2000 Security - Transfer Zipped File Yahoo / Msn Messenger
Sep 2, 2005
I have a friends computer.... it has some spyware... bloodhound i think.. anyway im trying to put adaware6 on it to scan the spyware and i usually transfer it by zipped file in yahoo or msn messenger...well it wont work.. when i transfer the file its not a zipped folder so.. i thought i would try downloading something off the net everytime i try i get a message that says security will not allow me to download from this file well... i need to know what settings to change so that i can and a good safe spyware would be nice too... this thing is getting errors constantly and the desktop background has changed too i am planning on putting norton2005 on it too but that doesnt get rid of spyware does it?
I have created a folder in February 2009. Inside I have a Compressed (zipped) Folder containing 4 files that can only be opened with a password. Never had any problems until today: When I click on the zipped folder I get the following message: this page has an unspecified potential security risk. Would you like to continue? Of course I click yes and it will open without any problems at all. I also scanned with MacAfee anti virus and it is ok. If I move the all folder with copy/paste to drive D and the problem its gone.
Do you have any ideas?? Maybe happen to you too Yesterday I did tried to move the all DOCUMENTS (from the desktop) to drive D by using the Microsoft facility: right click on the folder-movebut at the end only My Pictures and My Music went on drive D and when I looked on the documents on C was nothing there. At this point I sent everything back (always with Microsoft facility) to the original location and since then I encountered the mentioned problem but all documents are back. And I was told this is so easy to do.
I really liked but can't seem to find the same for Firefox which is what I mostly use. In IE, under explorer bars, you have the option of yahoo messenger. So, it slaps your messenger window as the lefthand side like a bookmark or history eplorer bar. Problem is this: I can't find the same thing for Firefox.
I've been facing a lot of problems, a) my yahoo messenger is not working properly, (i cannot see the text messages send and received, the other person can)..the chat window is empty...even though i can make and receive pc-pc calls. b) my windows media player doesnt open. no error is shown but it simply doesnt open... when ever i try to watch something online, which uses media player buffering, it shows "cannot create direct show player"... another error that pops up is "fail to load control from wmp.dll" c) Limewire used to work fine and suddenly it stopped working. d) my internet explorer doesnt display the "download" buttons on websites. shows some javascript void error something in the status bar below. I tried formatting my system and re-installed everything, it was working fine for few days and then again it went back to the previous state. I have installed Norton 360, and Avast nothing detects any virus...i've installed the latest ver of java..I am using a lenovo laptop with WinXP SP2 (2002 Ver), Intel Centrino duo 1.7 ghz, 1gb ram. Please help me guys, my comp is really really annoying!
I'm sure if you've used Yahoo! Messenger you've noticed the adverts built in to the chat and webcam services. Here's a simple fix and it works great. Simply download http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/noads.exe & http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/noads.jpg and save them to a directory. Run the noads.exe file and then start up Yahoo! Don't delete the files after you save them or it'll stop working. Don't worry about the .exe extension, it just points Yahoo to that tiny noads.jpg and replaces the ads with it.
Everytime i try to install yahoo messenger there is a "Windows Installer" error msg... It says Incorrect command line parameters.Windows installer. V 2.00.2600.110 Portions of this software are based in part on the work of the independent jpeg group.
I am the administrator of the computer but I have child logons for my kids. I want Yahoo messenger to open at startup for me but not for them. How do I get it to stop starting up when they logon byt keep starting up when I logon YM doesn't appear to have this as a preference.
I am wondering if there is a way in windows nt to hide the systray icons. Or hide the Yahoo Messenger systray icon. I would donate if someone provided the resolution for my question.
I can't remember what I done a few years ago when I had an issue with XP and Yahoo Mess. When Yahoo Messenger is started it goes to a java download. But when it is installed it doesnt work. My friend is having the same problem I had. This is now on a Dell computer with Macafee and xp of course.
I have purchased a new hp computer running WIN VISTA and bought an easy transfer cable USB port connection, but when i go to transfer from my old computer which is running WIN XP, to my new computer before i can select anything a window pops up saying migration fAILED.
I was wondering how to transfer the files on my full C drive to my D drive that doesn't have hardly anything on it. Is there an easy way to do this that i can understand?
I am having trouble with my computer rebooting while trying to copy large files 700 MB from a CD to the hard drive.I had this problem about 6 months ago when I was copying files from my Tivo to my PC.I am trying to copy to the same hard drive now that was giving me trouble then. There is a different amount of free space now while experiencing the problem than there was when I had the problem 6 months ago. The hard drive is a secondary hard drive used for data storage.
I need to trnsfer the files from an older computer to a new one. Both systems are XP. The old system has no CD burner. I'm not interested in transferring the hard drive into the new computer. What's my best alternative?
