I restarted Windows (XP PRO), and it hung on the reboot
before getting to the Win logo. I rebooted again and again and it
never progressed to Windows. Nothing had been troubling before this.
I tried booting from the Windows CD, but got the following error:
Inf file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 32768. Setup
cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
Any suggestions?

This morning when I went to log into windows it would not except my full pass word. 1 letter short. I put my windows disk in and waited a few minutes and when it came up hit any key to boot from disk I hit a key and waited a short while and log in screen was up and tried again and pass word went right in.
My PC always reboot... anyway, when trying to reformat or to repair, this error found "INF file txtsetup.sif is corrrupt or missing, status 4096. Setup cannot continue.Press any key to exit." is this a virus? im using OS (windows xp sp2). Is there a way to retrieve my files using repair? because i have a lot of files there.
I get this error when booting up from an xp pro disc rite after it sais it's analyzing hardware it shows this..
exact error message- line 4813 of the inf file i386 xtsetup.sif is invalid setup cannot continue.
I looked in that txtsetup.sif file in the xp cd and the line looks like lwusbhid.sys = 1,,,,,,,,3,3
but above it shows the inf file lwusbhid.inf = 1,,,,,,,20,0,0 just that one is on a different line.. 4812
If you could give me advice lol.. on the internet all it tells me is it's a cd issue, cables, hd, memmory etc. but I have no clue as im a hardware noob :X the only thing I checked really is it's not a cd rom drive shaking issue or one with the hard drives since I disconnected that
What do the following error messages indicate an attemp to reinstall XP Pro.cannot load: pci.sys setupdd.sys (errpr code 7) serial.sys Line 1093 of INF file I386 txtsetup.sif in invalid.
Here goes, the other day I booted up my PC and it showed "windows can not boot, ntfs.sys is missing or corrupt" so I did this. Microsoft support. I replaced the file in the recovery console and everything copied over fine. Then I booted up again and I received an error message before windows displayed my login screen --lsass.exe "endpoint is invalid" click ok and my computer reboots. Windows at that time was booting all the way up though. I found this support article but did not help Microsoft support This error does not allow me to boot into safe mode or regular windows but I can get into the recovery console.
Dell Inspiron 9100, 1 GB mem, 60 GB HD, Win XP Home 2002 SP3. Kept clean with TE Pro, cseraser, syswiper, Adaware, Spybot S&D, AWC V2, Regcure, RegscrubXP. McAfee current. Win XP SP's and updates current.
Boot failed after POST with (as near as I can remember, sorry!) "missing or corrupt HAL.DLL"
This has happened twice. The first time it happened (a year or so ago), I reinstalled XP. I also installed a second installation of Win XP in a WINDOWS2 dir. Set up boot.ini to allow me to select WINDOWS or WINDOWS2 to boot from. Figured this would help if it happened again.
i have dual boot on two HD, both XP Pro SP2 suddenly one of them (drive C can not boot. "Missing or corrupt HAL.DLL" i have google & see Microsoft Knowledge and try some advice but still no work.
I have downloaded Windows XP Home Edition Utility: Setup Disks for Floppy Boot Install from the MSDN download centre.I have run the executable WinXP_EN_Home_BF.exe and produced the 6 Startup floppy disks. When I boot my PC using the startup floppy disks I get the following error on disk #5 "Corrupt CDRom.sys"Where can I get a version that works error free?
I get an error message that the WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM file is "missing or corrupt". How do I repair this. I can only boot off the CD and either do a repair/reinstall or DOS repair.
As the title says my pci.sys in the system32drivers folder is missing or is corrupt, so I can't boot windows. The only possible solution is to start the recovery console and type:set AllowAllPaths = true expand d:i386pci.sy_ c:windowssystemdrivers32 If you don't type set AllowAllPaths = true you can't access the windows folder, thus I cannot fic the pci.sys. Well the problem is I don't have the Set command enabled, and It can only be enabled with MMC, but how the hell am I supposed to enable the Set command when I cant access MMC? Dilemma >.< don't wanna reinstall Windows XP again... So is there a way to get Set AllowAllPaths = true to work without MMC?
I'm getting the System32driverspci.sys missing or corrupt message when trying to boot XP.Now, I've tried going to my recovery console and tryed "expand drive:i386pci.sy_ C:winntsystem32drivers /y" all I get is access denied. So then I re-booted from my XP disk and pressed enter to install windows xp. Now supposedly I sould get a repair "r" option, but I don't. It tells me I need to format to install. I guess when you recived that "r" option it will bring you the option of typing the admin passsword so I won't get the access denied message when I'm expanding. The bottom line is that there is one REALLY important folder I need of my C: drive and really don't care about anything else.
XP PRO SP2- Recieve the following message upon unsuccessful boot attempt. "WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT: <WINDOWS ROOT> SYSTEM32HAL.DLL (not yelling ) I have tried to boot from my xp pro cd to utilize the recover utility however the computer will not boot from the cd. I able to use a dos boot disk however my keyboard is USB and I cannot find USB drivers to work under dos, so I was unable to do anything at that point. It was my hope that I could work through dos to edit the boot.ini file.
I do not want to reinstall windows. If I have to I will place the hard drive in another computer as a slave and work on it that way but I'd rather not. The only other tower type computer I have other then laptops is running xp home SP2.
Windows couldnt start because following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM. You can attempt to repair file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select?r? at the first screen to start repair. what do do? takes me to repair consol and then? i tried to fixboot.
When Windows XP boots up, an error message states that a system file is corrupt or missing. Which command scans Windows system files for missing or corrupt operating systems files and replaces them with the correct Microsoft versions?
