Integrate Windows 8 Boot Loader To Reset Activation To Trial Period And Activate System With Offline Key
Mar 14, 2014
About this topic [URL]...
What I need to know is that: Is that possible to integrate a loader onto Windows 8 boot loader to reset the activation to trial period and then activate the system with an offline key (activate as offline only)?
This way we could make somekind of loader to set activation status as OK as far as online is not intented. And we can continue to have an trial adventure for life with Windows 8. Is that possible or no one tried it yet?
One more question, does the dev who made that topic has the tool for his method so we can try it on any win8 machine? If so, download link?

I have a valid activated 8.1 Pro + W M C system and need to do several re-installs on the same partition and hardware to test some unattended scripts for customization, etc.
When I re install, there is no network connectivity until I install the proper drivers. I am currently replacing the install data. that and token data with the activated versions from my original install, after which I run slmgr. -i p k with the original key without any errors, but the system shows not activated. I don't remember this being the case with Win 8 doing the same thing.
Apparently, just restoring the activated tokens and installing the same product key isn't enough to get back the previous activation status when offline. I can reactivate going online and that stays activated even after going back offline, but not after a re-install. I always have to reactivate online. How to avoid this?

Can I (correctly) convert my current 8.1 (retail) into VHDX and boot from it using the same 8.1 boot loader or not?
I honestly don't know if I would be running two instances. Would it work if I deleted the C:/ partition and booted the VHD from another disk or partition? Would that be OK? Seems to me it would be two instances but I don't know.
I'm not interested in VMware or VirtualBox - just Hyper-V or some similar bare metal solution. Hyper-V server I could not make work really - it is not what it is designed for - I want wifi, bluetooth etc. Windows server would work but I can not afford it.

My Boot loader on my Desktop crashed so i formatted the drive as it was my only option. I'm attempting to reinstall windows...
-so i downloaded windows from: Upgrade Windows with only a product key as i was instructed to by the 1800 Microsoft support staff.
-made a usb installation media and used my Original Product Key. i did this on my laptop. and then once the installation media was finished i plugged it in to my desktop. it didn't work it said the product key was invalid and to please try again.
-so i called them back and the ended up giving me a new product key. i tried that with them still on the line and it didn't work their suggestion was to recreate the installation media.
- i did that this morning because i was irritated enough for one night. any way it didn't work, i noticed one thing. at the end of the creation of the installation media it keeps giving me my old product key to use.
Just to be clear because I tend to ramble a lot. this old product key is the one that i got from Microsoft when i purchased windows 8 pro. i purchased it online at microsoft.com when windows 8 first came out. i have no original installation disk because i originally downloaded some software from their site.
I dont want to buy a new copy of windows because in my opinion i shouldn't have to. What i would like to figure out is how do i create instalation media with the new product key that they gave me? every time i reinstall the install windows 8 file from Microsoft.com it for some strange reason keeps giving me my old product key and i cant seem to be able to change that.

My store manager says it can't be done, but I feel there's a way...the problem is of course 8.1 requires different product keys than 8.0 -- where upgrading to 8.1 also changes the product key -- so 8.0 install media won't take 8.1 keys and visa-versa. So when you only have an 8.0 key, you have to first install 8.0 and then upgrade to 8.1; this is a bit weird because 8.1 is essentially a service pack; first "8.1", then "Update 1", what's next for the rebranding of service packs? I can only fathom they did this to cement their new "rapid release" cycle for consumer editions of Windows.
Note: "Easily activate" means not having to call Microsoft to fix the activation.

ReFS Activator_1.jpg
The program allows you to activate the ReFS (Resilient File System) in Windows 8. Supported versions of Windows 8 are RTM (build 9200), Release Preview (build 8400), Consumer Preview (build 8250), both 32- and 64-bits.
You are using this software at your own risk, we do not take responsibility for any damages to your system, but we do not believe it can harm anyone anyway. If you want to be able to remove the ReFS, before its activation, create a restore point.

I recently had to do a system restore through the Dell System Restore programme, however now it appears I cannot activate Windows 8 - I get the "Windows cannot activate right now. Try activating Windows later".
I have tried entering manually through a command prompt but all I get is an error 0x8004F80B. How to resolve this?

Upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows store. Can't use refresh or reset anymore.
Installed Windows 8.1 trial. Can't use Windows 8 OEM key to activate it.
Attempted to install windows 8 from Microsoft site, so I could use my Windows 8 OEM key, however, won't accept key on site because it says it is not a retail key.
How can I get Windows 8 back on my computer, activated with my OEM key?
If I do that then I guess I can upgrade it again from the Windows store to Windows 8.1.

