I've set up a few computers for some users and would like to prevent their ability to rearrange the order of the favorite links in the IE10 favorite bar. How can I accomplish this?
View 3 RepliesWhen ever I click a mailto link in either Chrome, IE, Firefox and Opera it opens up a new chrome browser window. Before I installed windows 8 I had it opening up Outlook 2010 new email, now it opens up a new Chrome browser window.
How do I change it in windows 8 to when I click a link in any browser to open up Outlook 2010 new email as it did before?
When I click on email links on websites, instead of my mail program coming up with the address in the "to" line, I get a mail sign in page. To avoid it, I have to right click and copy email address, then go to my mail program and paste it in.

I haven't found a way to rearrange the order that the accounts are listed in the bottom left corner of the mail app window.
I cannot add new links to my favorites folders anymore. cannot recall changing anything in IE. When I try to add a link it gives me an error that simply states that it cannot add it to internet explorer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn a variety of sites -- YouTube, eBay, FoxNews.com, etc -- IE10 (the desktop, non-Metro version) crashes twice and then gives up, returning this error message:
"When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop."
If you google that error, you get some MS suggestions on how to fix it in IE9. The auto fix doesn't run under Windows 8, and clearly doesn't apply anyway, and the manual suggestion to reset IE didn't work.
So I disabled AdBlock the other day and noticed links with popup ads like in the image below. I'm seeing them on this site also. Is that a virus? Any way to determine what is causing them?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0 in the hope it was more user friendly but no evidence so far but that's not my issue...now when I'm in Internet Explorer if I click on a link or even a webpage...it takes me to a blank screen that tells me to 'check the link'....if I refresh nothing happens but if I go back to the original link or web icon and try again it loads the page (sometimes takes a couple of goes to do it)...also it keeps asking me to 'login' to frequently used things like facebook and my Hotmail account which it never did in the past....when using 8.0 it was all good but nothing but trouble in 8.1.

But to reach "Save as" I have to click the down arrow.

I have not made any changes recently, and up to a couple of weeks ago they worked okay. I have run virus and spyware checks and tried system restore, but no joy.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Incredimail, but no joy. Made sure file associations are set to open IE11, still no joy.
Any easy way to copy URL links in Internet Explorer? In Chrome I just right click on a picture like in Farmville and I get the option to copy LINK URL or IMAGE URL. Can you do that in IE too? Chrome is my favorite but I've been having trouble with it in Farmville.

I had Yahoo Email set as default. For each of my previous computers, I did too.
I cannot find the link telling me how to do it: I remember seeing it could be done with a particular version of Yahoo toolbar And I saw one that would install the mail plugin with Yahoo Messenger
Neither has been there when I installed several versions.
When I disable Flash through "Manage Add-ons" I find that I can still play some YouTube videos (I assume using html5) but when the video ends my screen goes blank for a second and then the computer goes to the login screen. When I log back in all the applications that were open are no longer open. Is there any way to disable Flash in IE10 and not have this behavior?

All I get is a long roll of frequently visited sites and favorite below the address bar.
For some reason or other I can no longer access my email account Outlook.com (known formerly as Hotmail.com) when using the Internet Explorer10 browser, it will not go to the sign in window, although I can access the account by using the "InPrivate Browsing" option in IE10.
Not a huge problem as I can and do use another browser most of the time. I am curious as to why this has occurred more than anything?
The Manage Addon window in IE10 is not displaying correctly and there seems to be no way to resize the two panes that are not showing correctly. Do you think this would be a registry problem or do you think a reinstall of IE10 would override whatever setting is causing the window to display improperly. Would an uninstall and reinstall of IE10 be necessary or the best course?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 8 home with IE 10. I want to DISABLE selective browser history deletion (open history, right-click-delete certain websites). I don't have gpedit.msc but I believe it falls under the "Prevent User from deleting websites visited" or something along those lines. I found a registry key edit "CleanHistory" and I have changed the value back and forth from 0 and 1 but it still hasn't stopped me from being able to selectively delete. I found the registry key on multiple websites so I imagine it's supposed to work but it just isn't. User error, perhaps?

I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have the metro version tile on my start.

Lately, when switching between accounts have been experiencing a 20 to 30 second lag before any response from any program. Example, I log in to my account, I click on email......it is a wait before response. In fact, if I click again before I get a response two instances of mail, or two browsers or any program comes up. It has not always been like this and, occasionally, it syncs in all programs as soon I log on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using my Gmail account with the Windows 8 Mail App and it was all working fine until I updated it through the store yesterday (I haven't updated it before so I don't know what version of the app I am now using). Today when I try and access my folders I just getting a message saying 'no messages from the last 2 weeks', meaning I cannot access all those useful emails that I have kept on purpose without using gmail through chrome. I have looked through the settings and cannot find if there is a way to change this - is there? Or can I un-install the update and just go back to using the old version, and if so, how would I do this.
