I am using Win XP Home and before I installed a new printer into my system, I was able to turn the computer on in the morning and by the time I had my coffee ready, the computer was ready to go without asking me to log in. Now, I have to log in and wait. Is there a way for me to eliminate the log in procedure since nobody else ever uses the computer?

installed xp pro over xp home edition(formated).now on bootup i can pick xp pro or home.its gives me so many seconds to choose on black screen.
is there a way to skip that entry on bootup,as i have to pick xp pro.
it seems that you are my last hope. it is really crazy and i am almost thinking about just throwing this whole pc out and maybe buying a macbook instead as soon as i got money .i need my laptop (acer travelmate 292, 1.5ghz, 512 MB, insyde software csu bios ver 1.30) for producing music.i do have an external usb soundcard (edirol ua-25) but windows is just driving me nuts.even by only playing one simple MP3 file in winamp (or just having the windows-starting sound during the boot process) and without running any other software, the sound cracks, skips and jerks around. and that with already assigning the buffer size to "very large". if i chose "very small or medium" it would take me probably 10 seconds to play a 3 second mp3 file.i don't think, it is the sound card mainly, since i tried the onboard realtek soundcard stand alone as well and it is almost as bad. it must be something with windows. i already tried de-installing everything else on the computer, running registry cleaners and virus scanners, etc. - and there was one more tip, saying to "give priority to background processes" or something, but it still doesn't work.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter waking from hibernation, my system has been freezing or crashing. The video is also fuzzy and slightly pixelated for a minute, then it clears up. Sometimes after the crash, I'll get a message floating on the screen "Set resolution to 1280 x 1024" or something like that. The screen has been set the same since I purchased the computer. I did try resetting the resolution, and I am still crashing. I followed the procedure for malware and came up ok.

I use the 1000GB (E for data only, the 80GB (C as my Primary Partition (only trusted apps), and 160GB (Dfor everything else. Lately I noticed that my D: drive was missing, windows shows no sign of it, But all the shortcut icons are in place, clicking one results in "file missing". I got the drive to come back by using safe mode and running msconfig to load only necessary drivers, but the drive disappeared again after some time and I had to repeat the procedure.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a printer/copier/fax/scanner which was working perfectly. It is a Lexmark X1270. My Computer is a HP Multimedia with a windows XP operating system. Suddenly one day it stopped working. the following error message appeared error message: the procedure entry point? GetProductPrefix@LXkProduct@@SA?AVCString@@XZ could not be located in dynamic link library lxczutil.dll. when trying to use the copy function. For the printer function it would sometimes print ONE item. Then to print anything else I have to restart the computer and again it would print only one copy. Unfortunately the original cd with the drivers has been lost so I emailed the lexmark. They asked me to download the driver for X2500. I tried but it did not work as the model number seems different. I sent them 3 reminders for further help which they did not reply! And now again suddenly a few days ago the printer does not even load. Message says 'Spooler service is not running'. And even the other printers are unusable because the fax printer box is empty and I cannot reload a printer ..the same 'Spooler....appears.

Problem is with the Remote Procedure Call (RPC).I have mistakenly disabled this Service from Profiles and when the computer rebooted it opened up into "Safe Mode" and is locked. Can't get it out of safe mode.I tried to undo my mistake and cannot enable this service. Messages say I can't open Properties boxes from any of the Services listed in the My Computer/Manage/Computer Management /Services & Apps/Services... window.

I went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.

I purchased a 200 GB PATA (IDE) drive and it shows up as a 75 GB drive using GParted and under Windows Disk Management. I expected that it would only be recognized as 137 GB, but I can't explain why it only sees 75 GB. I suspect that the BIOS needs to be updated, but I've never done this before so I was looking for a procedure and ideas for trying to find the latest BIOS online.

But you can't get anywhere on the computer, I tried tapping F8 to get to safe mode if it would let me but it keeps saying keyboard failure. Is there something else I should tap for a DELL computer to get to safemode?
