This new sync tab feature in IE11 is handy. But it's also a bit annoying. I have about 7 or 8 PCs I use frequently and I re-install the OS all the time. So I end up with orphan machines that appear in IE 11 sync tabs and I can't seem to find a way to remove them. I also noticed that these tabs mysteriously disappeared on some of my machines.
View 5 RepliesOnly just noticed this but have confirmed other PC's exhibit this same behaviour. The tabs on the top line of the browser don't match the order of the preview tabs at the bottom. As you open other sites and open and close tabs sometimes they do manage to line up and sometimes not....
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I disable Flash through "Manage Add-ons" I find that I can still play some YouTube videos (I assume using html5) but when the video ends my screen goes blank for a second and then the computer goes to the login screen. When I log back in all the applications that were open are no longer open. Is there any way to disable Flash in IE10 and not have this behavior?

One artifact that remains i the manage add-ons window pops up every time ie starts. I cannot find anything to fix this behavior. I have looked in the registry and found nothing. I would also like to find out how to completely remove unwanted entries in the manage add-ons windows. there should be a way to do this. I keep hearing of procedures to do this and all the options mentioned are always greyed out or never work. Hey Microsoft STOP GREYING OUT NEEDED FUNCTIONS!!! A friend installed a Google calendar on her Desktop which is not linked to her Gmail account except for login purposes, that is the Calendar is not available if you go to the Gmail account on the web.
Is there some way to sync the Google Calendar with the WLM (Desktop) Calendar?
I love how Metro IE11 works now in Windows 8.1. I was using a reddit app, opened an article, and it spawn a separate window for the IE browser to read a link. Works great. But one day, when it launched the IE browser, I was hearing a video that was completely unrelated to the link.
So I bring up the tabs and I had like 50 tabs open! When I close the IE browser that spawns from reddit or from a newsreader like News Bento, I just drag the app to the bottom of the screen to put away IE. That didn't terminate the tabs. So it was tedious to close each tab independently.
is there a way to close all tabs immediately?
The Manage Addon window in IE10 is not displaying correctly and there seems to be no way to resize the two panes that are not showing correctly. Do you think this would be a registry problem or do you think a reinstall of IE10 would override whatever setting is causing the window to display improperly. Would an uninstall and reinstall of IE10 be necessary or the best course?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using Flash Player within IE10 in 8, audio and video synch is fine at standard small screen, but when I go to full screen they do not synch. The video is behind timing with the audio. It looks as though the video skips now and then trying to catch up with the audio. I dual boot with 7 and do not have a problem with Flash within IE10 there, so I'm assuming it's not hardware. This happens on any site using Flash.
All the settings in both Flash Players are the same. The only difference is that my 7 OS is 32 bit with 32bit Flash whereas my 8 OS is 64bit with 32bit Flash.
Why can I not sync my Global Address Book? When I add info via active directory, it updates in the GAB, not in the contact list, and the contact list is what shows on the phone....and is what we need to update as we add info!!!!! Why isn't this possible? That isn't "syncing" that is just refreshing what is already there! We have around 500 employees, and having to log into each of there emails and add new contacts manually is NOT ok.
How do I sync my droid with exchange's GAB? Like I said, I can copy all of the GAB to contacts, but that doesn't do anything? It doesn't update in there when you add or change information..
I am extremely new to Windows 8. I was handed over a work computer today that runs Windows 8, the previous employee set everything up using her personal email information (IE: the email from the main email envelope is her email, and the calendar feature would add details to her personal calendar not the one for work). She is not set up as a user on the computer at all, but her personal details are linked into the system.
I have searched the documents everywhere and have gone through settings for the two applications trying to work out how to remove her personal information from the system and replace it with the work information. She doesn't need to see the new schedules or the times that our employees will be out on different jobs.
Is there a way for me to go in and remove her personal information and replace it with the information for the company? I could sit and question her ethic as an employee for hours as to why she would do it this way, but honestly if her ethic was great, I wouldn't be taking this over at this point. I just need to ensure that the computer is set up for the business not for someone's personal email and calendar and ensure she isn't getting notifications of our future work schedules.
I am running Windows 8.1 and IE 11. When I have multiple tabs open and click the X in the upper right hand corner I get an option that asks me if I want to CLOSE ALL TABS - CLOSE CURRENT TAB. I always want to close just one tab. How can I suppress the display of the Close All Tabs - Close Current Tab question and still be able to close just one tab?

