Background Switches From Tile To Stretch
Aug 9, 2005Every time I set my background to tiled, minutes (sometimes seconds!) later XP changes it to stretch. You can watch the change take place.

Lost The Ability To Stretch Or Tile Wallpaper In XP
Feb 28, 2009Did Windows recently send out any updates that would have removed the option to stretch or tile wallpaper on the desktop? As recently as last week I applied new Wallpaper to my desktop then as usual right clicked on the desktop and selected stretch to fill the screen. Today I again changed the Wallpaper but when I right click on my Desktop and select properties there is no longer any option button to select tile or stretch. While searching for information about this I saw a post by someone else who described the exact same problem.

Sep 16, 2005I am going to have a comp with win xp pro and use this computer as a storage server where i am going to share the drives and folder so a few user can save and retrieve their files from there of course thr a network where the enviroments is still NT but this computerwill be runnin win xp pro , the questions are
1- having 2 nics on this comp will benefit the speed access to this computer from those users that will save there and retrieve files ?if so, can anyone explain in short what i am suppose to do(or any link that explain how to procced to do this? does each NIC from this computer should connect to a different switch or both nics should be connected to the same switch ?
Pro Display Properties - Grayed Out And Fixed On Stretch
May 15, 2006In Display properties when clicking the Desktop tab the Position option is greyed out and fixed on "stretch" but all other options can be customised.

Feb 14, 2008For some reason, my desktop/wallpaper isn't going all the way to the right margin. There is about a 1/2" area of just black at the far right side. I checked my settings and it's set to be "centered". I tried the "stretch" setting and that didn't work either. I haven't messed with any settings or recently installed any new software.

Sep 3, 2009Windows that the program opens for that particular worksession are in another order than it used to be. As a consequence of that, the tiles on the bottom of the screen are now in a different order than what I am used to. I want to change that so that the tiles on the bottom of the screen are in the same order as before.
Program does not appear to allow any changes in the order in which it opens the windows, so the only option would then be to change the order of the tiles after opening a worksession.
Cannot Undo Tile - Change Winndow Size Permenently Fails
Dec 12, 2008I opened two internet explorer windows by clicking the shortcuts on the quick launch bar.
I tiled these windows vertically ( windows xp home edition ).
I right clicked on the task bar and clicked on the undo tile option.
This appeared to work - however clicking the internet shortcuts on the quick launch bar on another day produced a window of tile size.

Jan 3, 2009One of the kids downloaded rapid antivirus and it's screwed everything up. I've managed to get rid of therapid AV, but it looks like I've got some malware/adware of some sort running. Attempts to get to symantec, mcaffee, avg, etc give site not available results in IE 7 - includes techguy.org!!!!, but non-"fixit" sites like google and everything else in the world I can get to. Every few clicks, the url is redirected to an ad site. I've run adaware and trendmicro which found Troj_vg_fcx and removed it, but the problem persists.

Background But No Desktop
Sep 16, 2007A friend has a Compaq laptop running Windows XP. When you power up the system, the Windows XP logo screen comes up and then the desktop background comes up but it stops there. You never get any desktop icons or taskbar so there is no way to navigate. If anyone has any suggestions on how to debug this it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oct 18, 2004I'm using XP Home Edition, with all updates installed. For some reason, I can't change the background wallpaper on my screen. I right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then select the Desktop tab. There is only one wallpaper listed in the Background list, as well as the (None) option, which works. Unfortunately, I can only switch between (None) and my current wallpaper. Browse works, in that I can search my computer for other images. But when I select any of those images nothing happens. The current wallpaper remains in the preview screen, and the wallpaper I selected through browsing doesn't show up in the Background list. (I can Center, Stretch and Tile my current wallpaper.)
