View 1 Replies View Relatedtwo days ago my computer got infected with a trojan virus. it was running very very slow so i got the Norton 360, but when i tried to uninstall another version of norton from the control panel /add remove programs utility, i got the error message : Cannot find C:WINDOWSSystem32 undll32.exe. I was finally able to get the norton removal from the symantec website, install the norton 360, get rid of the virus and other threats. but that didn't seem to help the rundll32.exe problem, i still cannot access any of the utilities in the control panel and my computer is still running very slow.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI inadvertently downloaded spyware about a month ago and since then my computer's system has been slowly deteriorating. I downloaded lavasoft and adaware but they did absolutely nothing to remove problems.Recently my entire computer's screen is blue and says "A fatal error has occurred...error caused by Trojan-Spy.html.smitfraud.c" I'm afraid to use the internet on that computer.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi ran hijackthis straight out of the .exe file and i can't find the 'backup' folder anywhere (admittedly i don't even know if there is one) but in turning off some start up items, i just went 'i'm so over this' and lost my cool and ticked 2 run.dll files....makes for entertaining computing, this much i know.question one: can i just 'get' necessary .dll win xp sp2 files from somewhere?question two: is this somewhere, a)over the rainbow or b) would i have to 'do something recover style' with the win xp pro disc that would possibly hang me over the edge of losing data which c) is sparsely backed up because d) i'm a tool. question three: above all else, it takes 10min for start up (yes the entire process) to occur which inevitably leads me to having to enter the password for the user (admin) account. is this because of the missing run.dll files or is it because i changed the password not twice but thrice and therefore i may have confused it a little?
View 6 Replies View RelatedLately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had dial up 4 years, I finally got DSL a month agao, now instead of my computer running faster , it is running slower than dial up! View 2 Replies View RelatedWe run Comcast high speed, two computers running though a router setup. My son "opened a port" to speed up his game play. My computer now crawls. Pages take too long to load, and I now sometimes get the server error message here, server not responding. Any idea what I can do. My son seems baffled, but I know he doesn't want to sacrifice his warp speed game play.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomeone told me that my computer is running slow because I have too many programs running in the background. Could this be true and if so, how do I delete the unnecessary programs and more to the point, how do I recognize which programs are necessary and which are not?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy is it taking my computer 3 minutes to boot to the desktop? As you can see from my signature below, I don't have exactly a slow poke machine. All drives are defragged weekly, the BIOS is set to boot off of the hard disk, and I only have the one OS installed. This thing use to boot to the desktop in 20 seconds.
View 12 Replies View RelatedOkay, i have posted thios at heaps of forums and they wont give me any useful info. So now its your turn :P I have windows xp cd. But it will not boot up. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have about had it with windows when even xp is acting buggy. jus jd to let that out. so it happens when the pc has been sitting for a while not doing anything. When I get home and startup outlook 2000 it takes about 20 seconds to even bring up outlook; this is the same scenario with opera, windows media player...ect My pc is a 2006 model dell xps 410 with a core 2 duo 2.66ghz, 2gb RAM, 250GB HDD (7200rpm). You would think that it would be a screamer with xp. I am careful to not let any "junk" build up on it. Right now the only programs running is AVG, Zone Alarm (firewall), and my sound card utility. and the same old story when I clicked on the start menue to open opera. the hard disk light is solid for like 20 sec until opera opens...i mean its just a web browser. I am begining to wonder if my HDD is messed up. It is freshly defragged. If i cant resolve this im gonna jus do a fresh reinstall of xp. i am currently only using 101gb of the 250gb HDD. For those curious it is a SAMSUNG SP2504C.
