Mar 18, 2013I have been having problems on my primary hdd, and after doing a full hdd scan, I found that I had some bad sectors, which caused some windows hangs, problems, and some bad file reads.
After googling for programs to recover and fix those bad sectors, I have found HDD Regenerator, which did a wonderful job, on fixing and recovering all my bad sector by using a patented algorithm to magnetize again those bad sectors on my hdd.
But after that, I still have marked on my ntfs partition those bad sectors, even tough they are ok now, how to I reset the bad sectors on my partition, to mark them as good to use, Without losing the contents of my hdd?

Nov 28, 2013I have been using a program called Family Tree Legends for years now, but just recently when I try to open the program I receive the following message: "This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus. Please reinstall it." I have removed the program and reinstalled it several times and it still won't work. It's a family tree program that I used almost daily and now I'm concerned I lost everything. I even tried to open the program via the administrator function but it still won't work.

Aug 22, 2014It always fails to Clone/copy my current hard that has bad sectors, to a new hard disk. My present HDD is a 320GB and its health is really bad. I bought a new 500 hard disk and tried to clone and copy the whole HDD. I tried Paragon HDD Manager, O&O disk image and other two Software. All of them failed to clone or copy my old hard disk to new one.
What is the best solution. Paragon, copied data partially and gave an error at 80%. I tried few times and the same thing happened
Blue Screen - Boot Sector Keeps Getting Corrupted / Repair Freezes At 2%
Mar 6, 2013Hey, for like the 8th time now I've had to format my computer due to a blue screen error. The last error was HAL.dll missing or corrupted. My boot sector or whatever the correct name for it is, keeps getting corrupted and it will never repair, it just freezes at 2% and keeps looping. The drive I am using is the Corsair 240GB FORCE 3 SSD and I am not sure if the problem is due to SSD being bad or my motherboard being too old. I have the ASUS Striker II Extreme...
My second problem is, on my latest format, Windows 8 refuses to activate, it claims I cannot do a clean install and this is what I have been doing all the time. The other thing is that I cannot complete a Windows update, when it restarts, it says it has failed and rolls back the changes. I am not sure if this is because it wont activate but.
Now Windows has a problem with showing my real location, so I am getting the wrong weather reports and so on. One more thing I forgot to mention, I can't even check my system rating. Last time I did I check before the format my system was rated as 6.6, that was my lowest rated hardware and that was the SSD. Is that a normal score for an SSD?

However when ever I go to delete a file it automatically move to the recycle bin without asking me if i'm sure. It came with Windows 7 installed and when Windows 8 came out i installed this. I have freezes random without warning. This can be once or even twice a day or even happens after 3 days at a time. So sometimes it goes a long time without a freeze.use
All of my drivers are up to date and i am sure its not a hardware fault. I use Tune Up Utilities, CC Cleaner and Mcafee and all system should be fine and it is not these programs causing a freeze as i got one before installing these!!!
When i get a freeze all i can do is to turn off and reboot!!
If i had been doing some work then this gets lost!
I have tried installing Win 8 on a fresh clean install and tried also upgrade from Win 7 but no matter have freezes on both installs.
HP Pavilion Laptop Battery Dies With No Warning
Aug 27, 2014A couple months ago, my laptop stopped giving me a low battery warning. It would just die when the battery was too low. This wasn't a big deal a couple months ago because I was on summer vacation, but now that school is in session, I will lose my notes and homework without much chance to revive. I have tried adjusting the warning levels in the advanced power settings, but that did nothing.

These two messages went away for awhile and now the're are back. How to make them go away? I don't think I did anything with tracing to make this happen?! I know I should make a pledge to never look at the Event Log but...every once in awhile I uncover something that can be fixed. I have Googled the messages but don't seem to be able to find any real solution. I tried deleting the .etl file but it fills up on the next boot.
Maintenance :: File History Warning Event ID 204?
Nov 9, 2013My 12 month old Win 8 64 bit self-build pc has been very stable and as yet, no BSODs.
I want to update /upgrade to Win 8.1 (I have also acquired the ISO) and have managed to execute a File History to my Samsung USB3 1TB ext HDD as a safeguard in preparation. I would prefer to update via the Store to avoid having to reinstall all my programmes
However the File History event log is indicating yellow warning signs and Code 204 errors. Detail states: "Unusual condition was encountered during finalisation of back up cycle for configuration". I am concerned therefore that this might prevent me properly doing a File History recovery should I need to. Researching elsewhere indicates that 204 errors result from corrupted system files.
I have checked the Ext HDD which has the File History folder (12.5 GB) and all my files seem to have been copied OK.
Debugging :: Windows 8.1 - Sudden Shutdowns Without Warning
Nov 11, 2013I will be using a browser, or just typing an essay, nothing computer intensive and all of a sudden the computer will black screen and power down, and you can hear the power quickly drain from the computer as everything suddenly stops. I will turn it back and it will seem as if nothing has happened. Attached is the files I got from the SevenForums diagnostic tool.
Notes:
-According to Asus Live Update, Windows Update, and Intel Graphics Driver Update, I'm up to date.
-According to Avast Software Updater, I'm up to date on software (though I know that that only manages some software).
-Specs (just in case): Amazon.com: ASUS A55A-AH51-RD 15.6-Inch LED Laptop ( Red ): Computers & Accessories
-I do run computer intensive things on this dinky laptop (battlefield 3, saints row the third, arkham city, a minecraft server + mysql server at times, etc) and it does not crash (besides low on memory warnings).
-Running Windows 8.1
-Safeboot off (I was going to install linux mint, but decided to wait until the warranty runs out. Didn't feel like going back to turn safeboot back on, so I have to deal with the stupid watermark).
Illegal Activity Warning Message On Startup
Jul 10, 2014I get this message on startup of Windows 8, before the login screen. Dunno if its from a virus or malware.

