View 1 Replies View Relatedi was recently trying to install Microsoft visual studio on my windows 8.1 laptop (dell latitude d620) and for the life of me, i couldn't get it to work. first, i tried to install visual studio c++ express 2010, and it crashed every time i tried to open it (after installing). then, i tried 2012, because i thought it was a prob with OS compatibility. this time, i couldn't even install it before i got an error message saying there was a problem and it closed. after trying to get it to work for some time, i tried the 2013 version. this time, i got farther than i did with 2012, but not as far as 2010 (i didn't install). i would really like for this to work because i just bought a course on Udemy for $10, and i don't want to waste the money. however, if i cant get it to work, i suppose i could put it on my windows 7 desktop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't install MVS on my Windows 8.1 due to missing core libraries. I've tried 2010, 2012 and 2013 versions and same error occurs anyway. I have a valid license.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I am nearing the limits of my C drive, I have been purging applications and moving them to a secondary D drive. One of the uninstalled apps, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Pro, opened up space on my drive, but also left about 29 uninstalled programs (and I assume, many unnecessary folders). According to a couple of Google searches, uninstalling these programs, even if done in the correct order, could cause some problems down the line. However, I do want to install this program on my D drive. Would installing visual studio on my d drive cause any problems (as there are 29 programs related to visual studio on the C drive)? I am running windows 8.1 on a Gigabyte p34g.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI made a small Emgu apllication in Visual C# Express 2010. It can works fine in Win XP PC's. But doesn't run on Windows 8. I compiled the progam in .net framework 3.5 and in 4.0 and modifiy the Myexecutable.exe.config adding <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>.
But program doesn't start, just show a message that the program doesn't work. I tried it in Windows XP compatibility mode but nothing.
I need to gain access to registry stored on dead Windows 8.1 partition (as mounted system volume backup). That means it's not directly bootable, I can only access it's file structure from outside. Now I'm curious if there's a software or procedure that can locate and load registry from it and display it in some exportable format like REGEDIT4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having sign in problems with the Windows 8 Games, Music, and Video Apps. This have been happening ever since I started using Windows 8. I have tried reinstalling Windows many time, and also tried it on Windows 8.1, none of them allowed me to sign in.

Games App - Nothing happens when I click Try Again on the top right corner.
Music and Video App - This message shows when I click Can't Sign In Try Again.
I run a program that requires the setting "Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts" to be un-checked in Win7 and XP. Using Win7, that selection is under Control Panel/System Security/System/Advanced System Settings/Performance Settings/Visual Effects. How do I access that setting in Windows 8?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio XPS, I have just installed an SSD for the boot / system drive and am using Windows 8.
I wanted to make an copy of the SSD for backup. I have tried a number of program which boot from CD or USB but they all start to load and then stop. The software tried is "Mini Tool Partition Wizard", "Driveimage XLM", and others.
I know the CD boot system works ok as that is how I installed Windows 8 to the SSD and the above software all starts to load and then locks up.
Using Express Studio screen record? every time I try and capture FULL screen it crashes on me!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio XPS 9000 running Windows 7 home premium 64bit and a USB 3 card installed. I want to upgrade it to Windows 8.1. I also have an HP laptop Envy dv6 running Windows 8.1 USB 3 compatible. I also have an Intel SSD 335 Series 240 GB, on which I want the upgrade to be installed, and a USB 3 NexStar caddy.
I imagine the most elegant approach would be to load Windows 8.1 on the SSD via the caddy connected to the HP laptop which is connected to the Internet, and then install the SSD into the Dell Studio XPS 9000.
I see the write-up on how to make a password reset disk on a USB flash memory stick. But is there a way to make a password reset disk on a CD?
WHAT I DID:
1. Inserted a blank CD in the optical drive.
2. Opened control panel and clicked "User Accounts". But in the left panel there is no option "Create a password reset disk". All I see are:
Control Panel HomeManage your credentialsManage your file encryption certificatesConfigure advanced user profile propertiesChange my environment variables.
Do I HAVE TO insert a USB stick to see the password reset option? (I don't have a spare USB stick to test with)
Running Win 8.0 on a Dell Studio 1537 laptop.
I recently updated my Studio 1458 Notebook from 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro. It is a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5-520M, 8 GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066 MHz RAM, 512 MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 Video Card, 500 GB SATA @7200 RPM HDD.
Since upgrading, I have had no control over the Sleep function. I have changed all settings I can find on CONTROL PANEL<POWER OPTIONS, and still the system goes to "Sleep Mode" if I do not touch it for a few minutes. It even went to Sleep DURING the Windows 8 installation, which made it take longer than expected.
Upgrading from Windows 8 ProWMC on a Dell Studio 1535 laptop. It ran for a couple of hours and was in the 'a few more things' stage when it decided to fail and roll everything back.
Now that it's back where I started, where do I start looking to try to find out what happened? I'm hoping it put some log files somewhere.
My first guess is that it's third-party drivers, will start by looking at those. There are several things which are old but still were working with Windows 8; I suppose one or more of these might not be compatible?
I have the Dell Studio 1458 and i have Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64, When I try to install the video card which is: ATI Readeon Mobility HD 5400. I got Errors that say "there was an error when trying to install driver" (on devmgmt.msc).
Where can i find the correct drivers this version?
Here is my XML file with the results:
I have just bought a diskless XPS1645 and have clean-installed Win8.1. All is well, apart from...
1. Device Manager shows two Base System Devices that remain 'undriven' - what the items may be and what drivers are required?
2. The volume and DVD eject buttons don't. (The Wireless button definitely does.)
I have this error pop up on start-up and don't know why this happens

