Automatically Launching Application After Logon - Standalone System

For the past 2-3 days, I am facing a wierd problem. When launching any program in Windows XP SP2 ( be it wither IE or Word or Excel), a COMMAND WINDOW Opens up and remains open till the application is shut down. Closing the Window also closes that application. I have Mcafee Anitvirus which is kept Current and I use SpyBot S&D for Adware and Malware removal. Here is the commands that appear in the Window and these are pretty much same for any application.
:certgr >> LibMain: DLL_Process_Attach, hinstDLL=0
:certgr >> DLLRegisterServer called
:certgr >> DLLRegisterServer: crypt32 found, installing cert hooks....

i'm currently using XP Powertoy to automate the login process of my PC.
I've entered my Domain username and password so that everytime when the PC
boots up it will automatically log me on. The problem that i'm having is that
if there's a power failure and the PC boots up when i'm not there , others
will have access to my files and folders. Is there any way to automatically
lock the PC after the logon process.

Tech guy has altered something on her XP OS to append a .pdf extension to any file she downloads from the net. I understand that it was for her own protection as she can't execute any viruses, but it needs to be disabled to allow her to upgrade her flash player. I know the work around is to download the standalone file and manually remove the .pdf but would prefer to nip the problem in the bud.

The situation: A reasonably new PC, clean and working properly. Several new programs are installed, including Firefox, Winamp, desktop publishing, photo manager, and security software (not the antivirus, standalone scanners.) Everything appears to be fine.I log on to Windows Live OneCare to use their "Safety Scanner" to, as they say, check for PC health issues and optimize performance. Mind you, the site recommends users log on once a month for the full service scan. As you know, the scan includes the removal of what it refers to as invalid registry entries. "Oh boy," right? The registry. Except you'd like to believe the official Microsoft site won't screw up your programs.

My computer starts up normally. It always just autologs on since I'm the only one using my windows xp computer. However, before anything can be displayed it immediatley logs off to the logon screen. I click my username and start the login process (i have no password and before even switching to my wallpaper or anything it says stuff like logging out and saving your settings.
I tried booting in safe mode too and the same infinite logon loop occured to, even with the default administrator account. The last thing I remember doing before this happened is I was playing City of Heroes when it crashed forcing me to restart my computer. This happens occasionally in certain programs but I've never had anything like this happen before. I tried unplugging my keyboard, mouse, usb devices, ethernet cable, no luck. Intel Pentium 4 1.7 ghz Geforce 5600 FX 256 mb windows xp home service pack 1, in case any of that matters

I've seen another post somewhere and someone else had this problem, but I haven't found a solution. We're using WXP Pro, SP2. After doing a repair install (the other person just had it after using Windows Update), at logon, after entering the correct, AND VALID, password either for a user Or the Administrator, Windows Logon displays the following Logon Message in a box: "!The system cannot log you on due to the following error: "The program issued a command but the command length is incorrect. "Please try again or consult your administrator."
No matter how many times logon is attempted, or with what account, the message continues to be issued. Thus, NO ONE can logon to the GUI. The Recovery Console can be used to logon as Administrator, but no password is requested even though there is one in place. I've searched the MSKB but didn't find any reference. Implementing "Last known good configuration" does not fix the problem.

I’m having problems with my laptop, which started today. Whilst browsing the internet the system locked up, leaving me with no alternative than to hold down the power button until the system turned off. When I turned the computer back on it froze shortly after logging on, before going to a blue screen saying,
‘A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc00000005, 0xEE1A8B3A, 0xF70E97E8, 0x00000000)
Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disk: xx’
I’ve booted Windows several times and the hex addresses all stay the same. I’m thinking it might be useful to upload the memory dumps, but don’t know how to do this. I have made several small attempts to repair the system. Firstly I started the computer in safe mode and scanned the hard drive using AVG Free, which (surprisingly) found several Trojans and other viruses. This made no difference when starting the computer, so I pressed F8 again when Windows was starting and chose ‘Last Known Good Configuration’ which again made no difference. Finally I started the computer in ‘Safe mode with Command Prompt’ and ran ‘chkdsk’ which found no errors...........

I need a way to get my PC to turn on after 5 minutes if it's turned off accidentally. I have an FTP server running, and everything works once it's turned on ie it's configured to work upon startup, but the problem is, it's in my office, and people keep turning it off. How annoying. How can I get it to turn back on if anyone turns it off.

I have this strange problem after I re-installed Windows XP Inernet Explorer 6 is my default browser. Suddenly when I launch it nothing happens. No page opens, the IE logo on the top right corner of the page doesn't move but IE doesn't hang up, if I close it, it closes normally. Also, when I click on System Restore a window opens up with nothing on it - it is completely white and blank. On the top left corner (where the system restore logo is shown) I see a logo of Windows XP's 'Unknown Application'.

New (3 months) Dell Vostro 1000 with Windows XP Professional. Last few days when trying to shut down I'm getting an error message "Device 10 Notification" with the option to cancel or end task. Either choice leads me to the same issue that the program is not responding. Sometimes the computer goes ahead and shuts down anyway, other times I have to shut down without ending the program.

About 3 days ago, I was on my computer and then it just automatically shut off, then went to a blue screen. I don't quite remember what the blue screen said, but it mention something about disabling BIOS and disableing/removing any new software I had downloaded. I didn't download ANY new software, and I dont really know much about computers, therefore don't know what to do about the BIOs. It also did mention something about disabling caching as well. I thought this was a one time thing, so I booted up my computer again, and it happened at 14 minutes later, and then again and again. I tried doing a last known good configuration while booting up the computer, but than a bigger problem started. My mouse stopped working. It's a wireless Microsoft mouse, and I used the other one that I had, and that didn't work either. It seemed that the adapter didn't want to connect with the mouse, therefore just sat there with the light blinking.
