I don't use Microsoft Outlook and would like to delete the icon from my XP desktop but when I click delete I get the following message: Confirm Delete--Are you sure you want to delete the Microsoft Outlook icon from your desktop? The Outlook Desktop icon provides special functionality and we recomment that you do not remove it.

I cannot get my printer or scanner to mail from those sites. i have a pd hotmail acct and also gmail and windstream acct. i use incredimail too. I went into tools and selected my incredimail acct for emails but for some reason they are going to the outlook programs and will not mail from there. i tried to set up new email accts from both but they will not mail.. View 5 Replies View RelatedI finally need to update to Vista. My PC still works well, it's just been having some problems lately. Anyway, The reason for this thread is because something bizarre happened. I had just sent 2 or 3 files to the Recycle Bin. Then I right-clicked it and hit "Empty Recycle Bin". It deleted the files; that's all well and fine. Then I noticed, that after I deleted them, the icon had paper in the bin like there were files in it. So I opened it and saw nothing. I closed that and saw the icon still said there were files in it. So I right-clicked, hit "Empty Recycle Bin", then saw the same old "Are you sure you want to delete (insert file)?" message. Instinctively, I hit "Yes" and started reading what file it was while clicking it. BAM. The file was I thought for sure my PC was screwed for good. But I checked in "HP_PAVILION C" and it was still there, I looked again at the "Recycle Bin" and everything was fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I downloaded the updated drivers for my hp scanner software, an icon appeared on my desktop and if I right click it to delete it my computer freezes. If I drag it to the recycle bin or any other folder it just duplicates it and it is still on the desktop. I can't find anywhere else where I could delete it from the registry for example or add/delete programs list. I can't rename it , to try to delete it, because of the freezing issue. I use Windows XP and Office 2003.
I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2.I've downloaded all the necessary patches for the daylight savings time fix and my clock is ahead one hour than it should. The checkbox to automatically adjust clock is checked and I've tried going back and forth on different time zones to get the it right; but it will not work. Also using Outlook 2007, but only for some minor email usage. Was told that Outlook 07 did not need a patch, only needed one if you did stuff with the calendar.

I have made sure that in the search, all hidden folders are shown, but there is no local settings folder, so I cannot continue on to the Application Data Microsoft Outlook.pst location.

having trouble getting into her emails to read them, every time she tries to open microsoft outlook express she gets the message 'windows outlook express MSOE.DLL could not be loaded'
I am unable to open any hyperlink or any website that is contained in my microsoft outlook email.I get the following error messages.
"Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what program created it"
It gives me two choices: 1. use the web to find the program that created it or 2. select from a list. None of these options work. I hope that someone can help solve this problem as I am now unable to open any link or web contained in the email.

I have had them even come and go after different sessions. I log on to Internet both through work firewall and at home on network through firewall and in motels through open and firewall protected isps.
I just downloaded IE7 to my Dell XPS400. Everything appears to have gone well thus far with one exception. I have either lost or can't identify the Outlook Express Icon on the new toolbar.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Presario C700 model C768TU Notebook PC running Vista Home Premium, with a 1.76GHz CPU and 2 GB RAM.
The problem I have is actually driving me nuts.I freshly installed Vista after formatting the drive and when I point to the only desktop icon which is the recycle bin I get this dialog asking if I want to send it to the recycle bin.No matter how many times I click on NO it won't go away and in my frustration I reboot the Laptop. have formatted the laptop several times and installed WIndows 7 and had the same problem. I also formatted and partitioned the drive and still had the same problem.I added a few more icons to the desktop and the same thing would happen if I pointed the mouse at them.
Whenever I open explorer (not IE) and attempt to delete files I get a box saying: Runtime Error! Program: C:WINDOWSexplorer.exe abnormal program termination (OK). If I click the explorer window the dialogue box disappears behind the explorer window and I can continue deleting files etc. However when I finally click the (OK) in the error box, All the Icons on my desktop disappear for about 15 seconds and then reappear as if nothing is wrong. But sometimes the icons do not reappear and then I have to use the Ctl-Alt-Del method to restart the computer. What is happening and how can I fix it without reinstalling windows XP SP2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy system runs XP Prof (with SP1, but NOT, SP2 updates) and I have IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.020828 installed. when I click on any desktop shortcut, or even Outlook email underlined links, instead of opening an internet web page, XP gives me an error message saying "It can't find such-and-such url. Then a blank IE page opens up with no address in the address box.I have tried to repair XP by running the command: sfc/scannow, which in turn asks for the XP Prof install CD to locate any missing files, etc. Then I also tried re-installing IESP1 in hopes of fixing the problem that way. Neither of these efforts has remedied the problem.
