View 4 RepliesWhen I open Chrome on my desktop, Windows 8 opens up a new window to view Chrome. How can I open chrome like how Windows 7 does it? I want to be able to open Chrome and Microsoft Word and view them both side by side.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on the main/first page and put my cursor on a link (cursor won't turn into hand) then when I click it just started saying Opp's then top left circle spins then goes to a page to download something I don't want or bogus.
Another big problem, certain words will be highlighted and a window pop's up (different windows) and want allow me to go to the webpage I want.
This has been happening sense I purchased my new computer wit Win.8
Example: the words on the page highlighted is where I want to go, but a small window pops up and says Best cities to work or Free Local Job Search. Its has a icon to close the windows but when I do it will go to another download type page.
Is there a setting in IE or Firefox to turn that problem OFF ? See on this page there IS NOT a word that is highlighted and what I click I go to.
In IE 11, if I click on a link on a page, then click the back arrow to leave that page, and go back to the original page, it takes me to the top of the original page, rather than were I was on that page. I think there must be a setting that controls this, but I can't find it.

When reading an email in the windows 8.1 mail app, if the sender of the email has typed a url it should come up us a direct link to be opened in your default browser...right? mine does not, i have taken a screenshot and attached it to this thread
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried all different ways to do this but it is not working for me. I want to send a link in an email a clickable one it also does not work in copy and paste , [URL] ..... this is what i want to send ....

If I'm using Chrome and the "email this page" feature or using IE 10 and using the "emial with windows live", neither of them sends a clickable link. Why not? Is this fixable?
IE 11 is slow and tells me this page can not be displayed after clicking on a link. after I click on the link again it usually opens up. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 clicks to open the page.
I have used Malware bytes, but have no malware. I think it started after May 5th. Did we get an update on May 6th that could have caused that?
With a website opened on the desktop that I want to send the 'link' or 'page' by email, I go to 'Page', (top right), but both the 'Send page by email' & the 'Send link by email' are greyed-out. They won't even work if I select/highlight the page first. Why? How do you normally accomplish the same thing with a site from the 'Start screen'?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on a website that has a link that says"Contact me" or other such words and I click on that link this is what it brings up. I think it started happening since I've installed Windows 8. The only way I can contact the person is to right-click and select "view source" where I can see the email address and then contact the person using that address.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI noticed when I send a web page to anyone using Windows default mail program (Outlook) it will send the page as a Url address and not a clickable link. Is there a way to change this? Or should I change defalt mail handler? When I send page links from Chrome or my g-mail account it always sends the page as a link.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs the only way to send a site's 'page or link' by email opened on the Start screen is to select the 'View on desktop' & send it from there?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Windows 8, the I.E. went to hiding, so I retrieved and pin it to task bar. Now, after I open it, it closes right away when I try to go onto a bookmark. The error message says "Internet explorer has stopped working" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe Manage Addon window in IE10 is not displaying correctly and there seems to be no way to resize the two panes that are not showing correctly. Do you think this would be a registry problem or do you think a reinstall of IE10 would override whatever setting is causing the window to display improperly. Would an uninstall and reinstall of IE10 be necessary or the best course?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen ever I click a mailto link in either Chrome, IE, Firefox and Opera it opens up a new chrome browser window. Before I installed windows 8 I had it opening up Outlook 2010 new email, now it opens up a new Chrome browser window.
How do I change it in windows 8 to when I click a link in any browser to open up Outlook 2010 new email as it did before?
(I don't use IE a lot ) I run a completely updated Windows 8.1 (home?) edition operating system so the browser I take it should be fully updated already. I have tried opening it directly from the local directory for it and also running as an administrator and neither would make it open.
There is no error message and there is no direct indication in the processes currently running under task manager that shows that it has booted up and is just not responding.
I thought maybe I could uninstall it but... then I look under program and features and I didn't see any relative program to uninstall for it. I remember a few years back uninstalling like version six or seven under a xp operating machine but that was ages ago.
since a week ago i can't open any hyperlink on my windows 8.1 mail app.
i connected my google account to it, everything worked fine before.
i fount a possible solution to delete CLSID folder from registry but that didn't do the trick.
Why do some links to images not open in the browser instead prompting the user to save/open the file?
Example: [URL] .....
How can I have such links open in the browser?
I have had this problem with all 3 versions of Explorer. If I open a website, as an example RUN: bing.com the pages open full screen. If I use the shortcut on the desktop it opens short about 2 inches on the bottom and another weird thing is that I have a PC right next to this one, the page will open short about 2 inches on the right side of the screen. I have had to resort to Firefox and I have no problems at all.
I am running Win 8.1 on one machine and Win 8 on the other. I had the same problems with XP and Win 7.
Google Chrome opens fine when I've just started it. If I close it accidentally or forgot something and have to reopen it after I close it, it will not open. It's almost as if it isn't closing properly but when I check task manager it does not show it running. I have to wait 20 - 30 min. to open it again. I've reinstalled and it still does this. I've tried to find tech support for a free product on Google Chrome sites, but they only support free the products you purchase.

All I am getting is continuous circling of java after entering my login details. In the laptop where it is getting opened, after entering my login details, I straightaway get a pop up of security warning of do you want to run this application - but not in where it is not getting opened. After entering my login credentials, Java message just keeps circling. I compared java in both laptops, microsoft silverlight package, adobe flash, shockplayer, internet options, firefox options but still unable to proceed further after entering my login details. OS is Windows 8.1,jave installed is latest both 32 and 64 bits.Java verify is detecting java working fine, java settings shows it is enabled in browser I already uninstalled anti-virus and tried but still no success so re-installed antivirus.
I have 8.1 with IE11 which will not run or open. In desktop mode the icon lights up for about 3 seconds, no window ever shows up and then the icon goes back to normal. In metro mode it spins and maximizes on the screen but then goes away before anything else happens. I've tried several things to get this fixed including...
netsh winsock reset at DOSremoving IE11 and adding back via Turning on or off Windows features in "Programs and Features"Removing any and all AV or Firewall software.Applying all Windows updatesResetting IE11 using its own reset button in "Internet Options"
Other browsers such as Chrome seem to work fine. I can ping by IP and name so I don't think its IP stack related.
When opening any browser on my pc, I get a band of white across the page with the following message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program does not have a valid digital signature that verifies the publisher."
Name: C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlashFlashUtil_ActiveX.exe. Then there is a choice of 'Yes' in grey, or 'No' in blue. If I click on the 'No' box 3 times the band disappears. The string leads to an 'Adobe Flash Player Utility'.
If I open the box it gives me an alternative to 'Quit' or 'Uninstall'. When I 'Uninstall', it states that the program has been successfully uninstalled. However, the string is still there and the same problem exists when opening a browser.
When I right click on the last part of the string & select 'Delete', a box titled 'File Access Denied'. 'You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file.
I decided to try a new network card due to problems with my onboard one, got a TP-Link TG-3269 after reading various reviews. most saying it installed in Win 7 with no problems or driver needed.Disabled onboard lan in bios, rebooted with new card in place, but card not recognised in device manager. Surprisingly, when I started windows troubleshooter it started working, it had reused my old onboard drivers even though it's in a PCI slot. but still not recognised in device manager.
