Each morning when my comp is switched on it asks me to press F1 to continue. When internet explorer opens, the calender has gone back to December 2001.It won't let me do anything till.I we have put the current date, month year and time. Once this is done it works fine.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running XP Pro on a laptop loaded with programs and files.When I recently started it up, instead of loading with the familiar Compaq logo, it started in a DOS program (Phoenix BIOS) with a warning
that "it had not been shut down correctly last time." I think I did shut it down correctly last time. The BIOS offered me two options. 1) Hit F1 to Boot or 2) Hit F10 to continue. I hit F10. That took me to a screen where I had to guess what to choose. Did I want to Save and Exit? Did I want to Escape and abandon changes? etc. I didn't know what to do but it seems I had not made any changes so I said "abandon changes and boot
I am running XP Home. Once I delete the internet history from the internet options, close IE, re-open IE and the history I just deleted comes back to life? Scanned my system using Norton System Works and Internet Security. Supposedly no virus or spyware or such.

I use a developer program to make executables (hobby of mine saves me going troppo) called Clarion, it works OK, I made a DOSable program with it, it works OK.
Once I could open to full size DOS screen by pressing the Alt+Enter keys and it would stay open until I was finished with it, then I could revert back to a small screen by pressing Alt+Enter keys again.
Now if I press Alt+Enter keys the DOS screen appears, but it stays open in full screen for a couple of seconds then automatically closes back to the usual small screen.
I have tried right clicking on the icon, properties, screen and putting a dot in the full size option, but this does not work.
I have scanned my PC for viruses etc but no joy there.
I have Dialup only, so don't ask me to do a Panda or Trend scan as they drop you if you no got broadband.
I'm using XP pro, 512meg ram, using a Gigabyte MB, and Nivida video card.
XP working OK-dokie, sound ok-dokie, video ok-dokie, screen to DOS wonkie.
how to fix this?
My XP's ie explorer couldn't start, it prompted error and I managed to got the log.

In all programs, I right clicked on IE to pin to start menu. Now there is an icon there, but I get all the options if you were to right click on IE on your desktop.My work has changed to a new program. Wave to make adjustments to trusted sites and internet properties. Their instructions are to right click on the start menu internet explorer, which gives the options of "browse the internet, internet properties, and remove from this list
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was on Firefox, which didn't have flash, so i decided to switch to Internet explorer, when i opened the program, my screen froze and i could not click on anything, it began to flash randomly, I couldn't do anything so i shut down the computer by the power button. I restarted the computer everything still working, and went back into Internet explorer 8 to see if it was still doing it. Yet again it happened and I powered down. When i started it again, the bios screen had small faint lines going though it in some places it continued to boot and got to a blue screen, and then nothing happens.

I also lost these 2 entries from the quick launch bar on the left, beside the START button. Obviously IE is still on the system because I'm here.
Some days before I installed Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 for Windows XP-SP2. But I didnt feel secure with the changes and decided to uninstall it. But a problem comes. When I want to close the P C, I do as always: Click Start, Close, Shut Down. But, the P C instead of closing restarts. My Windows XP-SP2 is installed on Portuguese.

But after 2 seconds or pressing F11 or any key, another line appears saying the same thing "Press F11 to start recovery". Can't get past this point and start Windows. I have set Windows to set a restore point once a week, Restore my computer to an earlier time. Next screen "Select a restore point" does not display a calendar as it should. It displays a box reading "There are no restore points created for this day. To restore immediately, pick another day and restore point andtry again." But I do not see any previous restore points, no calendar.

Even in messenger when I click on mail it opens firefox instead of explorer. And so msn takes me to a different page then what it usually does and pisses me off. Also like when I want to do windows update it opens up in firefox so it does not work. I like firefox and use it for almost everything but there is just some thing explorer can do that firefox can't, ie: like update windows. So how do I get it to work like it is suppose to?