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust bought an Acer S3 i3. Set up has taken me over 6 hours. 1st - major problems getting internet access - but having removed McAfee all seems ok.
I have two major problems:
1. Cursor will freeze ever few minutes causing the machine to hang. Only solution is to hold down power and restart.
2. Tried installing office 2010. Have downloaded set up file and inserted product key. Once installation completes and I try to launch a program I get an error message - c:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeOffice14wwlib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x000012f.
this is the hotfix for Office 2010 when you install sp2 and see in event viewer over and over Outlook 2010 calendar Folder is empty
It is a zip file which you will have to unzip
It puts it into C:/
Find the file that says (if it is the 32 bit one) Outlook 2010-Kb2849973-fullfile-x86-gill.exe
You need to run it as an administrator or it will come up and fail
I have installed it and so far I am not getting the hundreds of error msgs
this is where you get it, you will pick either the 32bit or 64bit edition depending on which one you installed.
I have Office Pro 2010 on my 32bit XP Pro desktop. If possible, I'd like to uninstall Offc Pro and install it on my laptop that is running Win 8.1. Can this be done?
My Office Pro is a valid download with key but I only downloaded the 32 bit version and have changed the key one time as the result of a support call to MS soon after installing it on my XP machine.
I have a HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2010 Starter. There is a known issue that when you attempt to run the Windows 8 upgrade Assistant, it displays Office 2010 Starter as "Not Compatible". In order to correct this, you need to install an update (KB2553141). The problem is that even with the update installed, the upgrade assistant still points the Office 2010 as not compatible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to record a macro in Office 2010 on my machine with Windows 8.1. I had my PERSONAL.XLSB file open at the time. I closed that file and when I when to record the macro to it the file was no longer listed. I tried to create a new file but I got an error message "Can not find the Start folder" and that was that. Where is the heck is the start folder. I believe it does not exist and 8.1 has issues with Office 2010. I had not luck with an An Access, so I though I'd try here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just reinstalled World 2010, and now I seem to have some dark boarder around my page.
I don't think it used to be there back in the day? What it is and how to get rid of it?
Background: I have been using windows since 3.11 when I was in second grade and we got rid of our DOS box. I consider myself a proficient user to highly proficient user, having built 4 of my own machines. I have installed Office 2010 Professional and the program works.
Setup: Lenovo ideapad y500 purchased January 2013 with Windows 8
Problem: Windows will not allow me to set Word 2010 as my default program for opening .docx or other valid formats. I can open the documents from within the program, just not by default.
Steps Taken:
1) Right-click file > choose default program > Word 2010 not available > browse for and specify location > set program to default. Result = System Message "This app can't run on your pc."
2) Consulted Microsoft support site to search for solution. Same result.
Desired Resolution: how to set that default application. All of you who read this are also annoyed with Microsoft's awful customer service.
I'm on Windows 8.1 and have Microsoft Office 2007. I'm getting an update for Microsoft Office 2010 in Windows Update even though I haven't got this.

Using the Onenote Metro App (also installed locally) it works.
Can it be fixed? I much prefer the complete MS Onenote 2010 than the Metro App.
