Generic Host Process Needs To Be Closed On Every Reboot
Dec 15, 2004
Generic Host Process for WIN32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.Seems many people are getting this error message. I've seen that both audio drivers and HP drivers may be to blame. Seen solutions for WIA and DEP changes and also to download the latest .NET framework.Error occurs for me after reboot (always) typically accompanied by a "Error The instruction at "xxxxxxxx" referenced memory at "xxxxxxxxx". The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.
"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services encountered a problem and needed to close"
Several PCs of my LAN including the Server has this problem this week, like a virus.
I installed a Hotfix from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894391 for windows XP SP3 and Windows Server 2003 SP2 but this issue still bothering me.
So I have this problem and it's been driving me crazy for some time now. It seems that "randomly" when I lose connection to my wireless access point, I will get a Generic Host Process for Win32 crash. I have disable the forced shutdown that usually occurs after this happens, but since it renders the system mostly unusable, I have to reboot anyway. What's odd is that it doesn't happen every time I lose connectivity to the network
i have a "generic host process for win32 services" error after i've connected to internet with adsl usb modem.and my connection is lost till i shutdown and restart.i tried lots of things, do a google search but couldn't solve.when i restart the computer and do not dial for internet, no error occurs. but when i dial and start to surf or download something it gives this error at different times. sometimes the error occurs 10 minutes later sometimes 1 hour later.when i dal to the internet my network connection icon(near the time in the lower right corner) says limited connection or there's no connection. i think that's beacuse it cannot receive ip from my ISP.how can i solve this limited connection problem?i removed the drivers installed again, removed the drivers and installed the old ones.do a virus scan with latest updatesdo a system restore but nothig changes.
I'm still having a Generic Host Process (or something) error on startup. It then says the error is something to do with svchost.exe in: I looked there and deleted the directory as there was nothing in the folder.
I just turned on my machine this morning (9/9/2005) and "Generic Host Process for Win 32 Services encountered a problem and needed to close. This error occurred on 8/4/2005 at 12:05:50am" I followed a link to MS site and downloaded a 'fix' for this. But why would this show up 36 days after it happened?
i really dont know what went wrong. i have my nod32 always on.. but still seems like some bug has entered my pc.everything was ok. but i thought about scanning pc using spybot.it found some problems. and i deleted files using spybot.every time that error will come and my internet wont work after that. i cannot even open network connection after that error. all that i can do is restart the pc. but error became very very frequent.so, i used recovery tool for spybot and recovered all deleted files but it error still remained.so, i decided to reinstall windows. just reformatted my C drive and the error still remains.
I have a huge problem with my computer. After logging onto windows, or just browsing online for a few minutes, I get the following error:"Generic Host Process has encountered a problem and needs to close". Whenever that happens, I can't browse the Internet anymore, nor can I access any network services. I have to restart my computer every time I get that error message.
I have tried a system restore and that does not help. I have also found that I can now not see other computers on my network or even route to them. In addition Messenger Live will not log in any longer. They system could be messed up as I was shutting down last night it wanted to do some updates - I let it but this moring it still had the don't shut down screen on after 8 hours of sitting there I shut it down!
I have trend micro protecting win xp. This generic host process is trying to connect out or in, i dont know but if i tighten the firewall up, and ask Trend micro to warn me about all connections, that generic process goes at it like 14 times. Ive tried to look up for myself, but i haven't find info. My questions are what are these process'?can i find out why it wants to connect to the internet?ust how many times does my computer actually need to send connection to the internet?
about every third time I start my computer I get an error message generic host process for win 32 has encountered a problem and needs to close and it gives me a choice to debug, send error report or close, if I choose debug sometimes everything will be ok and sometimes it won't if I choose don't send or close nothing will work and I have to restart my computer by killing the power strip, some times I even have to do this after clicking on debug. can anyone help me out on this problem
When i am doing surfing.. suddenly i got this message" Generic Host Process for Win32 serviceshas encountered a problem and needs to close". (Picture Attached
when i start this error message shows up... Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close it is scaring the life out of me because so far it has caused MAJOR problems, when i close a window, the taskbar will not be in winxp view but an older versions, and it has messed up my sound. when i click on the sound icon it says "there are no active mixer devices available." the sound problem has never happened before
After booting into XP I get this error stating that Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. This Error has made my computer invisible on the network, and making it inaccessible for any other computers on the network to contact this computer
For the past several days I've started to get this error message while on line. Just after the error I can no longer send or receive anything email or browser.I can't even go off line. Restarting Windows is the only way to correct this situation. The problem occurs at random times but usually 30 minutes to an hour after I go on line.Attached is a snapshot of the actual error.