Clicking OK on that brings up the login screen and I can log into Windows fine. But whether or not i log in or wait at the message, the computer will restart. I get about 2 minutes before it restarts.

-I have done a full scan of all partitions with Kaspersky Rescue Disc 10. Found no viruses.
-Have enabled legacy boot menu policy so can boot into safe mode by pressing F8. Message still appears and computer still restarts.
-Unable to Refresh PC, due to drive being locked.
-Unable to Reset PC, due to a required partition is missing.
-I have uninstalled the graphics driver while in safe mode.
-I have done chkdsk, found no errors.
-System Restore Failed.
-Cannot do a sfc scan, due to Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. (Running from Windows 8 disc)

Sep 15, 2014My 32 bit Enterprise install was fine before lunch. I shut it down and then rebooted some while later and find that every click I do on IE gives this warning. Malware ? I can't find anything and so I thought that restoring to a previous disk image would resolve it for sure.

Opening IE and just displaying any of my three home tabs (outlook, Bing and Google) and the warning is still there. I'm at a loss with this one. One to look at again tomorrow I think.

Debugging :: Kernel Processor Power Event ID 37 (Warning)
May 26, 2014Recently I noticed a game that I had been playing had started to stutter and slowdown more than usual, the performance issues were to be expected as the games engine is notorious for being poorly optimized, however these occurrences were fairly rare in comparison to the issues i'm experiencing now.
It seems for the last two days the performance of said game had been dismal, where i'd get a mostly consistent frame-rate before, I now only have a stutter riddled mess.
Looking through the Event Log I noticed a entry shown as; Kernel-Processor-Power Event ID 37, the text below it shows this; 'The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 7 seconds since the last report' the entry had been generated at '7:56pm' of today, which I found odd, as I believe that's when I started my game.
This had not been the only instance it seems, there were some entries from a few weeks back that show the same thing, however they were few and far in between. It seem I have 3 entries, all from today (12:00am, 3:56pm, 7:56pm) all warnings.

Windows Reserved Partition Out Of Memory Warning - Dell E6420
Jan 17, 2014I am dual booting my dell e6420, 8 gb ram. I have windows 8 on my HD and windows 8 on my ssd. Since I do live audio work, I keep the ssd system super clean. It doesn't get on the net, etc.
Recently windows prompted me to upgrade my hd os from 8 to 8.1, which I did. Since then, every few minutes, I get a popup saying I have Low disk space on my system reserved partition. It's 300 mb, which seems larger than most, but there is indeed only 1 mb free. But of course when I run disk cleanup, there is nothing that can be deleted!
It's now popping up about every 2 minutes. Very annoying.
I have 2 os's, do I even need the srp? But why on earth would it run out of memory? Maybe because of the dual boot? But I'd think they'd account for that.
should I expand the volume? That just seemed a little dangerous, and hopefully unnecessary.

Oct 24, 2013I have a Dell Latitude E5530 using win 8. I've been away for about a month and have not signed in.Today I signed-in and requested to update to the new windows 8.1 version. Upon completion and restart of my laptop,
I keep getting this warning box message. "ALPS driver has found IOCTL - error:320".
Click ok and message box goes away, but keeps displaying every attempt I log in.
Is there some new Alps driver I need to download?
Never had this problem before I applied 8.1 updates.
Graphic Cards :: Not Plugged In Warning - Loud Beeping Sound?
Oct 3, 2013Whenever I restart my computer I sometimes get in red letters a warning saying you have not plugged in your graphics card and a loud beeping sound. I already checked it and made sure it is fully plugged in, what's going on?
Also, only when restarting it occasionally gives me that warning. Other than that, its fine booting up, never gave me the error. Also if i get the error and press the reset button on the computer it'll do that until I force it to shutdown by holding the power button. And, my display works fine.

Nov 29, 2013I downloaded the drivers for windows 7 x64bit for the SD card reader in my system. I have installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64.
I had the same issue with Windows 8 and now that I have settled on 8.1 need to fix my card reader. Funny thing is that the drivers from Microsoft load (2006) and all devices look fine in Device Manager.
Even after installing the link from Acer and even searching around and getting other ones from Lenovo, HP still no go.

Jun 3, 2014Had drive problems with PC so got new SSD drives and a Hybrid drive.All new drives so did tortuous route install win7 - upgrade to win 8.0 all worked then started acting up. My tech support worked on it for 2 days and gave up said I should backup and do a clean install from start. So I did.
Not yet put any backup files on so only operating system and devices (printer, wireless keyboard/mouse, wireless headset and 3webcams ( One Pluscom and two PCline ) checked device manager and found cameras with yellow exclamation mark and checked properties and saw this webcam.JPG . Download, install and do a reboot and see what happens.
