Remote Desktop - Remote Logoff By Other Users?
Feb 20, 2008Here is my problem. I am logged in to a machine via remote desktop and another user with admin rights logs in via remote desktop and logs me off because they assumed that I had forgotten to log off or whatever else. Is there any permission setting either in group policy or elsewhere that would prevent a user attempting to connect via remote desktop from logging off an already logged on user? The problem is that both users are and need to be Admins.

Jul 10, 2005When my Mom proffers an invitation for remote assisance using MSN Messenger 7.0 she recieves the following: "Remote Assistance cannot connect because <user> denied the request for help". I've looked at some of the other, similar, threads posted on connectivity issues with 7.0 in these forums, but nothing seems to help. We can send and recieve each others video and audio. Also, the games work. I've tried to do this with a couple of other freinds with the same result. Before we were forced into the 7.0 upgrade there were no problems.
I've checked my settings to allow RA, reinstalled 7.0, tried using Windows Messenger, and have tried doing this with my firewall (ZoneAlarm) disabled.

Sep 30, 2008Tying to access each others computer using Remote Assistance through window messenger .When I invited her, she was able to accept and see my computer. We would log out and then she would invite me I would accept but I was unable to log into her computer. It would not connect. We turned off the firewall that did not work. Turned off the virus protection that didn't work. Check for file sharing in the firewall all was checked. she can connect to me. But I can't to her. Feb 20, 2005For some reason, if I log on to my account (an administrator account), then log off, none of the other users (my husband's admin. account or the kids' limited user accts) can be signed on. XP sits on the welcome screen for an unusually long time, then goes to just the user's wallpaper screen (no icons, no taskbar, nothing). Can't pull up task manager or warm boot, have to shut down & restart. I can log on any of the other accounts, and log off, and switch to mine, but not vice versa. Even if I don't do ANYTHING after signing on. So, the problems seems to be with my account settings somehow.

Feb 17, 2008I run Windows XP. When I initially got my computer, it was shared by several different people, and I set it up with several different users. Now I am the only one who uses this computer, and I'd like to delete the other users. When I try to delete the other users by going through the control panel and following the instructions, everything is fine until I get to the actual "delete this user". When I click on it, it pauses, and nothing happens. When I hit cntrl-alt-del, I get a message that mhsta.exe is not responding. I have googled this, but I am at a loss as how to how to fix this. Dec 23, 2004Now at the XP Welcome Screen, none of the users show up; I had 4 before I reinstalled XP. If I cnt-alt-del, I get a login screen with one of the users already in the user box. I never set a password for that user, but the login asks for one. A blank just gets an incorrect password response.

What I can see is that when I look at 'Documents and settings' there are extra users directories.
These are:
All Users
All Users.Windows
Defaults Users
Default Users.Windows
I now have 3 Network Services NT
I also have two directories of me.
I can delete them using explorer.