Whenever i start up my computer an error message window pops up saying:
svchost.exe-application error the instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory at "0x00000010." The memory could not be "written." Click OK to terminate the program, Click Cancel to debug the program
I've noticed recently there is ongoing, intermittant internet activity when I'm on-line using dialup. This is a fairly new condition. The main reason it came to my attention was I've been downloading win updates from the catalog site to keep on my external drive for potential future use, and the download speed would randomly slow down.
I went into my Zone Alarm (free version 7.0.470.000) and looked at the programs currently granted permission to access the internet trusted zone. Among them was "Generic Host Process for win32 services". I changed the stauts to "Ask" and since then the intermittant activity has stopped, but I get the ZA popup asking for access by that svchost.exe executable
Well I get the message"Generic Host Processes has encountered a problem and needs to close"Also option to Send and don't sent the error report. When I click on Don't send option,My net connection disconnects automatically after few seconds.I know many people have reported that it is a virus and for this I have installed Antivirus also. But this is the only virus Iam encountering everytime I reinstall Windows XP.
I have error appearing: "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".It's strange it appeared in 3 diferent computers, all with Windows Xp Sp2.It's not a virus, or at least McAfee anti-virus doesn't find anything. It's not drivers, I have not touch a perfect working Laptop and after a while of being connected to the net this error appears! Sometimes at the beginning sometimens after 15min or more!
I have Windows XP Home Edition and lately I've been getting a pop-up everytime I start up my computer that reads:To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program Generic Host Process for Win32 Services. click ok, send an error report once, then have to do battle with this pop-up -- clicking ok and closing it at least five more times before I can finally access my desktop. Then it takes forever for IE to load. Do I have spyware on my computer again????
Generic Host Process Crash So I have this problem and it's been driving me crazy for some time now. It seems that "randomly" when I lose connection to my wireless access point, I will get a Generic Host Process for Win32 crash. I have disable the forced shutdown that usually occurs after this happens, but since it renders the system mostly unusable, I have to reboot anyway. What's odd is that it doesn't happen every time I lose connectivity to the network.
ive a question about a "Generic host process encountered a problem and finally ive decided to format my hd. reinstalled win xp family, and i noticed that neither my sound nor my video card was working and that i couldn t use usb devices that usually work without drivers. i plugged my internet connection (cable) and then ie always crashed. so i did not manage to download windows updates this way. i decided to active auto-updates, and, a few seconds later, ive seen the message: "Generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem".
I am running XP2000 and I'm a new user. When I boot up a window appears over my home screen that says.... "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services encountered a problem and needed to close. Please tell Microsoft about this problem. "Under this are two boxes, one says "send report", the other says "don't send" I click on "don't send" and the message goes away. What's going on here?
Does anyone know why my firewall stops "generic host process for win32?I get this all the time. I just click ok, I won't unlock my firewall because I don't know what this is for. Is it something with XP sp2? I never had this before. Sometime I get it one after after another, its anoying. It isn't spyware is it? How can I stop this from happening?
I've got a machine (with an AMD 1+ Gb CPU, 512Mb RAM etc running Win XP Pro & Linspire 5.0 Linux OS) with two separate and independently booted hard drives. Drive 1 (normally 'C') is 40Gb., Drive 2(designated 'F' by Windows) is 80Gb.I originally had Win XP running on a single HDD (C). A second HDD was installed (F - automatically designated by XP). Windows XP was reinstalled on this new (80Gb)HDD and all the data from the original HDD was transferred to the new one, everything worked fine, with XP now booting on the new (F) drive.
So here's the deal: I try booting into windows one day, and I can't even get as far as the boot screen. Safe mode only results in a hard reboot, so I decided to run a repair install of windows XP. After doing this, several things started going wrong: - At startup I receive a message "generic host service for win32 needs to close" - Explorer's theme reverts to windows classic after a few minutes - several key services are not running at startup, i.e windows audio, DCHP client - at one point my audio randomly cut out and my screen began to fade to white, but the computer's been fine since, I just want some input before I decide to try running another repair install to see if there's any other way to remedy this situation.
