CPU Usage 100% Programs To Be Closed
Mar 1, 2006My CPU Usage keeps hitting 100%. I don't know what Processes to turn off. Pleazzze help me figure this out.

CPU Usage At 100% - No Programs Running
Dec 18, 2004i have windows xp home and i pressed alt, ctrl, del because one of my progams was not responding and i noticed that the CPU usage was at 100%. i thought it would go down later but when i checked later when no programs were running, it was still at 100%.

Oct 28, 2007Whenever I startup, the computer usage runs way up to 80-100% and it takes forever to start a program. It immidiately starts this whenever I just turn the computer on, and I hear it because the sound that Windows makes at startup gets scratchy and stutters. Once it has started up, if I click on iTunes (for example), once the program pops up and I click on Play, every song stutters. It stutters only at the beginning and then it smooths out, but it does it for every single song played.

Jun 15, 2006this problem has been pissing me off so much. I recently got my new laptop. Straight out of the box, the cpu usage when idle was at around 3%, then i uninstalled all the dell junk programs. Somewhere down the line, the cpu idle shot to 35%. The programs that are causing this are csrss.exe and spoolsv.exe, each taking up about 17 cpu each. When i end spoolsv.exe, I notice that my csrss.exe cpu usage will increase. I reinstalled my windows OS and it seemed fine until the next day, these two processes started acting up again. I don't know what else to do, and i'm sure these processes aren't viruses.

Apr 6, 2007I'm running XP pro SP2. I have a gig of ram and my mother board is an Intel D101GGC. My CPU is Intel Pentium D 920.
If I use Windows Explorer to go deeper than the first level of any tree, CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there. I've disabled System Restore because it wouldn't let me go back in time anyway and this program is a known resource gobbler. Didn't help. I've attached a hijackthis logfile to see if anyone recognizes a Trojan, etc. I would appreciate any help at all.

Mar 14, 2008When I turn on my computer, I get a message that says explorer.exe has closed down and when I try to start Task Manager, it closes that, too. I'm on the computer right now, but I'm using an Ubuntu Live CD.

Feb 1, 2007On my Toshiba laptop running W-XP SP2 it keeps getting 'locked up'. It locks up on shut down, booting, and launching programs. I had to wipe out my hard disk because I had to use the recover disk that came with this Toshiba junk Right now it is locked up with the Spysweeper screen up an the error message is "THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE CLOSED BECAUSE IT IS LOCKED BY THE SYSTEM"!!! Got that when I did Ctrl/Alt/Del. When it locks on shut down I get same message, and same when locks on boot. Only way out seems to be UNPLUG!!! I've already lost everything anyways so it don't matter. Is this a TOSHIBA issue or a W-XP Home Edition SP2 issue?

Now, to make a long story short...Did a safe boot...nothing...closed all running applications and software using task manager when doing so..(closing anti-virus, firewalls disabled and spyware detectors and all). still nothing. Updated ATI driver...nothing.........
Desktop Icons Remain Highlighted After Program Closed
May 26, 2005When I close a program the desktop icon remains highlighted, until I mouse click elsewhere on the desktop. This only presents a real problem when I log off of my dial up server and the icon remains highlighted. If I forget to un-highlight it, my phone won't ring, although my answering machine will pick up the call.

I went to save my drawings, but apparently accidentally saved the photo under the drawins name and then closed the program. This morning I discovered the bad news. 1. remove run in start menu
2. remove search in start menu
3. prohibit command prompt to be use
4. Prevent access to drive access from my computer (drive c: only)
5. Hide specific drive in my computer (drive c: only)
i closed gpedit.msc now i cant re-run gpedit.msc to configure my settings again because i cannot access drive c: where gpedit resides (c:windowssystem32gpedit.msc) i dont want to re-install the whole thing or to start all over again. winxp expert

Aug 17, 2008I recently have begun having problems with my Outlook PST file. This has never occurred before over the many years I have been using the same Outlook file and I believe the problems started happening right around the same time that I put in iTunes onto my PC and started to allow iTunes to sync my Outlook contacts with my iPhone.
My Outlook file still more or less functions normally, but each time I open Outlook I get an error message telling me that the Outlook file was not closed properly the last time it was used and it much be checked for errors. It then does the check, which often it takes 20 minutes while running the check in the background, and each time it finds no errors.

The start programs on list suddenly dont open, computer freezes up, did the error-checking but I cannot seem to get some vital prgrams to open up.
