Possible to enable/disable (turn on/turn off) Airplane Mode either using CMD or with two separated shortcuts (i.e. desktop shortcut 1 enables Airplane Mode, desktop shortcut 2 disables Airplane Mode)?

I tried the "HOW TO TURN AIRPLANE MODE ON OR OFF in Windows 8 and 8.1"
My os is 8.1. The box would still not change.
I am writing a script to change my computer settings when I go to work and change them back when I get home.
I would like to know how to script turning on/off Airplane Mode. If that's not possible, how do I script turning on/off wireless and Bluetooth?

I have just upgraded my laptop(Toshiba Satellite P875). From Windows 8 to 8.1 and now the airplane mode button does not switch the mode on and off??? I can go inside the settings and do it. But the button on the keyboard panel does nothing?

The reason I'd like to have this option, is that I use Reaper as a DAW, and its well known that disabling all your wireless is a good way to increase performance.
I've gone into Device Manager and simply disabled the wireless driver...but that's not very convenient.

I am using a dell latitude e6430 laptop and just recently i encountered this problem- The airplane mode of my computer refuses to be turned off.
I tried going to the pc settings > networks but the selection is grayed out and stays at [on]. This results in my computer not being able to connect to the internet.
I have also tried doing a system restore to the date when it was working perfectly fine, but the airplane mode is still grayed out.
The only way i could access my internet on this computer is to tether my mobile phone and connect it to the wifi via USB tethering.
Is there any way to force off the airplane mode(In command prompt etc) or Remove the option?
The computer turn off the wireless connections and defaults into airplane mode. I had this problem with Windows 8. The option to easily toggle airplane mode on and off become grayed out unchangeable. The only way I found to temporarily fix the problem was to rightclick the airplane icon and then troubleshoot the wireless connections which would then turn wireless back on. I had the option to upgrade to 8.1 and I did and it fixed the problem for a while. It did happen again which is why I'm back on the web searching for possible more permanent solution for this. Luckily it only happened once a week ago and hasn't happened again. I was wondering if this bug was known about and if you possibly know of a way to fix.

I have reliable connections to my DSL modem and to the internet. I would like to enable/disable my network interface, in this case the ethernet connection to my DSL modem, (not the DSL modem connection to the phone line).
After cruising through the Control Panel/Network and Sharing/Change Adapter Settings/ menus, I made a desktop shortcut to my Ethernet device. Right clicking on the shortcut shows a context menu with "Disable". This option works fine and cancels the connection to the modem. After that, the shortcut context menu remains the same: no option for "Enable" is shown.
However, if I follow "Open file location" to the control panel's Network screen, the context menu for the target icon DOES contain "enable". More strange: after clicking on main Network context menu, now the desktop shortcut displays "Enable". Sometimes nothing "enables" until I run the "Diagnose" option several times with administrative priv. (I am the administrator).

Suddenly after trying to check for Windows Updates my computer said it is unable to check due to an error. Tried to correct error without success. Then the computer began to go to airplane mode; I kept turning on wireless connection. Finally it went into airplane mode and prevented me from turning the wireless connection back on.
I checked and found a message the ethernet cables were unplugged. I checked my network connection and it is fine. My tablet and printer are connected wirelessly and work ok. I reset the computer to factory default settings. I tried many Microsoft's solutions from their forum and nothing works. Strange behavior on my Win 8.1 desktop with a shortcut to Control PanelNetwork ConnectionsEthernet Network. After a system startup, (as administrator) the shortcut can "Disable" the network connection by right clicking the shortcut and selecting "Disable". Later, when the shortcut is right clicked again, the context menu still says "Disable". I would call this a failure to update the shortcut, but what is actually happening.
In order to get the shortcut to "update" itself, I have only to open the Control PanelNetwork Connections window. Magically, the shortcut will then reflect the true state of the network when right clicking the shortcut on the desktop.
what is necessary to keep the shortcut updated?
I'm having a rather annoying issue on Windows 8 with my ASUS Laptop.
When moving from Wi-Fi to Ethernet (disable Wi-Fi, plug-in Ethernet cable then enable Ethernet port) my computer fails to recognize the Ethernet connection. I have to restart my computer to solve the problem.
Is this intentional or is something going wrong?
Being impossible to get my dial-up shortcut from the desktop onto the taskbar of my new Windows 8 laptop, I followed the tutorial to add Quick Launch toolbar to the taskbar, and successfully moved the shortcut tothere.
With Vista, XP etc, one click on Quick Launch toolbar shortcut icon would open this "Connect TPG" window shown below. You then just clicked <Dial> button to connect directly to the ISP.
(Note: TPG is the name of the ISP)
However, with my Windows 8, three mouse operations all over the screen are required to arrive at this window:
1. You click the Quick Launch shortcut icon and the Charms sidebar opens.
2. Then you have to select the ISP under the Connections header,which causes a <Connect> button to pop up.
3. Which when clicked finally brings you to the above "Connect TPG" window.
how to open this window directly from the Quick Launch toolbar or how to pin a shortcut to the taskbar to achieve the same outcome?
NB, pinning "Network Connections" shortcut to taskbar is not the answer, as you still then required to the go through the same 3 operations mentioned above.

