View 9 RepliesI have windows 8.1 it was working fine for a good while but now web pages can be slow loading or dont load at all, if i hit F5 some pages will then load.
I have googled this problem & tried many different possible solutions but none have worked, this problem happens at home on my broadband & at work so i dont think its anything to do with the router.
I have ran malwarebytes & avast many times, the 1st run of malwarebytes it found 2 objects but since they have been removed everything has been clear.
Kept ignoring prompts to upgrade to 8.1. Finally went ahead and did it and now neither IE or Chrome will load web pages. The programs themselves open but nothing happens. Not even a "can't load page" message. I am connected to the internet and I tried a few apps that seemed to work as normal. I've found this question online and followed a few instructions that didn't work. One worked for a minute but it went back. I'm not super tech savvy so I don't even know what it did, just followed some command prompts. I contacted Samsung support and they had me turn off IE under "turn windows features on or off" and turn it back on. It worked. For about two minutes. Now nothing again.
View 4 Replies View Related I have a problem with my new laptop i have recently bought. Dell Inspiron 7537 15inch OS 8.1 (after upgrade from 8.0) 16gb RAM, Samsung SSD SM 841 256gb. Lets go to the point - When i try to load a page, usually i have to refresh that page, because i get an error like "No connection" or sometimes it loads only HTML code. Almost always i cant see any pictures in Facebook, only broken links. Same is happening to the ads(if i am lucky enogh to see anything except html code). Its happening with all browsers i have: IE, CHROME, MOZZILA. I will upload pictures if needed.
Things i have done:
I installed a malware anrivirus, and performed a cleanup.
I disabled all "Startup" features from Task manager.
I started the laptop in Safe mode with network - it didn't work.
I updated the WiFi drivers, from intel website.
I reinstalled the browsers, and cleaned all ( history, cache, cookies, etc ).
I've mentioned the model of the laptop because i saw that many users from Dell and Samsung were claiming about same issue. I didnt notice if the browsers were working fine in OS 8 because i updated it immediately. I think a software or other is corrupting the connection. I have a phone and other laptop, and they are working fine with my home WiFi.
I forgot to say that i bought the laptop with OS 8 installed and i dont have a windows disc for repair. Is it necessary that?
Web pages freeze some of the time while loading. I have to use "refresh" in order to get the page to load totally. This freeze problem only occurs while I am on the internet and does not take place when I am running programs other than on the internet. It happens when using either IE or Chrome.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy browser of choice is Firefox but I have the same problems in Chrome also. First a little background. I'm running Windows 8.1 for the last month and up until 1 week ago I had Roadrunner light with download speeds around 9 to 10 Mbps. Last week I upgraded to higher speed Roadrunner and am now getting download speeds of around 35 Mbps consistently.
Now my problem: Several forum pages that I frequent USED to load instantly and when clicking on a post would load instantly. Now certain pages may take up to 45 seconds to 1 minute or sometimes not at all. This happens most of the time but not all the time. This happens whether I'm using Firefox, Chrome or IE. I have cleared cookies, history, search, cache in an attempt to solve this problem.
I have Windows 8.1 - Google Chrome will not load pages at all.I bought this computer brand new about 1 month ago. Google chrome browser was working great until the day before yesterday - all of a sudden, will no longer load pages.- am overwhelmed with all of the posts about 8.1 issues.

I am not able to load any pages using Firefox or Internet explorer. I have tried resetting my windsock and itp and it still won't work. I've also tried deleting any 3rd party firewalls I had but that didn't work either. I just got this laptop a week ago too so ya.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, Internet pages and emails load slowly. After reporting this to a 2nd level MS Support person, he still hasn't fixed it though he has spent a lot of time on it so far. I finally Googled about the issue and found that many others were having the same problem. I have heard that disabling IPv6 has corrected the problem. I tried it but I couldn't do the last step to create a new DWord. After upgrading, I installed the latest drivers for the motherboard.t's about like the days of dial-up modems! Why can't Microsoft resolve this issue soon? I have checked my Internet connection for "speed" and it's not the problem. The only thing I changed was the OS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen ever I click a mailto link in either Chrome, IE, Firefox and Opera it opens up a new chrome browser window. Before I installed windows 8 I had it opening up Outlook 2010 new email, now it opens up a new Chrome browser window.
How do I change it in windows 8 to when I click a link in any browser to open up Outlook 2010 new email as it did before?
(I don't use IE a lot ) I run a completely updated Windows 8.1 (home?) edition operating system so the browser I take it should be fully updated already. I have tried opening it directly from the local directory for it and also running as an administrator and neither would make it open.
There is no error message and there is no direct indication in the processes currently running under task manager that shows that it has booted up and is just not responding.
I thought maybe I could uninstall it but... then I look under program and features and I didn't see any relative program to uninstall for it. I remember a few years back uninstalling like version six or seven under a xp operating machine but that was ages ago.
since a week ago i can't open any hyperlink on my windows 8.1 mail app.
i connected my google account to it, everything worked fine before.
i fount a possible solution to delete CLSID folder from registry but that didn't do the trick.
I have had this problem with all 3 versions of Explorer. If I open a website, as an example RUN: bing.com the pages open full screen. If I use the shortcut on the desktop it opens short about 2 inches on the bottom and another weird thing is that I have a PC right next to this one, the page will open short about 2 inches on the right side of the screen. I have had to resort to Firefox and I have no problems at all.
I am running Win 8.1 on one machine and Win 8 on the other. I had the same problems with XP and Win 7.
When I open Chrome on my desktop, Windows 8 opens up a new window to view Chrome. How can I open chrome like how Windows 7 does it? I want to be able to open Chrome and Microsoft Word and view them both side by side.