I need to perform a System Refresh against once of my computers. However, when I try to launch the System Refresh option, it claims Windows is missing some files to do so and to insert a Windows installation media or recovery media to claim those files.
Here's the trip-up: I created recovery media on another Windows 8.1 computer and that STILL didn't work (said something about the media not being valid, despite being generated in the same OS). How do I get this to work?
I did do my homework on this issue and apparently having done the Windows 8.1 upgrade through the Windows Store strips out its ability to do a Refresh/Reset unless an ISO is present (of which you don't have one of course because of how you did the upgrade; chicken and egg problem right there). Two of my computers were done as Windows Store upgrades but my Ultrabook was not (for that I did a complicated jig that allowed me to keep all my installed Windows 8.1 Preview software while still moving to the Windows 8.1 final build). However it doesn't seem to matter as even the Ultrabook, despite its unique upgrade path, still fails to start a Refresh (should I want to do one there) so the problem is all over my Windows 8.1 machines.

I was running windows 8.1 back in January and it crashed during an update. After that, the system wouldn't start and just kept on going round in circles trying to fix itself. (See thread 'Solved: Can't fix windows 8.1, PC locked. Last post 28-2-2014.)
Under diagnostic tests at a local PC repair shop, a hard drive failure seemed to be the problem. Since it was under warranty, it went back to PC World who sent it back to Lenovo. I got it back in March but all they did was a system reset, putting it back on windows 8.
Everything is now working fine apart from one fact. It won't update. I just get the 'failure configuring updates, reverting changes' message. My metro tiles stopped working yesterday as well. I presume this is also an update issue. Under investigation it appears updates have never been installed. I came across a message saying the place where windows stores updates has been moved. How do I repair this, since the windows update troubleshooter doesn't work? I am fairly conversant in DOS, but it's been a while.
I'm using a Lenovo Ideacentre B340 running windows 8 with the following spec:
Intel Pentium CPU G645 @ 2.90GHz
DDR3 SDRAM
Lenovo Mahobay motherboard
440GB Hard Drive
I have enabled safemode startup on the F8 key and everything of importance is backed up.

Well, I had a dual booted machine booting Windows 8 and Ubuntu.
Windows 8 was starting to play up so I decided to completely reset the computer. I backed everything up, booted to Windows 8 and hit the 'Reset PC' button.
After answering some questions (full erase, whole disc etc), it informed me that it was going to restart. I clicked accept.
Short Story:
- Corrupted Windows 8 partition
- Corrupted Windows 8 recovery partition
Long Story:
Instead of rebooting back to anything, I got left sitting at a grub rescue prompt. From there I told it to boot windows 8.
I then spent five minutes staring at the booting screen. Nothing happened.
I powered off and tried again, this time pointing grub rescue at the windows 8 recovery loader partition. Well, initially that looked like it worked. I got the nice metro UI, and chose 'reset this PC' It then informed me that the recovery partition was missing some files. The only other option was to shut down.
I tried booting just plain windows 8 again, but had the same problem as before (nothing happening), And now when I try to boot the recovery loader, Grub tells me the EFI file isn't where it expects it to be. (Interestingly, how are you meant to boot to this without having a non-windows bootloader?)
Additional Details: Computer: HP Envy M6-1206TX. Pre-installed with Windows 8. Bought about 1 month, 1 week ago.
The Questions:
Since windows 8 came pre-installed, I don't have a Windows 8 disc, are there any possibilities for me to get back windows 8? (other than contacting the store I purchased it from)
After going through the license agreement, my interpretation is that I still have a license for Windows 8, but I am not under their limited warranty (due to dual booting). I do not wish to buy another license, as I already have one.
One last question:
If you acquired the software on a disc or other physical media, your proof of license is the genuine. Microsoft certificate of authenticity label with the accompanying genuine product key.
Neither my laptop, nor the box, nor any of the paperwork provided in it had this 'certificate of authenticity.' I suppose that means I have no legal rights to the software. Who's fault is this, HP, Microsoft, or the store I bought it from?

Factory reset on windows 8.
My son decided to reset his windows 8 laptop to original factory settings, during the reset process his mom decided it was taking to long and turned off the laptop.
Now when its turned on it shows the message "restoring your computer", this message will then change to "diagnosing your computer", the screen will then go blank and it start all over again.
I can boot it from a USB drive, but when I click on "repair" i get an error message that it cant repair the computer. When i try to run restore from the USB I get a similar message.
is there anyway to run the system restore from the DOS prompt?

