I was wondering of a way to change the serial key for windows XP MCE 2005, through regedit. I have tried using Programs to change it for me, but it always tells me I don't have access to registry. I am an admin on my user, so I should be able to access it. Is there anyway to change the serial through the registry?
Does somebody knows how to put Windows XP Home to English. I know that in XP Pro is possible. If not possiblein XP Home, how then can I have Windows XP help in English. My computer has the program in German, everything else uploaded by me is in English
Ive been asked to move a hard drive from 1 pc to another. The hard drive only has a restore disk for the operating system, and all the files need to stay intact. The hard drive on the other pc crashed & has been binned, this pc had a restore partition, so no op sys disk. Both pcs have licence stickers on them for Win 2k. I dont want to swap the stickers from 1 case to another, so, is it possible to change the operating system serial number to the one which is on the case without having to reinstall windows?
we need to change the OS language from Spanish to English I have already gone to Control Pannel and changed the regional settinbgs, I also went to language in internet options and inserted English nothing worked, also inserted the XP disk and got a message in spanish that I think was telling me to contact microsoft, there were no options like REPAIR or install
I recently have purchased a new pc for gaming. I live in the Netherlands and my windows xp pro came in Dutch. Now I would prefer to have it in english. I look on the microsoft site and there were language interface packages. I tried one for german and afrikaans and they work fine. The english one however is not there, it takes me to a readme html file for some reason.
I'm trying to change the XP "Regional/Language" from English to Spanish. After rebooting, it stays as English. The default now say's Spanish. I've even installed the language pack for Spanish from CD.
I was able to get XP installed using my CD with a only a couple of little hiccups that I got past. Now, I'm trying to change the serial number to his via the sticker on the bottom per the instructions at MS Q328874. I don't know if the problem is that my CD is an upgrade CD instead of a full install or if it's that the solution only applies to volume licensing. Does anyone know if I need to activate the current serial number before changing it to the correct number? Or will it not work at all since mine is the upgrade version?
My Ibm Computer On Booting Up Launches In Chinese Or Japanese Instead Of English Has Anybody Any Solutions The Computer Is An Ibm R40 Thanks For Looking
I have XP Pro SP 2 installed on my laptop, the laptop was bought in Japan, has Japanese language support installed (not MUI), I have set internet options-language preferences to only include English, my regional settings are set to the UK and yet when I try to open the novell website at www.novell.co.uk it redirects me to the Japanese language version.I'm going to delete my temp internet files from now, but in the mean time I'd appreciate hearing anyones opinions on what might be causing this.
This is my very first post. I hate to bother you so I looked under "Search" using "Global IME Japanese" twice and got totally unrelated virus issues twice so am now forced to bother you. I have Compaq Presario 500 Series Desktop with Windows Home Xp and Service Packs and was able to read Japanese articles on the internet until recently in my Herculean efforts to get rid of BSPlayer that just wouldn't leave, I probably got rid of all my Japanese and Chinese fonts as well so now when I go to Japanese websites all I get are little squares. When I go into Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Supplemental Language Support, Install files for east Asian Languages, I get a message that what is being downloaded is not as new as what I have, but what I have isn't working, obviously, so I command to over-ride previous IME's and download anyway and in a few minutes I get a message saying that it's not possible to download the Japanese Chinese and Korean language IME (they come in one package.) No further explanation. This is my very first post so I'll be checking for a reply.
Service pack 2 OEM disk. Now, I have a Dell laptop. I am upgrading it to its maximum capacity. I am also looking to format everything. I want to create a duel boot XP/Ubuntu system. Now, the problem is my laptop box is long gone, I stumbled across the driver disk but there was no OEM version of XP. So now the two fold question. 1) How do I find out what my XP serial is? 2) How can I find out if it will work with my service pack 2 OEM disk? If the answer to number 2 is 'its not compatible'. How can I reinstall XP without getting a new disk?

