The problem i have been having is that my pc freezes and random moments and doesnt unfreeze.So basically after it freezes, which usually occurs when im gaming, chatting or listening to music,I have to actually turn the power off to get it going again.I dont get any error messages of any kind.
This has been an ongoing problem now for about a month. Every so often and usually when I'm playing a game, my computer will abruptly shut off. Because it seemed to happen while playing games, I assumed it was my EVGA GeForce 9800 card that was causing the shutdown. However, last night I was just mindlessly surfing and I had the same issue. When I tried to restart, it took a few times before it 'took' this has happend before in the past when the computer has abruptly crashed as for the GeForce, I've uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled.I've also checked to see if it's the fans, but they all seem to be working fine, no obstructions. Is it possible that with it being summer, the room might be getting too hot and in turn causing the computer to run hotter than usual? I don't keep the air on all the time in that room as it's a window unit and I'm conserving energy.
View 14 Replies View RelatedLAN connectivity simply dies- I can't access the internet, but for some reason, my Google Talk still has connectivity. The other computer connected to my router still works, however. It is only the first computer that gets this problem. (The second computer never has connectivity problems, BTW.) The problem can always be rectified by simply logging off and back on.

I can have everything that runs at start up running and it will freeze, or I can kill all the processes except for essential ones. It still hangs at random intervals.I don't really know what to do, it's interfering with my work and saving every 2 minutes gets kind of tedious.The one thing that I thought of which obviously isn't the problem now that I've tried it. I have a HDD from my previous computer in as well as the new one. I disabled the drive and it still ended up freezing. Sometimes it will freeze a minute after my computer boots, sometimes it will go for hours and hours.
Does anyone have any idea what might be doing this?
I would really appreciate some advice concerning a troublesome computer.A friend who was running Windows XP on a two-years old computer began to experience occasional freezes and blue screens without any apparent pattern in program or usage. It eventually got so bad that we removed most of his installed software other than the essential, but problems continued. We then made a repair installation of Windows XP from the Dell OS installation disk, after which the computer would fall over every time after initial boot up. With sinking heart (of course, he had no image, but had data backups) we then formatted the hard disk and executed a fresh installation of Windows XP.
Windows now boots but the Windows directories contain very few folders or files. The CD drive can only be read perhaps 50% of the time. Most program installation files refuse to run, but some do. One installation disk which will not run is his internet installation. The computer continues to display sporadic blue screens.Before it goes out the window can anyone suggest our next course of enquiry?
Would like to know how to get the computer out of apparent hibernation after my granddaughter logs off. I set up an account so she can have her own screen saver and other things kids like. But when she leaves and I log her off, the window goes totally black. The only way I have been able to get rid of it is to do a cold shutdown and I hate doing this.I cannot find out any info in the Help files as I always try to find the information first but know you all are so great at things, here I am asking help again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite computer and when I run it wireless it seems to shut down for no reason at all. I can use it for about a half hour and then it will turn off and when I turn it back on it will shut down about 10-15 min later.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Gaming, music/photo storage, internet surfing, music making, and video editing just to name a few. Basically, what im saying is my computer is my "lifeforce" . I generally would claim i am generally computer literate. But, I cant find a reason for this to happen. ANYWAY!I turned it on one day, having done nothing to presumably harm a computer, and it goes to the windows loading screen with the blue bar and stay there forever, seriously i timed it the other day, from 1-9 pm it was "loading".I scanned everything while running in "safe mode". no problems. I tried restoring it to an earlier date said it restored successfully, but still sat at loading screen forever.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHey my computer is totally locking up for no reason i had almost this same problem with my last computer but only the mouse would freeze, now on this new computer mouse and keyboard lock up and usually if im playing music or whatever that will freeze up too no other way to get out of this is to shut it off manually. It does this at random times when nothing but internet explorer or msn is open or sometimes it does it when i have something like bittorrent open i took it to a computer store and he booted it up it didnt freeze when he tryed it so he thought it was ok(i dont think it is) he said try a new keyboard and mouse.

Sometimes all of a sudden I lose access to the internet, Im on a LAN but when I lose access the other computers on the LAN still can access the internet fine. If that problem doesnt occur, my computer just decides to stall and when I restart it sometime freezes on the Window XP screen.

Any action that MS Word, or Firefox, or IE, etc, takes, and the music starts skipping. Same thing with videos. The computer has just become very uncooperative in general. And the "activity light" of the computer that normally blinks, sometimes stays on, without blinking, for minutes at a time, and I am not doing anything.

Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. The freezing occurs randomly sometimes it occurs just after startup while other times i can play a game for a few hours before it freezes. Ive been in a repair shop a couple times and they havent solved the problem despite replacing the mother board and power supply. They also reformated the computer and still get the freezing problem. Also when it freezes i turn the power switch off on the back and then i get a noise from the speakers that sounds like someone tapping on a the desk. How can i discover the problem?

It happens at completely odd frequencies with no apparent cause. I've turned my sound scheme to "No Sounds". I've done a search for spyware (nothing unusual). I've uninstalled any programs that were recently installed (it's still there). A few days ago it started having this problem where the entire screen freezes up and I have to turn the computer off and restart. It freezes anywhere from 2 minutes to 4 hours into a session, but it freezes up every time. I don't know if this is related, but every time I restart, I get a message window from an application called Button Manager v1.83, that says: "No INITIO External Storage Device Found" and it has two buttons to click on, either : LED ON or LED OFF. I ran a virus scan, and an adaware scan, but it didn't help. My husband wants to throw out the computer and buy a new one, but there must be a way to fix this. Is it a virus

I have an E-Machines with 512mb of ram and run Windows XP Pro. My computer seems to freeze when left on for more than 5-6 hours. I tried speaking with E-machines about this, but they just wanted me to buy a $100 extended service warranty.