Laptop Information- HP 2000 Notebook PC
Well, yesterday night, everything was going good until I tried to download League Of Legends on my laptop. I was multi-tasking on facebook, youtube, and a whole other stuff while my laptop was downloading League Of Legends, and then the whole laptop frooze and then I panicked and pressed the power button a couple times. When the laptop booted back up, it was all black and nothing happened.
I was searching online and pressed the F11 button to try and restore the laptop and it did work and I also got into windows 8. It was lagging and very slow when I booted into windows 8, and so I just decided to shutdown the laptop and try to refresh and reset the laptop from boot.
However the automatic recovery didn't work and couldn't repair the laptop. When I was refreshing and reseting the laptop, it wouldn't finish all the way, because it would stop at like 60% and then just stop and freeze. Now, I think I messed up a bit and now I can't boot into Windows 8 or even RESET,RESTORE,or REFRESH. Also I just dod a diagnostic check on UEFI, and my Hard Disk Short DST has failed, so I think that I need to replace my hard disk.
RIGHT NOW, MY LAPTOP BOOTS THIS SCREEN DOWN HERE
RECOVERY
Your PC needs to be repaired
The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.
File: Windowssystem32configsystem
Error code: 0xc000000f
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media(like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer
Press Enter to try again
Press F8 for Startup Settings
Press ESC for UEFI Firmware Settings
Press F9 to use a different operating system
All these options won't work because it will just loop back to this screen that I just showed you.

I've tried disabling startup programs through task manager and I've also tried ending background process, with no success.

At my company we are currently running a server (with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard), without Active Directory, and we have a bunch of laptops running Windows 8.1 Pro. Now we want to install Dynamics CRM which requires an Active Directory domain.
I am trying to run through every anticipated problem before I do the domain configuration. The last problem that I anticipate is the following:
Our MD's laptop is currently logging in without a Microsoft account (in other words, he uses a standard local user profile in Windows 8.1 Pro). He has a whole lot of data in this profile from a few years of work. So now, when we configure the domain, obviously he will have to sign in using an Active Directory username and password. So question 1 is, is it possible to synchronize the current local (non-Windows Live) account with the domain account? The second question is, how will this affect his data, settings, etc? And the third question is, when he's working from home, without the domain controller to authenticate logins, will he still be able to access his data and profile? In other words, what I'm really asking is, will we be able to kind of "integrate" the Active Directory account and local account as one account, but the authentication is AD based when he's at the office, but local if he's at home?

New Windows 8 Pro with WMC install to a new Intel SSD on an old Dell Inspiron 530. I got everything activated and working fine, and then I swapped the SSD for the old HDD to finish getting all my data. But when I swapped the SSD back in, I can no longer get Windows 8 to boot--it goes into automatic repair, but none of the options are available to me. Refresh won't work, reset won't work, I can't even get system restore to work (it shows me two restore points available, but it won't let me select them.)
This was a clean install, so it has the 350MB recovery partition. I believe the RAID is set properly (I have no straight up AHCI option in BIOS, but I installed Windows 8 under RAID [it shows "AHCI Bios enabled!" during POST], and remembered to change to IDE mode to boot the HDD, and back to RAID before trying to boot the SSD).
I've always been able to troubleshoot these sorts of problems under XP or 7, but I'm just not familiar with these Windows 8 processes (or SSDs/AHCI/RAID stuff) yet. I've got all the linux tools, Hirens, etc. available, and can verify that the files on the SSD appear to be fine. I could reinstall if necessary, but really don't want to have to deal with the upgrade and re-activating--and even if I do have to reinstall.

I was FORCED to install Windows 8 to my IMac 24 inch running Mountain Lion OS via Parallels 8 for the following reason. I receive an error message stating that some files cannot be moved and that I must create a single partition formatted Mac OS X Journal Extended. In short. the Windows 8 partition could not be created. The problem is, my drive is ALREADY a single partition in the aforementioned format. I succeeded in installing Windows 8 on my other IMac via Boot Camp with no problems. The only difference between the two IMacs is the former runs the Mountain Lion OS while the latter runs the Lion OS. I like Windows 8, however, there is significant performance degradation when running Windows 8 within Parallels.

Been running this system since 2010 win7 and upgraded to win 8.
When I switched over to win 8 I also bought an ssd drive (C) and it seemed to be working fine ever since.
I recently bought a couple 3TB drives and wanted to replace the old HDD (F), installed the drives, transferred all data off F and then shut down the pc. I took F out of the pc and it won't boot.
Going from loads of tutorials on here I found that F was listed as active and a system drive.
Any attempts at making it inactive and activating C resulted in nothing. I used my startup repair disc but there was no OS listed to repair??
Whenever C is active and F inactive, I've no options at all with startup repair.