Notifications are turned on for all mail and mails are downloaded as they arrive. But I'm not getting notifications for the default account. Might I add that synchronization is not automatic and I need to open the app to get the new mail. The second account works okay, though.

I did not update anything at all. My automatic update setting is off. I have synced it a lot of times. It shows my emails from all other folders but not from drafts. And it is not like it can't do it. Until yesterday, I was being able to view the drafts seamlessly. It just happened now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using my Gmail account with the Windows 8 Mail App and it was all working fine until I updated it through the store yesterday (I haven't updated it before so I don't know what version of the app I am now using). Today when I try and access my folders I just getting a message saying 'no messages from the last 2 weeks', meaning I cannot access all those useful emails that I have kept on purpose without using gmail through chrome. I have looked through the settings and cannot find if there is a way to change this - is there? Or can I un-install the update and just go back to using the old version, and if so, how would I do this.

View 9 Replies View RelatedJust updated to Update 1 on Win 8.1 on two machines. When I open the PC Settings App from Start Screen or Taskbar all the options are ok except PC and devices. When I select this on the app menu the app crashes back to the desktop.I suspect it's the new Drive Manager in that menu option. Other machine works fine with this option.

I set up there talktalk E mail accounts in the Windows 8 Native E mail client from the Mail tile at the start screen without any problem. All worked fine until recently when in order to download an app they had to register an Outlook E Mail address. Not sure if they had updates applied as well but they had to start logging on to the PC at boot up every time using a password. In an effort to resolve this they restored the PC to an earlier time which has cured the logging on issue (ie no password required) but when they access the Mail tile from the start screen it is an outlook E Mail account that comes up. I have tried without success logging into this outlook account and then adding the talktalk accounts. I even tried using my own account but could not add that either.
All they want is to click the Mail tile and get there talktalk accounts to come up just as before (no outlook or hotmail or anything else). Is there a way to reset the E Mail client/tile in Windows 8 back to what came with PC so that I could set it up just as I did when the PC was purchased. They are running Windows 8 and do not wish to restore back to factory settings as they have a few other bits and pieces of software installed.If they upgrade to Windows 8.1 will they be forced into using a password to log on every time ?
Having problem with moving mails automatic from in folder to specified folders by me in Microsoft Outlook 2013.
Have made rules or filters (using a Swedish version) but it wont move them automatic. I have to move them manually every time.
I am using the mail app in Windows 8 fine on one laptop (Windows 8.1), but on my other one the program has started to just close in the middle of reading a mail, or when I click the delete mail button.

Is there any way to connect my Gmail account to the Mail Metro App without having to use my Live ID? I have absolutely no desire to tie all my stuff to a MS Live ID. Just want to be able to check my mail.
I have already installed Skype desktop to get around the Live ID crap for the metro version, and I will install Thunderbird if needed, but if I can find a way around it I will use the built in mail client.
I check Reliability Monitor from time to time. I was taken aback today to find Windows Mail creating a critical event and appearing as 'Stopped working' each day for the past six days. There are five listings on day one, five on day two, two on day three, one on day four, two on day five and two on day six. 'Check for a solution' provides no solution. I do have to close and reopen Windows Mail on some occasions when it is stuck at 'Connecting'. The second attempt usually results in Windows Mail receiving mail. That, however, has been a situation that I have lived with for a long time and I am unaware that it caused a critical event in the past. Now, it seems, a critical event is created each time I open Windows Mail. Please move this to 'Performance and Maintenance' if more appropriate.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS G75 - installed a new Samsung SSD to replace a Kingston SSD + clean install W 8.1 (new product key) + updates.
Trying to login to my company email (they use gmail) through secureauth - the username is accepted and this brings up the password box, but when the password is entered, the password box disappears and all I am left with is the username box. Repeating the process gives the same result.
With the W 8.1 on the old SSD, there was no problem.
On a desktop with W 8.1 there is also no problem. The internet options seem the same on both computers.
Everything else works fine, no boot problems etc etc.
I have a question for all the wise ones here, what is the best email program to use besides the windows mail that is installed in windows 8.1 I really do not like it, also how do I disable that program from checking emails.
