Mouse Not Clicking On Desktop Screen
Nov 10, 2013My mouse works fine on the tile screen, but won't click when on the desktop screen. It moves fine and if I move it to the corner I can click on the setting button, but its anything on the desktop,or programs that run from the desktop that are effected.

Nov 17, 2012How can we reset the size of the screen that is presented after clicking on a tile in windows 8? I have two monitors and have my desktop going across both monitors the way I like it. However when you click on a windows 8 tile, the screen it brings up fills both monitors. its annoying because whatever I am viewing is centered down the middle of two monitors and trying to read it is awful. I want to be able to set the window size that appears after clicking a tile to be half a screen (only one monitor). How to accomplish this? I know you can go to desktop mode and it will be sized however I like it, but I need to change the size of the windows after clicking the tile.

Aug 30, 2013IE Metro tile is missing from my metro start screen. It's not in the 'all apps' list either. when I go to program default, it is set as the default browser. I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have the metro version tile on my start.

Windows 8 Metro Screen Freeze
Jan 4, 2013I am having a problem where the Windows 8 Metro screen freezes and the tiles do not update or can not activate them with the mouse. Using the shift key and restart I am able to set the computer to safe mode which will then boot and get to the Metro screen. I then go and uninstall the latest program or app that was installed and it will work fine after rebooting in normal mode. The it will happen again a day or so later.

Jan 16, 2013I have Classic Shell set up on two Window 8 machines, a desktop and an ASUS Q200e laptop. And it is thing of beauty on one machine but less so on the other. The desktop works just fine but on the ASUS I cannot skip the Metro screen. At boot, the Metro shows up for a long, long time before Classic Shell shows up. Yes, I have the 'skip Metro' item checked . On the desktop Classic Shell shows up immediately without showing any trace of Metro. I have compared the settings on both machines one by one and they are identical as far as I can see.
I made a Registry edit to produce a Classic Shell service log and here is the content of that log.

I believe the problem has something to do with one of the ASUS programs that gets loaded at startup. The OS is the one installed and shipped with the computer while the desktop is a clean install from a DVD.
Screen Jumps Between Desktop And Metro Right After Login?
Sep 4, 2013Right out of the blue, windows 8 loaded up painfully slow so i restarted my HP g6 laptop.After restarting the laptop the user login screen appeared fine fine but as soon as i login the metro tile screen flashes to a default coloured desktop screen and back to to the metro screen every second. It is continous and you can't access anything as the screen jumps to the other one before you can even do anything!
My laptop is only a few months old and there has been no hardware change/upgrade.I managed to get into the system restore and restored to a point a few days before this issue started but, when the laptop restarted, the issue remain and the screen jumped between the 2 screens.
There are no error msgs or any can of beeps that appear. There was nothing of any note that happened prior to this issue occurring and the laptop worked fine until this issue.

Now I want this app to run in a window instead of fullscreen. An app like this.. i don't get it.. why leave it full screen when you have to multitask? I'd like to run this in a custom sized window that I can tell to always stay on top of other apps.

Split Screen And View Two Metro Apps At Same Time
Jan 29, 2013Windows 8 allow us to split the screen and see two metro apps at the same time. I miss the windows' windows ( windows without windows is quite stupid for me ), but I like metro. Is there any way to split the screen many times, horizontally and with different ratios? ( not only 80:20 )

Can't Find Show Desktop Tile On Metro Start Screen
Mar 4, 2012I upgraded to the CP a few days ago and just noticed a huge problem. The "Show Desktop" tile that is normally on the start screen be default has gone missing. I can't figure out how I got rid of it in the first place, but is there some way to add it back?
I have changed the title to more accurately reflect the problem. A bunch of the features that come with Windows 8 CP (the tablet friendly Settings page, Remote Desktop, the show desktop tile, The Windows Store, etc) all vanished shortly after I installed Windows 8. I tried reinstalling and the same thing happened again.
Split Screen Doesn't Work In Windows 8.1 Metro Mode?
Jul 27, 2013I was initially very excited to hear that windows 8.1 allowed users to split the screen in any ratio they want (not just 80:20) in metro mode. However, no third-party apps seem to be compatible with this feature. Only Microsoft apps will expand to any ratios other than 80% or 20%. All third party apps will remain in the narrow 20% view even when you try to expand them to, say, take up 50% of the screen.

Apps / Software :: Can't Delete Some Tiles On Blue Metro Start Screen
Feb 13, 2013So, I have been trying to rid my Toshiba Satellite of a ton of bloatware they put on a new laptop running Windows 8. There are also some unnecessary Windows 8 tiles I can't get rid of from the big blue Metro start up screen.
Some, the ones that I guess are "apps" I can right click on, select "unpin" and they're gone, but others I cannot get rid of
Here's how my problem presents:
I select ALL APPS by right clicking on the blue Metro start screen.
Then I right click something like a game "It Girl" or "Polar Bowler" and I see PIN TO START, which I don't want to do, UNINSTALL, which I DO want to do, RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, or OPEN FILE LOCATION. Uninstall just takes me to the control panel's "add/remove programs." Well there are no games there. I uninstalled them from there already. The other options just take me to the desktop
I'd love to be able to delete these tiles (some games, but also a number of Toshiba programs I'm never going to use.) But I've been unable to find the key.