I am in the midst of the final steps in setting my my new Win 8 system.
I have a Win XP and Win 8 computer on my home network. I believe that I have set up file and printer sharing correctly. I can access the files and printer on the XP system from the Win 8 system. However, when I attempt to access the Win 8 files from the Win XP system, I get a long delay (about a minute or two) and then it asks me for the User Name & Password. I enter them and then and it works fine.
If I try to print on the printer attached to the Win 8 system from the XP system, I get a printer error unless I have already signed in with the ID & PW when accessing files. It never asks me for an ID & PW before attempting to print.
On the Win 8 system, I have selected "Turn off password protected sharing" in the "Network and Sharing Center/Advanced Sharing Settings".
The Win XP system has previously been correctly sharing files and printers with another XP system for some time and I haven't changed any settings on the XP computer.
Both the XP and Win 8 systems are assigned the same Workgroup name.
Since a few weeks, I have a problem with my laptop running Windows 8.1 (Toshiba Satellite P50-A-12PBE). Sometimes, after bringing Windows back from sleep mode, I seem to have no connection to the internet. Windows says the connection is 'limited', wether I'm connected with a wire or wireless. Resetting the router doesn't solve anything, but rebooting my pc does. Since both the wired and wireless network are always simultaneously affected, I think this hasn't anything to do with drivers (I already have the latest versions by the way). I have made screenshots with ipconfig-results when I'm connected with a wire.

I enabled it and installed Windows8 in uefi boot Using uefi enabled usb . I read on internet that Laptop manufacturers name appears instead of Windows 8 logo on uefi boot, it does not happen in my case also booting has gotten more slower .. and computer is not as smooth as it was before with old bios , it stuck sometimes now..i also checked my bios by "msinfo32" it shows my bios is UEFI... still its not like the real thing at all ...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the folder "Download master" and "Eltima Software" can be seen via program "flash decompiler" where as under windows explorer it doesn't show it. on rightside you can see I disable all hidden system files, enable show hidden files, I have also tried to type in directory path on the top of window explorer and nothing works, although I'd assume cmd will work and will show under dir but thats not what I want.I have also searched net can't find any information about this Download Master folder and its around 2 MB.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOn all of our Windows 8.1 clients, every time a user tries to add a printer using the 'add a printer' wizard, it triggers alerts from our secure network devices indicating that someone's trying to log in to them with SNMP.
We need the failed logon notifications but it's incredibly annoying to get these all the time.
Any way to disable the SNMP scan when adding printers? Windows 7 didn't do this. Nor did windows 8 base as I recall.
I log on my machine using MS login. That's fine. But I wish to disable the dialog asking to save the password when logging in to web sites. I have LastPass set up with my preferences and have no wish to start over with a new password manager.

I need to perform a reboot to get wifi to work again. Laptop is S10-3t with a Broadcom wifi card. It worked fine in Win7. I have installed official drivers from lenovo's website, but it's same issue.
