Big Registry - Delete Commands To Get Back
Jan 31, 2007
I came back later, turned it on, and BAM! I ended up with a blue screen whining about not being able to load a registry hive, C:WindowsSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE in particular. So I google searched on my brothers machine for a way to fix it, which pretty much involved loading up 6 annoying Win XP boot floppies that takes days to load (Ok i'm exagerating a little there....) and getting into the Recovery Console to perform some copy/delete commands to get myself back to previous registry files.
Which to my dismay, I found out that it took me back to the stone age (like when XP was first installed, infact to me it seemded like it had gone back even further).

I have this login/logoff problem where whenver I log in, it just loggs back off. So I found this site has a solution that uses the xp recovery cd:when i use the copy command, windows tells me "The system cannot find the file specified" So what do I do. Can I somehow copy the files from the windows xp cd to my hard drive, then use the copy command.

I tried to delete the registry entries which were bad, I had 30 of them, but the these two will just not go away, even by doing them manually, such as saving as a backup then deleting it manually and remerging. They just show up no matter what I do, or so use programs like Registry Mechanic, which I found only mediocre, very far from the ratings. to delete these two entries somehow from someone who is actully knows how to without using several so called registry cleaners, which only work partially.

Click on START - RUN and type: Regedit (press ENTER). On the menu bar click on file, then export, choose where you want to save it, then enter a name for it in the box titled: File Name. At bottom put a tick in "All", then click on save. If you ever want to restore the saved version, just IMPORT it. System Restore (it should save a copy daily, but you can always create a restore point manually. The best method, in my opinion, is to download and run ERUNT. It's the best registry backup utility available.

While troubleshooting a failed internet connection (Windows XP Home, SP 2) I installed Windows Internet Explorer 7.0 (probably a beta version) that wasn't downloaded from the windows website. I've since uninstalled it, so I am now running IE 6, but IE 7 left something behind. Now, when I connect to the internet I get to my home page, but when I select a link I get a blank web page and the error message "Windows cannot find ˜(null). Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click Search.Through research on the internet I've found that the registry key "C93E5AB5-7B71-4C31-B6B2-7F922A551EFF" needs to be deleted to fix my problem. I've tried with no success. I've tried adding "Everyone" to the registry users, changing the permissions so all users can access the registry and tried to delete the key, downloaded Registry Fix software, I've tried deleting it using regedit and regedt32 and I've run the program IE7betakey.reg with no success.

i have a problem with IE in the URL address bar i get "10 kinghost", this looks like a porn site. The pc is used by several staff members. I have run spybot, cw shreader, an MS anti spyware, norton antivirus. but nothing gets rid of it. Spybot finds 5 registry changes says it fixes them but when i run it again they are still there, are they the problem? Is there an easy way to remove. I have started using firefox instead, but find it slower, so want to revert back to IE.

Need something to back up & restore the entire Windows Registry, with emphasis on ENTIRE.I have been using a utility called ERUNT to back up and restore the Windows 2000/XP registry; but, I dicovered today that it doesn't restore the entire registry. Is there a utility anywhere that will back up and restore the entire registry, preferable a free one but doesn't have to be free if it's cheap?

After cleaning all the spyware off of my computer and gaining control back, I am still left with one last thing. There is a Blue "Spyware Infection" Screen that wont seem to go away. I am not real versed in Registry use but I was informed to
Start Regedit
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
Delete the entry 'Wallpaper.htm'

My three PCs run XP Pro with all patches. I am going to give a try to making some registry changes to tweak some things. Other than making a restore point, what is the best simple method to back up the registry, and be 99.999999999 % confident that you will be able to restore it should things go down the tubes. I would like to have a redundant backup in some method other than a restore point.

While surfing through the internet I found someone who solved this problem and has a way to fix it. There are 2 registry keys in the registry that are causing the problem. It affects the explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe files. This is the key that needs to be deleted. Once these keys are deleted the desktop and internet explorer should come back to life.I was looking on here to see how to bring my desktop/icons back up.my pc will boot but itll get to where the desktop should be and all i see is the wallpaper not even the taskbar appears....ive tried Last Known Good Config and safe mode.still nothing.so from readin that post above,i concluded they had the same problem and thus now ahs the solution.my question: how do i get to delete them registry files from jsut a command prompt(brought through windows task manager(ctrl+alt+del))?also i can't afford to system restore,i have all ym importent bill files and money records adn what not on their.i have this pc and that oen entworked...but sicne the explorer.exe don't laod up and bring up the deskltop i can't access the files on that pc because it says location unknow using my network place!

So a long time ago, my computer crashed when i was working with a folder I had made on my desktop. Now, no matter how many times I drop it in the recycle bin, and then empty the bin, or right click and delete it, or delete it from windows explorer. It keeps coming back It will be gone for a while... and then even within minutes. it just shows back up.

My computer had a file that I wanted to remove but instead got this message:Cannot delete file: Access is denied. The file is in use by another program or user.I was told to install unlocker to remove the file. I right-clicked unlocker on that file and it said there is nothing to be unlocked so I deleted the file through the unlocker options. I checked the recycling bin to see if it ended up there but that file was not in the recycling bin. I thought nothing of it and assumed it's gone for good but after I restarted the computer it came back. I also scanned and removed all the bugs from my computer but still no use. It keeps coming back. Although the file keeps coming back it contains nothing and takes up 0 space.

I have a rather strange registry problem that I can't seem to fix. It's a truncated key in the HKLM/System/Control Sets(all)/Control/Media Categories/ and the key has been truncated ie. {C1j8C09B-11D8-4fa5 and the rest is gone. Regedit can't open or delete it and exporting the category cleans it up but the import still includes it since it can't be deleted. Error message is "Cannot open {C1j8C09B.... Error while opening key." Do you have a method that might accomplish the fix. It's not causing any harm yet since it resides in an area that defines speaker jacks that I don't use but I really want it clean and a reinstall is out of the question with 30 years of custom data and op sys mods.

I think my computer has a worm. I've been using A2 and Ad-aware to try to clean it up, unsuccessfully. It says it found trojan horses and eliminated them but they're always back.
- My automatic updates are shut off, can't fix it.
- My service Pack 2 disappeared, along with the firewall.
- Sophos became disabled.
- My CD drive is only recognized periodically

I run Windows XP Home, SP 2, with all patches and upgrades through the latest MS Update. I use an HP Pavilion Desktop. I have extensive realtime spyware/antivirus protection and scan daily for viruses and spyware. I think the machine is clean. I have used a 3rd party uninstaller program for about 8 months. It will detect 9 invalid uninstall entries--they are Registry Keys

I downloaded a bunch of spyware by mistake this morning from a link my friend gave to me, he was unaware as well. I was able to get rid of the majority of it, but there are a few things in my registry i am unable to delete, i used spy bot to get rid of most of the spy ware but for some reason it is not detecting the rest, also ad aware detects it but is unable to remove it since it is running in the background, i am unable to find the processs from task manager and end it so i cant delete it from the registry manually. What it is doing is bascially spamming pop ups on my pc every so often, here are the suspected names of the infections : mpise.dll , h22o0cf3ef2.dll , h62o0gf3e62.dll.