Jan 23, 2013Ive got a bit of annoying problem with one of my Windows 8 computers. For some reason when I right click in the bottom left corner the administration tools don't appear like they do on other computers. Oddly though they do work fine on the same computer using another user account.
I use a roaming profile and I've tried deleting it and allowing it to be reloaded but that hasn't worked.
Edit: just want to add that the administration tools menu works fine on all other windows 8 computers using the same roaming profile.
Clicking Live Tiles Does Nothing Most Of Time
Sep 19, 2012I have to alt tab and then come back and then it works. Did they test this..? It doesn't do it on my laptops though.
1920x1080 is the display res at 120hz
Also the tiles ARE being clicked. They get punched in, but they don't actually do anything.

Suddenly No POST And Clicking Sound
Oct 18, 2013I installed Windows 8.1 earlier and had this (apparently common) watermark error on the desktop about SecureBoot having a problem.
I went into my BIOS, made sure it was enabled, and then set up some kind of "key" that the directions said to do. I clicked save and exit, and after that instead of booting into Windows, I'd be at a black screen, everything running inside my computer, and with my keyboard and mouse both turning on at the same time, then turning off at the exact same time 3-4 seconds later along with a quiet sort of clicking sound inside the computer. Over and over, looping endlessly.
I opened it up, checked connections, removed parts and tried booting with each thing moved. It only finally booted when I removed my graphics card and plugged my monitor into the onboard DVI port.
After that I shut down, put my graphics card back in, booted with the monitor still plugged into the onboard DVI, and it booted without issue. I then plugged the monitor back into the graphics card DVI port and rebooted. Went back to the clickly flashy no-POST cycle. After repeating this whole process a few times, I realized that when it's in that cycle, if I just plug the monitor into the onboard DVI port, I get the POST beep and everything boots up.
Eventually I just did some messing around in the BIOS, turned SecureBoot off as well as disabled onboard graphics and then booted the PC back up with the monitor in the graphics card DVI port. It boots fine now, I've rebooted 5-6 times now and it goes into Windows 8.1 no problem.
Windows Freezes At Right Clicking In Computer

I installed windows 8 on it however when ever i would right click anywhere in my computer (the view/refresh menu would come however the new/view/sort one would not come) it no matter if it be with the trackpad or a mouse the blue circle would start spinning forever and i would be forced to close the folder i currently have:

4.00 Gb RAM
64 bit Windows 8

Windows 8 Explorer Crashes On Right Clicking
Jan 24, 2013i bought a new laptop (HP Envy m6-1140sg) some weeks ago. I have Nortin Internet Security installed.
I wanted to try out that NIS Trial Reset because HP Laptops have NIS already installed. I rebooted my Laptop into safe mode with Network and then started it. I accidentally chose to Purge my NIS. I didn't know what purge means. . I opened the Trial Reset app again and chose to revert my trial to 60 days. Then it disappeared. I rebooted my laptop in Normal Mode and then tried to open NIS. But it didnt come up. I uninstalled NIS and then I noticed this:
When I try to open the Explorer on the desktop, the screen would just go blue and then Explorer closes itself. 2. When I right click a shortcut or anything the screen also goes blue. After the screen goes blue it would go normal again.
PS. I can only open Explorer when i open it through an other shortcut. ex. I got a shortcut to an directory (C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XaerosoftAirbus X ExtendedDocumentation) That is the only way I can open Explorer, but as i said, the screen will go blue if I right click anything.

Windows 8 - Cannot Install Except By Right Clicking And Run As Admin
Apr 25, 2013At present I cannot run any program installer except by right clicking and choosing 'Run as Administrator'.
This has happened twice recently and the cause is totally unknown to me. I have just recently re-installed everything afresh, and this morning I have got the same problem - I clicked on an installer and the following error message popped up:
Unable to execute file in temporary directory. Setup aborted.
Error 5: Access is denied.
Reason and a remedy for this?
Windows 8 Installed With PWBOOT In USB Disk Drive - Missing Apps In Metro Start Screen
May 3, 2013I installed Windows 8 with the program PWBOOT in USB disk drive and some of the apps in the metro Start Screen they didn't installed. Also the Windows store app is missing so I can't download the apps from the Windows 8 store. What should I do to bring em there? I also have a Windows 8 disc. Can I write em without deleting all the third party desktop apps? If so then how?
