running Windows XP home edition and every time she goes to press the internet explorer icon on her desktop it will load the home page ok then when you try to surk the net she gets the message that microsoft has encounted aan error and then it asks if you want to send the report or not. If you click either send or dot not send report it boots you off the net and goes back to the desktop. Also she cannot even do internet banking, because every time you try to you get the same message. We think she may have gotten a virus, but we don't know because norton doesn't find anything wrong.

While I have found many solutions to this problem, these solutions don't work for the 64bit platform. All of my programfiles/microsoftoutlook/.... files have been corrupted, so i need to completely reinstall outlook, what i have tried so far is this:1)remove the isInstalled from the registry and reinstall windows explorer Result:I can't find a version of Windows Explorer I can install on my computer because the installs always say that you cant install on a 64 bit platform 2 booted off xp cd, did repair Result: didnt help My Network Places now also doesnt work, but I believe thats because they share a common DLL in programfiles/microsoftoutlook/If i new someone else that was running XP64 I would manually get the files off them but I dont,

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2.I've downloaded all the necessary patches for the daylight savings time fix and my clock is ahead one hour than it should. The checkbox to automatically adjust clock is checked and I've tried going back and forth on different time zones to get the it right; but it will not work. Also using Outlook 2007, but only for some minor email usage. Was told that Outlook 07 did not need a patch, only needed one if you did stuff with the calendar.
I am attempting to save an OUTLOOK.pst file that is located on My wifes laptop. An odd problem is occurring,,,If I do a search for outlook.pst, the search finds it and Shows that it resides at C:Documents and SettingsGalLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook When I attempt to follow the path using Windows Explorer I go to the C: drive, Navigate to Documents and Settings, then Gal, then no local settings folder is shown. I have made sure that in the search, all hidden folders are shown, but there is no local settings folder, so I cannot continue on to the Application Data Microsoft Outlook.pst location.

I am unable to open any hyperlink or any website that is contained in my microsoft outlook email.I get the following error messages. "Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what program created it" It gives me two choices: 1. use the web to find the program that created it or 2. select from a list. None of these options work. For some reason, an Microsoft Outlook icon has appeared on my Desktop.I don't want it there because I don't use it. (I use Outlook Express 6.0). But I hesitate to delete it as it doesn't appear to be a shortcut, but the program itself. How can I move this to where it belongs, i.e. somewhere in Program Files?
i remote into my XP box everything is fine except when i shut down using a shutdown shortcut and other shutdown utilities no matter what after i get booted off the remote session the computer looks like its shutting down then stays on for a few seconds then a BSOD appear. I have been trying to figure out why for the past week and no solution so im hoping someone can chime in..The problem is only on remote if i shut down locally never a single BSOD and no hardware has changed. No driver issues. ive read and tried all the usual solutions. Need someone here to chime in on specifics.Ive also tried to remote in with bare minimum and no go. same thing.
This is weird. I have to go through the shutdown procedure twice, i.e., Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok, then Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok again. It will then shutdown properly. The same thing happens when I try to "Restart." After doing the first shutdown sequence, everything is normal. I can open programs, surf the web, etc. It's as if I never tried to shut it down at all. Only after the second shutdown procedure will it shutdown fully. One note: When I go through the first shutdown sequence, my taskbar pops up and the desktop is darkened. After clicking Ok, the taskbar autohides and my desktop returns to its normal color.I have only had this problem for the last month or two. Before that, all was fine. It's not critical since I can shut it down. It's just annoying to have to do it twice.I have Windows 2000 Pro, SP4, build 5.00.2195.
When attempting to "shutdown" or "reboot", I have to do it twice. When I select "Start" then either shutdown or reboot, my desktop will flicker a couple of times, and then nothing appears to happen. I must select "start" again and then either shutdown or reboot and then they will work as expected.

i have windows XP home edition service pack 3. and i use Microsoft office 2003, and well recently it began to pop up and say microsoft office word has not been installed for current user. please run setup utility. Well i only have one user, never had another user created until recently (temporary fix) is there anything i can do, the main user is called the owner, it says its the computer admin, but i guess there is still an admin user, i cant get to that. the only way i can get ms office to work was to create a new user, open all the office programs, export the office registry, and import it to my main user, thats the only thing that works, for a little bit.
Quote :NEW YORK (Reuters) -- A U.S. federal jury found that Microsoft Corp. infringed audio patents held by Alcatel-Lucent and should pay $1.52 billion in damages, the No. 1 software maker said Thursday.
Microsoft said it plans to first ask the trial judge to knock down the ruling and will appeal if necessary. It said the verdict is unsupported by the law and that it had already licensed the technology in question from Germany's Fraunhofer.
Alcatel-Lucent had accused the world's biggest software maker of infringing patents related to standards used for playing MP3 digital music files.
I recently have begun having problems with my Outlook PST file. This has never occurred before over the many years I have been using the same Outlook file and I believe the problems started happening right around the same time that I put in iTunes onto my PC and started to allow iTunes to sync my Outlook contacts with my iPhone.
My Outlook file still more or less functions normally, but each time I open Outlook I get an error message telling me that the Outlook file was not closed properly the last time it was used and it much be checked for errors. It then does the check, which often it takes 20 minutes while running the check in the background, and each time it finds no errors.
If a message comes up evey few minuets or more saying that internet explorer encountered a problem and needs to shut down, is That really an internet explorer problem, or is it my computer??
I am running windows 2000. When I run cmd, I get "The NTVDM has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0548 ip:ffe2 OP. Choose close to terminate the application". It may have something to do with the fact that the machine bacame seriously infected some months ago and some system 32 files were deleted in the clean up.
I had an infection with AntivirusTrigger that completely took over my pc. I got rid of it using MBAM. Now that everything is suppose to be back to normal I have the following problem. I keep getting a window that pops up saying that windows explorer encountered a problem and needs to close. When I press on the don't send button everything except my wallpaper dissapears for a few seconds and then all the icons are back on the desktop. Only a few seconds later the same window pops up and the rocedure repeats itself.I did the following trying to resolve the issue. 1) I loaded Internet explorer 7 - same result 2) I did a systemfile check - same result 3) I did a repair install of windows - same result.
I have been getting this message for a month or so and since it hasn't seemed to cause any problem other than annoyance, I have just started to look into it. Unfortunately, I haven't found much information on t.exe and I cannot remember doing anything (like adding a new program or deleting a program) that would have interfered with the operating system.I have an HP laptop that runs Windows XP Home
