My computer is running horribly slow and so I've tried to enter safe mode but I get a blue screen with instructions. It says to check to be sure you have adequate disk space. Says to disable the driver (causing problems) or check with manufacturer for driver updates or try changing video adapters.I cannot get into safe mode at all to run spybot (freezes when in regular mode).I had to type this from another computer. The technical information is:*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0x80537009, 0xF7A2B1B4, 0xF7A2AEB0)Thank you
I've been messing with and Googling this problem all day and am stumped My laptop: Toshiba A105-S4134 XP SP2 MCE 2005 Intel T2400 Duo Core 2 GB RAM1. Two days ago I had a glitch - a bunch of browser windows were open and the system just sort of froze up. I ended up doing a hard restart. The PC then took a longer than normal time to boot back up.2. That made me nervous, so yesterday I made True Image images of both partitions on the HD, that is C: (OS and apps) and D: (data).3. This morning I decided to run a memory diagnostic disk (I had memtest86+ and Windows Diagnostics CDs on hand). I set boot priority to CD/DVD ROM using Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware Settings
My laptop (the same one I've had for over two years) suddenly won't enter standby mode at all. When I close the laptop, it just hangs on the "entering standby mode" screen and drains the battery. When I open it up again, it shows that screen, and I have to press the power button to turn it off completely and start all over. When I try to put it in standby mode manually (by selecting it in the "turn off computer" options, the same thing happens. It seemingly started out of the blue and Every time I close it now, I have to completely shut it down, which is a pain.
I went into bios and disabled the search for the A: drive , because i couldn't care less. then it brought me to the screen to choose to open in safe mode, normally, or from the last point where windows worked well. problem : i can not use my keyboard in this setting, it works in bios, but i cant choose to load from the last working point of the OS.
Updated my computer using automatic updates. I unfortunately didn't pay attention to the updates that were being installed. After a restart, I got the following error:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen sppears again, follow these steps: Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a drive is identified in the stop message, disable the driver of check the manufacturer for driver updates. Check with our hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable any memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select advanced startup options, and then slect safe mode.
I tried booting into "Safe Mode" to defrag my computer. Before it goes into "Safe Mode" I get a blue screen stating that "I must remove improperly installed software to proceed". I have not installed any software. I have replaced my cd-rom burner and it is working properly. Any ideas on how a I may access "Safe Mode"?? I am running 2000 pro. Also is there a way I can see what the "Administrative Password" on Win 2000 pro.? I set up a friends computer with 2000 and I didn't enter a password. Apparently, someone else has entered one but can not remember it, thus their computer is useless without the password.
had blue screen so re-started in safe mode and searched for suggested problem....MpFirewall.sys.......found 2 files.........removed them to recycle bin because didn't know what to do with them. Can i safely delete now and what else should I do?
i am working on a friends computer .she installed a program and all was ok after that . she turned off the computer and went on holiday for a week . came back started the computer and received an error message "Windows cannot start " if windows doesnt start normally . windows will restart " a mesage similiar tothis ..and she receives the same message everytime .. On starting up my PC I am unable to get past the initial BIOS readout it gets as far as 'Mouse Initialized' and then freezes. Pressing F8 does not work nor following the displayed message 'Press F2 to enter SETUP'
I've tried several times to start in safe mode on XP. All of the guides I've referenced say F8 is the key. However, when I boot, the only functions I see on the screen that only lingers for a moment are F10 and esc.I've tried the tapping method also. Nothing.I'm talking about an hp notebook
I used to be able to access it perfectly fine but i went to safe mode and got the blue screen with the 0x0000007B error. My windows works fine but the safe mode.I know it was caused by a virus, i just don't know how to fix it.I scanned with everything but still could not find it
I am having trouble booting up my laptop. It goes to the "windows" screen the a blue screen flashes for just a second and the only thing I can read is "a problem has occured" because of the short duration the screen is up...there is a lot more words on there but I don't have time to read it all. Then it goes to the option screen to restart or start in safe mode...which is what I'm in at this time.
