How do I arrange the favorites in IE10 METRO that appear below the address bar above the address bar to look like this:

All I get is a long roll of frequently visited sites and favorite below the address bar.
IE Metro tile is missing from my metro start screen. It's not in the 'all apps' list either. when I go to program default, it is set as the default browser. I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have the metro version tile on my start.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn a variety of sites -- YouTube, eBay, FoxNews.com, etc -- IE10 (the desktop, non-Metro version) crashes twice and then gives up, returning this error message:
"When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop."
If you google that error, you get some MS suggestions on how to fix it in IE9. The auto fix doesn't run under Windows 8, and clearly doesn't apply anyway, and the manual suggestion to reset IE didn't work.
I realize that when I click to download a file and get the "do you want to save or open this file" dialog, I can press "Alt+O" to open, or "Alt+S" to save.
But to reach "Save as" I have to click the down arrow.
Is there a shortcut key for "save as" ?
My application s/w runs only on ie8, how to downgrade from ie 10 to ie 8 in windows 8.

I have a few email addresses that I use, in W7 I can type the first letter and all the other addies with the same letter are displayed. How I do it in Win 8.

It was factory reset so this is a computer/browser issue, nothing with the restore
I had Yahoo Email set as default. For each of my previous computers, I did too.
I cannot find the link telling me how to do it: I remember seeing it could be done with a particular version of Yahoo toolbar And I saw one that would install the mail plugin with Yahoo Messenger
Neither has been there when I installed several versions.
When I disable Flash through "Manage Add-ons" I find that I can still play some YouTube videos (I assume using html5) but when the video ends my screen goes blank for a second and then the computer goes to the login screen. When I log back in all the applications that were open are no longer open. Is there any way to disable Flash in IE10 and not have this behavior?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from a local account to a MS account & noticed that it brought in my saved favorites (from the last time I had a MS acct using Win 8), which caused some duplicates.
While I was going thru & deleting the duplicates, I accidently deleted some of my favorites. What I am trying to do is see if there is a way to look at the IE favorites saved to my MS account & then re add the missing ones back really quick.
IE Desktop (Menu bar) Favorites always seem to sort by name. Want to manually shift high usage items to top like I could with IE8. Have disabled Add-ons (Classic IE, Logitech SetPoint, Shockwave) with no effect. Looked in IE options for a sort or drag/drop setting, but didn't see anything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason or other I can no longer access my email account Outlook.com (known formerly as Hotmail.com) when using the Internet Explorer10 browser, it will not go to the sign in window, although I can access the account by using the "InPrivate Browsing" option in IE10.
Not a huge problem as I can and do use another browser most of the time. I am curious as to why this has occurred more than anything?
The Manage Addon window in IE10 is not displaying correctly and there seems to be no way to resize the two panes that are not showing correctly. Do you think this would be a registry problem or do you think a reinstall of IE10 would override whatever setting is causing the window to display improperly. Would an uninstall and reinstall of IE10 be necessary or the best course?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 8.1 64 bit started forgetting the view settings from a folder.So if I go in a folder and I set it to List-View for example,whenever I close that folder and I reopen it the view is set automatically to Details view.And this applies to every folder in my computer except Desktop.It drives me crazy,especially in my pictures folders.
Also with this problem another one came.I can't set a program to open some files,so the file associations for some files is broken. For example i can't set qTorrent to open torrent files.It just won't open them and the files apear as white documents just like I hadn't had a Torrent program installed already.I find it weird that both problems appeared together.
I previously had to reinstall windows on my machine,because of this problems.It worked normal at the begging,but today these problems appeared again.I tried scanning SFC Scan with no result.
Update:I also just discovered that Metro apps are not working anymore...what the heck its wrong with my windows.
So upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0 in the hope it was more user friendly but no evidence so far but that's not my issue...now when I'm in Internet Explorer if I click on a link or even a webpage...it takes me to a blank screen that tells me to 'check the link'....if I refresh nothing happens but if I go back to the original link or web icon and try again it loads the page (sometimes takes a couple of goes to do it)...also it keeps asking me to 'login' to frequently used things like facebook and my Hotmail account which it never did in the past....when using 8.0 it was all good but nothing but trouble in 8.1.

Whenever I switch to 480p, 720p, or 1080p the video goes black and freezes. Happens in Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Don't have this problem in OSX or Win 7 via Bootcamp. Just bought a Lenovo with Win 8 stock.

Is there any way to add a website to compatibility view settings and that it will stick?
I have just noticed at few days ago that in Internet Explorer 11 if I go to "view" tab to change the size of the browser window I'm viewing , the "50%" and "Custom" selection is shaded and NOT available. I do not know what might have happened to change this, or how to change it back.

I have already installed Skype desktop to get around the Live ID crap for the metro version, and I will install Thunderbird if needed, but if I can find a way around it I will use the built in mail client.
I'm trying to use the mail app more and haven't found how to insert a photo into the body of an email. I can do this in the Outlook web app but not in the metro mail app.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Windows 8 tablet and I'm forced to use IE10 on it to browse the Internet because everything else is crap. I like the idea how you can swipe to the left and right to go back and forth webpages. But when info that, instead of just loading the page from a cache, the page completely reloads. It doesn't even take me the correct location of the webpage. These issues completely take away the advantage of swipe navigation.
Is there anyway to force IE not to reload the webpage completely when swiping back (don't really care about forward part)? If I could set a time period before reloading the page, that would be ideal.
BTW, It could be more noticeable because this Atom based tablet is much slower than a typical Windows 8 PC. Besides, I don't use IE on the desktop so I don't know how it performs on it. I bet it won't be as noticeable as on the tablet because it is multiple times faster than the tablet and it is connected to he Internet with a cable.