View 4 Replies View RelatedGoogle Chrome opens fine when I've just started it. If I close it accidentally or forgot something and have to reopen it after I close it, it will not open. It's almost as if it isn't closing properly but when I check task manager it does not show it running. I have to wait 20 - 30 min. to open it again. I've reinstalled and it still does this. I've tried to find tech support for a free product on Google Chrome sites, but they only support free the products you purchase.

All I am getting is continuous circling of java after entering my login details. In the laptop where it is getting opened, after entering my login details, I straightaway get a pop up of security warning of do you want to run this application - but not in where it is not getting opened. After entering my login credentials, Java message just keeps circling. I compared java in both laptops, microsoft silverlight package, adobe flash, shockplayer, internet options, firefox options but still unable to proceed further after entering my login details. OS is Windows 8.1,jave installed is latest both 32 and 64 bits.Java verify is detecting java working fine, java settings shows it is enabled in browser I already uninstalled anti-virus and tried but still no success so re-installed antivirus.
I have 8.1 with IE11 which will not run or open. In desktop mode the icon lights up for about 3 seconds, no window ever shows up and then the icon goes back to normal. In metro mode it spins and maximizes on the screen but then goes away before anything else happens. I've tried several things to get this fixed including...
netsh winsock reset at DOSremoving IE11 and adding back via Turning on or off Windows features in "Programs and Features"Removing any and all AV or Firewall software.Applying all Windows updatesResetting IE11 using its own reset button in "Internet Options"
Other browsers such as Chrome seem to work fine. I can ping by IP and name so I don't think its IP stack related.
When opening any browser on my pc, I get a band of white across the page with the following message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program does not have a valid digital signature that verifies the publisher."
Name: C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlashFlashUtil_ActiveX.exe. Then there is a choice of 'Yes' in grey, or 'No' in blue. If I click on the 'No' box 3 times the band disappears. The string leads to an 'Adobe Flash Player Utility'.
If I open the box it gives me an alternative to 'Quit' or 'Uninstall'. When I 'Uninstall', it states that the program has been successfully uninstalled. However, the string is still there and the same problem exists when opening a browser.
When I right click on the last part of the string & select 'Delete', a box titled 'File Access Denied'. 'You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file.
I have used Google Chrome browser for years. Suddenly, it crashed. I uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. Uninstalled with RevoUnistaller and deleted registry entries and leftover files. Reinstalled several times. No luck. IE, Firefox, etc. all work fine. Have 64bit computer with Windows 8.1 fully updated. Tried stable versions, beta, etc. Crashed when I try to open.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI got a HP Envy m6 Sleekbook laptop about three months ago. I installed Firefox and Chrome right away, although I used Firefox almost exclusively.
After about a month, Firefox just stopped working. I would click the icon, and it would light up (and the blue circle would appear over the cursor) as if it was about to open, but after a few seconds it stopped loading and the icon went back to normal, as if I had never clicked it. It just kind of... gave up. I restarted the computer and tried opening it from a different shortcut, and then directly from the file, but the problem persisted.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox twice, but it didn't solve the issue. Finally, I abandoned Firefox and switched to using Chrome.
Now, after using Chrome without a hitch for almost two months, Chrome has spontaneously started exactly the same behavior- BUT now I can open Firefox.
I'd really like to keep using Chrome, since I finally had it set up the way I like (I have quite a few bookmarks and quirky little preferences).
