in Windows Explorer. Only the floppy disk does. My cd drives do show in my computer and I seem to have fixed it in the send to list, but checking Windows Explorer they still are not there. They seem to work fine. I have Windows XP Home, Sp 2. I have Roxio Easy CD Creator installed but never use it except to erase a cd. I have Spyware Doctor and Norton Internet Security 2006. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't make any difference though
