Windows 8 IE 10 (All recent updates) Like to watch wood working videos on Youtube. No problems before today ,now they will not play. Been reading and some mention of ActiveX and Flashplayer settings. I have done now changes to any settings since all was working fine. What should I be looking at to fix ?
View 9 RepliesWhenever I switch to 480p, 720p, or 1080p the video goes black and freezes. Happens in Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Don't have this problem in OSX or Win 7 via Bootcamp. Just bought a Lenovo with Win 8 stock.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to do a PC refresh due to virus attacks on my Win 8 laptop. Whether I try in IE or Firefox I can' get YouTube videos to play. I've installed the most recent Adobe Flash player and plugins as well as JavaScript.
When I try in IE I get an error right on the video screen stating there is an error and to click for more info. When checking the info, I've done everything it recommends.
When I try in Firefox it will play a commercial ad but when it's finished just sits idle instead of continuing with the video.
Download from a site, like a picture or media file (music, etc.), it downloads it fully, but it still says it is still downloading even when you can see the current state such as 40.7MB out of 40.7MB completed only certain sites do this, but others don't So something is off here, and since I got this from FB and another site or more, Firefox might be having a bug issue. I tried a resetting Firefox, but it didn't do anything. Another issue that might be Firefox-related is Youtube. In this case, the viewing history doesn't show any videos. I thought it was a site issue. It could be, but it's still the case now. Since I mentioned one issue, might as well mention this one too.

I can't connect to YouTube at all now with any browsers or other in-game clients.
But I can access to this site via Anonymouse.org, but I can't watch the videos inside.
I have cleared the cache and done whatever Goggle tells me to do, but it just doesn't work.
After my upgrade to 8.1 Pro my computer lost the ability to sleep/hibernate. After following many tips on here, I managed to get sleep & hibernation onto the shutdown menu so manual operatin works okay.
The automatic mode is still a work in progress but I'm wondering if I've managed to get it to go into automatic sleep mode but not as yet hibernation.
I prefer to use hibernation so don't really know alot about sleep mode - I've got it configured to go into hibernation (10 minutes ) before sleep (15 minutes) in the power options.
After a period of time the computer will automatically attempt to enter either sleep or hibernation mode - not sure which. The screen switches off and the cpu increases in volume as if its consuming more power. The blue light flashes slowly which to me signifies that it has entered sleep mode. The computer has in effect shut down but sounds like its in overdrive with either the cpu or fan going ten to the dozen. Clicking the mouse wakes it up and brings it back to the sign-on screen.
So what's going on here? Is this a failed attempt at sleep mode as trying manual sleep brings the same result. It certainly doesn't go into automatic hibernation which is something I'm ultimately trying to resolve.
So I'm not sure if I've solved automatic sleep or not as its unbearably noisy and not something I can put up with.
Quite a while ago, Google started with the pop-up messages on YouTube, asking to merge your Google+ and YouTube channel. At the time I didn't feel like it and selected that I wanted to keep both my Google+ page and my YouTube channel separate from each other on the same Gmail account.
However, on YouTube I now have two different channels. One that in fact is my Google+ profile (no videos) and the old YouTube Channel (with videos) that I already had.
How do I merge these two services from the same Gmail account to one profile?
Somehow I have lost the ability to not use my microsoft account password to get access to my home computer. How can I get this back to my old password not connected to Microsoft account?

When I disable adblock on Chrome it works sometimes.
So upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0 in the hope it was more user friendly but no evidence so far but that's not my issue...now when I'm in Internet Explorer if I click on a link or even a webpage...it takes me to a blank screen that tells me to 'check the link'....if I refresh nothing happens but if I go back to the original link or web icon and try again it loads the page (sometimes takes a couple of goes to do it)...also it keeps asking me to 'login' to frequently used things like facebook and my Hotmail account which it never did in the past....when using 8.0 it was all good but nothing but trouble in 8.1.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my desktop computer, when I try viewing youtube videos (and videos from some other sources) full screen, the toolbar across the bottom of screen in the desktop mode remains visible, blocking my view of (and use of) the player controls at bottom of the youtube player. All I can see is the seek bar moving as the video plays. If I put the toolbar in the AutoHide mode, then I can see (and use) the youtube player controls.
On my laptop with Windows 8, this problem does not exist. The entire player appears normally as if there were an "always on top" mode.
One difference is that the laptop had Windows 8 factory installed, while I installed Windows 8 over XP in my desktop. (That $39 deal offered at the beginning of the year was too good to pass up). Both computers have x64-based processors.
Computer comparisons:
Laptop: Samsung; AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon HD Graphics, 2.70 GHz; 4.00 GB RAM, 64-bit OS
Desktop: Homebuilt; AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 5050e; ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (with latest driver); 2GB RAM; 32-bit OS
Neither computer has the toolbar in the AutoHide mode.
On some sites with the desktop computer, when I move the mouse pointer toward the left edge of the player, the seek bar retracts and I can't grab it to drag it to the right. I don't know the if laptop also has this problem.
I have no sound on my Lenovo Laptop.

have Windows 8 64 bit. I have looked up this no sound problem on googgle and tried all recommendation to no avail. My audio card is not showing it has an issue. I have tried a headset and I am unable to hear any sound. I can play any videos on my computer but no sound. I can play YouTube on Chrome (no sound) but cant play YouTube in Firefox as it errors out This just happened this week - I don't know why. I don't remember downloading anything and I did not install any new software.

All I get is a long roll of frequently visited sites and favorite below the address bar.
When I try to run the videos at this site, the black window for the video opens, but no video appears to run. Using MS Defender for AV, and have tried disabling pop up blocker, with no change. I can run the videos with my Win7 laptop which also uses IE11 and Defender. The difference between the two setups seems to be Windows 8.1. What I could change for settings to get the video to run.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just noticed today that my windows 8 mail app (the standard one from ms) was no longer showing me notifications when email arrived. I went over to the app and noticed that the google syncing had changed and required me to re-authenticate my google account to it. That went fine. Then I noticed that my exchange account is now missing from the app (not in the mailbox view, nor is it in the list of accounts). However, when I try to add my exchange account, it says "You've already added this account". Is there anywhere else I can remove the exchange account or somehow get it show up again in the mail app?

I have just noticed at few days ago that in Internet Explorer 11 if I go to "view" tab to change the size of the browser window I'm viewing , the "50%" and "Custom" selection is shaded and NOT available. I do not know what might have happened to change this, or how to change it back.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Norton trial that came preloaded in my HP laptop was about to expire so I removed it using the Symantec Norton tool remover.
Now I only have IE 11. The Firefox and Chrome browsers won't connect to the internet. I tried system restore a couple of times but that's not working either.
How to get my browsers back. I ran the adware removal tool, AVG scan and malwarebytes. Everything is clean.
My question is about IE, Google Chrome and other browsers. The sounds and musics playing on the browsers I have installed, stops every time I switch to another application. For example: If I open a music video on youtube and switch to the e-mail app, the video continue playing but the sound and music stops. I wonder if any of you have already noticed that and if you know if it's possible to fix this issue (for me this is a problem since I like to play some videos and do other stuff while I listen to what is playing).
