I have Roadrunner and this computer is on a wireless router, I would like to know if a website uses this IP address or the original from the main computer? If this computer that I'm on has it's own, how can i change it? I was banned from a web site that i would like to get back on, this is why i"am asking.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running xp pro. I can not get an internet connection through my ethernet card. When I hook up my modem through usb it works fine but unable to utilize my full download speed capabilities. Hooked the modem up via ethernet to laptop and it worked just fine. The only thing I can find wrong that I don't know how to fix or what is causing it is the fact that the physical address of the card comes up as the broadcast address (FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF). Very strange.

So I pressed home button of my key board so the My Computer window converted to a web page. But after that the address bar disappeared. I closed the window and restart the machine and opened the internet explorer, but still address bar is missing. I checked under the tools and I can see the tick infront of the address bar.

After we install Windows updates, Windows assigns an APIPA address in the 169.254.x.x range, instead of getting an address from the DHCP server. The effect is that the computer loses connectivity with the network and the Internet. You can confirm this problem by running an IPCONFIG and checking for an address in the 169.254 range.
Releasing and renewing the address does not correct the problem. Assigning a static IP address resolved the issue. Searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base, we found a registry hack that will disable APIPA addressing on the computer, and this does correct the problem so the computer can connect to the network again. We assume that the problem is a result of an update from last Tuesday, but we have not determined which update is the problem. We are still looking. Our concern is that as DHCP leases expire with computers in the field, that this effect may appear. If you get calls for loss of network or Internet connectivity, have the user run IPCONFIG, and if they have an APIPA address, the registry hack is outlined in KB article
I am using Windows XP Home edition. How do you delete an address from the list of automatic webb address list in the Address box? I tried highlighting it and entering delete but it doesn't get deleted.

Sometimes after the crash, I'll get a message floating on the screen "Set resolution to 1280 x 1024" or something like that. The screen has been set the same since I purchased the computer. I use the 1000GB (E for data only, the 80GB (C as my Primary Partition (only trusted apps), and 160GB (Dfor everything else. Lately I noticed that my D: drive was missing, windows shows no sign of it, But all the shortcut icons are in place, clicking one results in "file missing". I got the drive to come back by using safe mode and running msconfig to load only necessary drivers, but the drive disappeared again after some time and I had to repeat the procedure.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a printer/copier/fax/scanner which was working perfectly. It is a Lexmark X1270. My Computer is a HP Multimedia with a windows XP operating system. Suddenly one day it stopped working. the following error message appeared error message: the procedure entry point? GetProductPrefix@LXkProduct@@SA?AVCString@@XZ could not be located in dynamic link library lxczutil.dll. when trying to use the copy function. For the printer function it would sometimes print ONE item. Then to print anything else I have to restart the computer and again it would print only one copy. Unfortunately the original cd with the drivers has been lost so I emailed the lexmark. They asked me to download the driver for X2500. I tried but it did not work as the model number seems different. I sent them 3 reminders for further help which they did not reply! And now again suddenly a few days ago the printer does not even load. Message says 'Spooler service is not running'. And even the other printers are unusable because the fax printer box is empty and I cannot reload a printer ..the same 'Spooler....appears.

Problem is with the Remote Procedure Call (RPC).I have mistakenly disabled this Service from Profiles and when the computer rebooted it opened up into "Safe Mode" and is locked. Can't get it out of safe mode.I tried to undo my mistake and cannot enable this service. Messages say I can't open Properties boxes from any of the Services listed in the My Computer/Manage/Computer Management /Services & Apps/Services... window.
