The Manage Addon window in IE10 is not displaying correctly and there seems to be no way to resize the two panes that are not showing correctly. Do you think this would be a registry problem or do you think a reinstall of IE10 would override whatever setting is causing the window to display improperly. Would an uninstall and reinstall of IE10 be necessary or the best course?
View 9 RepliesWhen I disable Flash through "Manage Add-ons" I find that I can still play some YouTube videos (I assume using html5) but when the video ends my screen goes blank for a second and then the computer goes to the login screen. When I log back in all the applications that were open are no longer open. Is there any way to disable Flash in IE10 and not have this behavior?

I've checked compatibility settings.. Is there anything else I can do to show these pages correctly? IE under Windows7 shows them correctly..
I upgraded my desktop PC, to Win 8.0 Pro then 8.1 Pro, a couple of weeks back. All has been working quite well with two user profiles, both using Firefox as their default browser. A few day ago, after taking a lunch break and waking the PC from sleep mode in the second user profile, Firefox opened with an empty screen; no menu or bookmarks bars and no response when left clicking the menu button. If I used the Alt button on the keyboard to bring up the traditional menu bar, I could temporarily restore the menu and bookmarks bars but they would disappear again on rebooting Firefox. In the second user profile, the menu button never shows a drop-down menu by left-clicking but it does respond normally with a right-click.
However, the presentation on screen is all wrong because the menu bars disappear each time I shut down and can only be restored by using F10>View>Menu bar. If I put a url in the search box and hit Enter, the web site is found and can be explored normally. I have tried deleting the defective Windows user, rebooted Windows and created another user. Unfortunately, the problem with Firefox persists for the new user but the primary user still has no difficulty and Firefox works perfectly there.
In the process, I also tried resetting Firefox but that seemed to have no effect. This investigation has already taken up one week of research with other FF users but absolutely nothing has worked. I have:
1. Run 3 different virus scans.
2. Run sfc /scannow.
3. Deleted and re-installed FF.
4. Deleted all the profile files I could find.
Yesterday I updated my laptop to Windows 8.1. On using Google to search, the result was not as expected. All text is shown in a single column one word on top of the other!!! I've checked and installed 8.1 updates and I've reset IE11 but still the same. No matter what I search for, text is shown one word on top of the other. I've tried Bing and as expected, being a Microsoft product, this displays correctly
View 7 Replies View RelatedI use two main and important add-ons : lastpass and FDM (free download manager). I like to use windows 8 new interface (Metro) to surf the net with add-on & toolbar features.I am not much familiar with this new interface.
The another problem with this new interface is that I can not surf the net while I am using video app .I think this new Microsoft windows interface hasn't got multi-tasking feature.
This new sync tab feature in IE11 is handy. But it's also a bit annoying. I have about 7 or 8 PCs I use frequently and I re-install the OS all the time. So I end up with orphan machines that appear in IE 11 sync tabs and I can't seem to find a way to remove them. I also noticed that these tabs mysteriously disappeared on some of my machines.

One artifact that remains i the manage add-ons window pops up every time ie starts. I cannot find anything to fix this behavior. I have looked in the registry and found nothing. I would also like to find out how to completely remove unwanted entries in the manage add-ons windows. there should be a way to do this. View 1 Replies View RelatedOn a variety of sites -- YouTube, eBay, FoxNews.com, etc -- IE10 (the desktop, non-Metro version) crashes twice and then gives up, returning this error message:
"When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop."
If you google that error, you get some MS suggestions on how to fix it in IE9. The auto fix doesn't run under Windows 8, and clearly doesn't apply anyway, and the manual suggestion to reset IE didn't work.
I realize that when I click to download a file and get the "do you want to save or open this file" dialog, I can press "Alt+O" to open, or "Alt+S" to save.
But to reach "Save as" I have to click the down arrow.
Is there a shortcut key for "save as" ?
My application s/w runs only on ie8, how to downgrade from ie 10 to ie 8 in windows 8.

I had Yahoo Email set as default. For each of my previous computers, I did too.
I cannot find the link telling me how to do it: I remember seeing it could be done with a particular version of Yahoo toolbar And I saw one that would install the mail plugin with Yahoo Messenger

All I get is a long roll of frequently visited sites and favorite below the address bar.
I've set up a few computers for some users and would like to prevent their ability to rearrange the order of the favorite links in the IE10 favorite bar. How can I accomplish this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason or other I can no longer access my email account Outlook.com (known formerly as Hotmail.com) when using the Internet Explorer10 browser, it will not go to the sign in window, although I can access the account by using the "InPrivate Browsing" option in IE10.
Not a huge problem as I can and do use another browser most of the time. I am curious as to why this has occurred more than anything?
I recently upgraded to windows 8.1 pro edition, which includes internet explorer 11. I still can't access my gmail account, I've tried the 'fixes' that I've seen in the community, but the only way I can get gmail to load in the 'desktop' version is to select the 'html' version.
How to get gmail to load correctly, but so far ..it still doesn't load like it did while I had windows 8 pro / IE 10 installed on my laptop. Lately..I've just been using google chrome browser, things are 'normal' with it.
Have just downloaded Windows 8.1. Although IE11 on desktop snaps open, and Google shows up OK, searches for simple things like Zone Alarm or Avast anti-virus say can't be connected despite trouble shooter saying the net is configured OK. In fact no searches seem to work through Google.
Direct links to various web sites like Java work OK which confirms the net is set up right.
Are there known issues with Google and Microsoft?
Upgraded my asus vivotab smart to windows 8.1 at the weekend. Works great accept google search results do not appear correctly. They are all squeezed in to the bottom of the page for some reason.
All other web pages I regularly look at appear to be fine.
When I open Chrome on my desktop, Windows 8 opens up a new window to view Chrome. How can I open chrome like how Windows 7 does it? I want to be able to open Chrome and Microsoft Word and view them both side by side.

The error message says "Internet explorer has stopped working" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using my Gmail account with the Windows 8 Mail App and it was all working fine until I updated it through the store yesterday (I haven't updated it before so I don't know what version of the app I am now using). Today when I try and access my folders I just getting a message saying 'no messages from the last 2 weeks', meaning I cannot access all those useful emails that I have kept on purpose without using gmail through chrome. I have looked through the settings and cannot find if there is a way to change this - is there?