So this morning I left my laptop on while going to college and then work, after work I came home the laptop was off. Weird I thought I start it up and It keeps giving me an error that the "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM".It tells me to instert the Windows XP cd, or set up cd.Now I havent done it yet because I want to know is there anyway to save my stuff that I have on my harddrive? and DO NOT WANT IT TO FORMAT MY HARDDRIVE.The reason is I have FINAL PROJECTS for my term papers and also FINALS and all information related to college. I am really worried that I dont have it anymore and I dont know what I would tell my college proffesors. Please someone if you know how to save the portion of the disk thats not windows please help.
My friend's comp isnt working it gets the following error during boot up
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM"
I tried the windows support method to recovering from a corrupt registry..after I created a temp folder I entered the first copy line copy c:windowssystem32configsystems c:windows mpsystem.bak...it says that this file does not exist....any help would be greatly appreciated
whenever I boot the system, I come up with the following message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>system32 toskrnl.exe re-install a copy of the above file. every time I try to boot the CD, the same error message occurs. I've already tried to change the boot order so the CD-ROM drive would be first. I have also selected the CD-ROM drive to be the boot device, but the message always pops up.
Early last week I ran a Windows update on my Compaq SR1625NX and upon restart it would not boot Windows. I tried "last good configuration", "debug mode" and "safe mode" to no avail. It always restarts while booting Windows. I tried both the built-in "recovery console" and the recovery discs I bought from HP/Compaq upon the advise of an online support person. When loading the recovery console either way the blue screen pops up and tells me there is a problem with the "ntfs.sys" file.
I come to boot up the computerwhen booting in normal mode or safe mode I get the message system32/drivers/ntfs.sys is missing or corrupt please insert original windows disk and press 'r' on the first screen. so i put in the disk and it says boot CD but then after a while it just comes up with the same message telling me to insert original disk.I have tried this now with 2 different windows disks, iv changed to boot settings and this still does not work.
I'm getting a WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM message all of a sudden!DESPERATELY need to copy some personal files somewhere before trying to restore / reformat
I have had my Dell computer for about a month. When I boot up I get a message saying that I can't boot up because <windows root> System32NTOSKRNL.EXE is missing or corrupt. I get the same thing for system32DRIVERS NTFS.SYS.
my file windows/system32/config/system is corrupt. it says i can boot with the CD and use the "R"epair function. I do that and it takes me to DOS where I can roam around my harddrive and the windows CD. now how do I find this file to replace it? because on the windwos CD there is no "system" file in the directory I386/system32/config/. I've tried to copy it from my other computer, but since it's using the file I cant'!
I am unable to boot my PC most of the times.Whenever I switch on my PC,I see the following message nine ot of ten times. DiskError/Boot Faliure Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot media in selected boot device If I press enter after this messages & keep pressing following messages appear from time to time (Not simultaneously). If just after making the switch on, I press F2 key to check the boot device preference
If just after making the switch on , I press f11 key to reach the boot menu I always find the 1.44 MB Floppy option highlighted as the booting choice.(though there had not been any floppy in the floppy drive, I dont have any really)I make the hard disk option highlighted & it solves the problem only a few times. But next time when I try F11 key to check the boot menu again I find 1.44 MB floppy highlighted.
I have a problem with an application starting to load and then a message coming up stating that there was a problem with the "ntdll.dll" file.
I even located a copy to download, placed that in the WindowsSystem32 folder and each time I continue to attempt to launch this application, it partially starts up, then hangs and then gives me the error message.
Is there something I am not doing correctly? Any suggestions? It had been working just fine for the past year or so and about a month ago, BOOM, this error message came up.
I am Running XP home and has a corrupt ntdll.dll. The person I am helping tried reinstalling wimdows to a different directory to bring the computer up. How to replace the nt.dll file from the initial install.
it all started when i went on my second partition which had windows vista beta 2 installed on it, well, i started fooling around and i messed something up, so, i went back into my partition 1 which had windows xp pro on it, so i went into a program on my computer called partition manager, and i deleted partition number 2, or i think i just formatted it again, not really sure, but, then i started downloading the vista beta again cuz i needed to reinstall, so then after the download finished, i restarted the computer and came across an error, windows boot manager wasnt allowing me to go into my first or 2nd partition, when i tried to go on my first partition with winxp pro, it said that ntldr.exe was corrupt, and when i tried on my 2nd, the one i supposedly formatted or deleted, it said boomgr.exe is corrupt, so what i did was installed windows xp 64 bit edition, but i am having problems booting into that as well because my monitor is blank and all it says is output signal out of range change to 1280 x 1024, so im running 64 bit edition in safe mode right now, but what i need help is booting into my winxp pro partition
Today while booting up my computer I was came across a serious problem. Each time my computer begins to boot up It comes to a black screen saying: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:system32driverspci.sys I have no idea how this problem occured. My computer has been running fine and this is the first time ive ever encountered a problem like this. Problem is after I hit R to repair and it goes to the black screen with just C prompt
my dvd-rom driver is corrupt or missing (error code 39) apparently!ive tried system restore but it cant be restored and ive tryed troubleshooting but this didnt work, ive tryed uninstalling the device but now it cant be reinstalled so what can i do? i keep going round in circles.
I am running a dell Dimension 4600 that came with windows XP installed from the begining. XP worked fine with no problems at all. All this changed however when i installed Windows 2000 prfessional. It was installed on the same hard drive and on the same partition to XP. Windows 2000 runs without any problems but now i want to remove it. Windows XP now fails to boot if picked from the boot options. Here is the error "Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windowssystem32configsystemd Startup options for windows 2000, press F8.You can attemp to repair this file by starting windows 2000 setup using the original setup floppy disk of CD-Rom. Select `r` at the first screen to repair. "