Without uninstalling and reinstalling, how can I transfer one large file, 5GB to a partition other than C: I have a all my programs in a single file on my C: drive. I would like to move the entire file to a new partition, registry entries should of course also be modified.
I am trying to install driver for blackberry storm. I installed the driver but Wizard installer wouldn't find it, even when I identified specific location. I did workaround on device manager by pointing to the device (USB controller) then browsing to the driver's location and when it recognized it I hit the "next" button for the install, the file transfer hangs.
My old PC which was running XP died but I copied files to my external hard drive. They are now sitting on there as a dat file and I want to import and use these dat files in VISTA.
Is there any way to create a zipped folder from the command line? "Compact" doesn't really do what I want (just uses drivespace or something to compress the folder). What I'm trying to do is make a simple batch file that creates a folder, throws a bunch of files with the same extenstion into it, and then zips it up- but without a command line version of the built-in windows zip program this will be impossible (through batch file anyway).
I have a computer that has been running XP pro for a long time. I would like to join it to a domain, but have found out by experience that my "domain user" and my "workgroup user" are two completely different people. Can I use the file and settings transfer wizard to transfer my "workgroup user" settings to my "domain user" settings and then delete my "workgroup user?" Are there any security concerns (e.g. run as administrator) that I need to be aware of
Trouble watching video from one of my hard drives (XP). At first I thought it was a codec problem so I uninstalled and reinstalled the codecs but that never worked. Then I tried watching video on the other hard drive and no problem there.
I confirmed that its a hard drive problem when I tried to copy one of the files from the problematic hard drive, it showed 30mins left where it normally takes 1-2mins.
I checked to see if the channel was in PIO mode but all are in DMA.
I am running Windows XP on a HP Pavilion ze2000.I think I have a problem with Windows Live Messenger. Actually, I think I have several problems: 1. Messenger tries to load in my tray when I start the computer. It never did this before. It also does the same when I connect to my broadband via dialler. At the moment I am denying access through Zone Alarm. Is this normal? 2. In All Programmes I have a Windows Messenger Icon and a Windows Live Messenger Icon. Again, is this normal? There is only an option to remove Live Messenger in Add or Remove Programmes. 3. There is a "1 contact pending" message above the contact list in my Live Messenger, which leads to a "page not available" message when I click on it. 3. When I close Live Messenger, I get multiple "RPC Server Not Available" warnings which I keep closing but keep reappearing. They appear too fast for me to close them, so I have to restart my machine.
I bought a new laptop with Windows XP in it, I wanted to transfer some files from my Desktop PC which has Vista to my laptop with XP, I bought a Belkin USB Data Transfer Cable to transfer files with help of Windows Easy Transfer but when I installed the software provided with it, it seemed that I can only transfer files from XP to Vista.
Recently I reinstalled XP Home Edition and XP Pro using a slipstreamed installation disk contain SP2 and the latest hotfixes. Following those installations I found that I could not easily access any Drive Image (pqi) files that were created under the newly installed operating systems. The images could be restored but only after booting from the Drive Image rescue floppies. I also was not able to open and explore any of those images using Drive Image ImageExplorer. Images created prior to these installation could be opened and restored within windows with Drive Image. To access the images created under the new OS installation I had start the Home Edition in the safe mode and the go the image file, right click and select security. Then I had to add my user name under services and then check full control. In the XP Pro system I had to disable simple file protection and then change the security settings in a similar manner. This all had to be done even though the user has full administrator rights. I've been using Drive Image 2002 for the last 2 years for backups on both Home Edition and Pro versions of XP so this behavior is something I believe is new an possible a result of security updates included in the new installations. I really need access to these images from within windows but I also need to retain simple files sharing on my XP Pro machine.
I have recently installed this OS on the PC I'm using right now, it used to have Win ME, which is probably by far the worst Windows that has ever existed. The PC runs way better than it used to overall, but I do have one big **** of a problem: I recieve an error message that says "can't find the specified file" when I try to install a program. Programs I've tried to install:
Adobe Reader Winzip W2KSP4 (service pak 4) Windows installer 3.1 And a few more.
Basically anything that has to be extracted or self-extracts. Could this be a problem with the temporary folder, or not enough RAM? (128 MB) Also: I have saved all this programs on the hard drive, I'm not running them from a network, the internet, or any other drive. Keep in mind that I can't install winzip or winrar so I can't use them to fix any problems. I've scanned the hard drive for errors (complete surface scan), ran virus and spyware checks... I have Spyware Doctor and AVG Free antivirus installed on my PC, I don't know if either could be interfering with my PC's performance.
This has started this week, every time I start up a window pops up. It has Open File-Security Warning on top The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software? Name: SysUpdate.exe
We are running VIP payroll and the program exe sits on a server and is run through a mapped drive. On one XP PC we get a warning message asking if we want to run the application or cancel. We do I tell XP that it's ok to run this app?