Im trying to reinstall XP onto a laptop (Professional, Service Pack 2) and when I get to the Serial Key screen, the key is invalid. I know the key I have is valid (Generated through MSDN site), so I have tried to use a newer version of the disc. When rebooting the machine, it tells me to insert the previous disc....so my question is this. Is there any way I can start the installation from the very beginning, using the newer disc, so that I can use the key?
Is there anyway I can specify a serial number when deploying a package via GPO? Its getting a bit tedious deploying the software then having to input the serial number 60 times.
I just formated a toshiba laptop, and finished installing windows. It worked fine. But when it came time to activate the operating system, it did not recognize the cd key that was printed on the bottom of the lap top. I tried to call the activation phone number, and it didnt recognize the long number generated by the computer which will allow the phone activation
The correct way to key in the serial for Wins 2000 pro "Store Oem Final" I have tried testing on another pc with os Xp to open up the Wins 2000 cd but when key in the serial no., it just keep saying incorrect number. Is there any special steps needed to key in correctly,I have even tried other serial no. found somewhere else and still cannot access.I have used explore to check the disc and there are a lot of datas inside just cannot open the cd with the serial no.
I have what probably amounts to a stupid question, but I honestly can't recall. I've come across an old system that needs to have windows XP reinstalled, and I'm not sure what disk I'm going to require. The System is an old Dell Dimension 4550, and had an install of Win XP pro SP1 installed on it, and has the sticker stuck to the side of it (with the serial). My question is, before I wipe this thing, I want to make sure I have, or can get a Version of XP that will accept that particular serial when I do the reinstall. I'd hate to bring it down and then find that I can't get it to reinstall with its original XP Key.I have access to pressed/original versions of oem/retail Windows XP SP2 for sure.
I may have a version of SP1 somewhere, but I'm not even sure what type it was, I think it worked with Volume License keys (I'm assuming the actual CDs are different for VL OEM and Retail). My question is, are newer versions such as XP Pro SP2, going to be aware of older serial keys?Would XP SP3 work (I hear it doesn't ask for the key at the beginning but at the end), and if so is there a place where the ISO for XP SP3 is legitimately available?I have a valid XP SP1 key, I just want to make sure I can get it back up after I wipe it.
My work recently got new computers, so there were kind enough to let us take our old Dells home since they were like three years old. There was a ton of work stuff on this computer, so I decided to format the hard drive and start fresh. Everything was going great until I got to the place in the install where I have to enter the serial number for Windows 2000. I tried my home copy and it would not work. I tried a few other valid key codes and they still do not work.
I'm basically on 'reinstall not booting Windows XP' duty this week. The problem I have is my father inlaw lost his C.O.A of his tower somewhere between his house, his car and my house, (about 60 miles).I can't boot from his hard drive, however I can 'browse/access' it. I've tried a couple of 'retrieve windows key' programs, which work...on my P.C! I have my key tho! I tried installing one into his hard drive but kept finding my key. Is there a command from 'DOS prompt' or some other measure I can take to recover his serial key?
I'm trying to install Windows XP on my new Serial ATA hard drive, it has been formatted everything seems ok, When I start installing windows XP pro on this machine it seems like it just can't detect the damn hard drive, when I set it as boot on te serial ata drive eeverything works fine, it goes as C:/ but I just can't switch to my cd drive with windows XP to install it.When I boot up my other hrd drive with windows xp, I can actually see my hard drive in windows explorer.
i would like to install the sp2, but i have 1 question that is wondering me, what will happen if i install sp2 USING illegal serial lets just say USED-ALREADY SERIAL,but my windows is legal??
We have a new user at our work place. To make a long story short, he accidentally threw away our serial number for Microsoft server 2003.I am trying not to alert my manager yet, so therefore, I do not want to contact microsoft for a solution, because they would need to speak to him.So i am trying to save his rear-end, how could i retrieve the serial number for our MS SERVER 2003?Can i find this info on our actual server? some where in the registry?
