I have copied some files from my Mac to my PC. I get a file that starts with "._". I also get the file I copied. When I try to delete the file that starts with ._, I get a message saying cannot delete file, can't read source disk

In this case, it isn't.its just deleting. Not ending up in the Recycle Bin, and no chance to recover.
Is there anyway to change so that they end up in the Recycle Bin first, before being deleted?

When I delete a file from my computer it goes to the recycle bin. When I delete a file from my file server, which is using win2k as well, it does not go to the recycle bin on either computer. The files and folders that I am addressing are: C:WINDOWSTEMP*.* *.OLD *.CHK *.BAK ~*.* _*.* and MSCREATE.DIRI have managed to clean all but one, which is _*.* When I run the search, I get the result of 144 files. I click on edit, select all, then file, delete. I receive the following error "cannot delete file: Cannot read the source file or disk" (please view screen shot). When I right click, I have no delete option, just "open containing folder, copy, and extract. (please view screen shot). I have run AdAware, Spybot, Ewido, and Avg Free. I also have CCleaner, Easy Clean which I have run. I have also used "Move On Boot" by putting the file path in the MOB window and try to have MOB delete the file. MOB says the file will be removed on the next boot.

Under permissions, all users have Full Control, with the exception of the CREATOR OWNER account (the CO account has Special permissions only, I cannot give it Full Control, but I'm not sure if that is an issue).This is on a custom built machine running Windows XP Pro SP2.

The only problem is i can't delete it and it is taking up a large amount of space. When I go to delete these files, I am not able to find them on my hard drive. It tells me that the files are in C:\WINDOWSTemp but when I look in that folder no such files exist. No matter what i did, they couldn't be deleted. So finally, i stumpled across a site that explained that the files need to have the right "ownership" to delete. So, i follow the instructions and set me as the owner, but it will only do that to one folder. I then have to go one by one and set the properties for each sub-folder seperatley, and there's hundreds of them. Is there any way to delete all of the files without regard to what user owns them? Or how can i make ALL files AND subfolders be set at once

How do you clear the list of recent files? My wife is copying some old audio cassettes to CD. When she is done with each cassette, she deletes the files from the computer but they still show up on the files menu. View 4 Replies View RelatedIm using WinXP pro. when i right click for a menu sometimes it takes up to 45 seconds for the menu to appear. Also when i delete a file (any size) i takes anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds for my delete file prompt to come up.
ive also reinstalled XP to no avail.
I am curious to know if "choice.exe" is spyware. I ran one of my anti-spyware programs last night and it listed choice.exe and it's partner file in the Prefetch folder as spyware. I went online and it gave it an "8" on the threat level from 1-10. I quarantined both files to see if I could get some advise before deleting them.

After defragmenting my hard drive the report tells me the 12.2GB file is unable to be defragemented so I know the file is somewhere but I can not find the AVI file nor the folders RECYCLER or NPROTECT.