I get a blue screen then it restarts in a loop, so I have tried to start in safe mode however this reads the hard drive then goes into a similar loop of getting a blue screen and restarting. I have the windows XP disk and code, but wondered whether by reinstalling windows all data would be lost? I would, if at all possible prefer to get the data from the hard-drive, is there any way to do this. Also, I am not entirely sure on how to re-install it anyway.
I now get a BSOD saying: BAD_POOL_CALLER and the tech info says:*** STOP: 0X000000C2 (0x00000007, 0x00000CD4, 0xc033F175, 0xF77C0AFC)This is even when I try to boot in fail safe mode.Is there a way to get past this?
When trying to start XP Media Center 2005 in safe mode, it completes loading Mups.sys, the screen goes blank and flickers slightly like it's changing video modes, and i get a "BSOD"/blue screen (photo attached)The computer boots normally in XP when booted normally, and in Kubuntu 7.04/Feisty and Kubuntu 7.10/ Gutsy when booted normally and in recovery mode.I suspect the problem may have to do with the failed install of the Netscape Activex Wrapper Plugin from buzzen.com which (supposedly) lets Gecko-based browsers run Activex scripts intended for IE7, but I'm not sure as I haven't used safe mode in some time
Just the other day i reset my computer but to my surprise it did not load up XP, instead it stayed with a black screen with a flashing underscore in the top left hand corner. I thought it meant it was taking longer to load but it is just stuck there and i can't access my files!
I have changed the VGA settings for my monitor and after re-boot, I have a blank screen (after the windows start up). I've tried to start in safe mode, but it just runs a bunch of scripts and stalls. I've also tried to start it in any other safe mode, and they do the same thing. I've tried the "last known good configuration" - I get the blank screen. Since I just replaced the hard drive 2 days ago (the old one crashed)
I cannot enter safe mode in Windows XP Home Edition by rebooting and pressing F8. The last thing I did to my computer was add a second hard drive, reboot, and, press F1. When I did that, I saw "entering setup". I looked around, didn't change anything and exited. I have re-installed WinXP and still can't enter safe mode.
I have Linux and Windows XP sp2 home Have tried searching the forum without any results Tried f8 when script for grub appears but have been unsuccessful
I have a standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse which do not work as I try to enter Safe mode. As I am on Windows 2000 Pro, I need to log on as administrator. I am not password protected, but have no way of clicking the Log in button. There are no settings for Keyboard or Mouse in my BIOS setup
i have windows home xp edtion on parkard bell.in safe mode it is fine, but when on normal bootup mode it will hang up after 2mins aprox(then restart saying crit error, check hardware etc and being to dump files kernel),on a blue screen.
Running a computer I purchased with Windows XP Pro installed (No CD). Will not enter SAFE MODE when tapping F8 during bootup. Would not enter safe mode even after deliberately crashing the computer (pulled the power cord while computer was running).
When I start PC, it automatically takes me to the startup options part to reboot in safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, safemode w/ prompt, last known good config, & normal startup. Getting Stop c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file) SystemRootSystem32Config
For some reason my computer won't enter standby mode on its own. Most of the time it won't start a screen saver either. I have it programmed to start the screen saver after 3 minutes and to enter standby mode after 15 minutes. However, I'll come back an hour later only to find that the battery has been completely drained. Anyone know why my computer won't enter standby mode or start its screen saver?
I cannot get Windows XP to boot up even under the f-8 admin safe mode. Also, when it does act like it's going to start, the 'BLUE PROGRESS BUBBLE BAR' stops and freezes on the last 'BLUE BUBBLE', what's with that?
Very similar to the following problem but i do not have a raid, and it seems that this PC has a raid and i don't, plus it was never really determined what the actual solution was.
The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.
All 3 safe mods work fine.
Ran chkdsk /r in recovery. Ran proper fixboot procedure.
Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.
The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: AmdK8 Fips nod32drv
Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.
I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.any help?
