Jun 21, 2013Is the only way to send a site's 'page or link' by email opened on the Start screen is to select the 'View on desktop' & send it from there?

Browsers/Mail :: Sending Web Page As Link In Windows 8 Email Program
Mar 23, 2014I noticed when I send a web page to anyone using Windows default mail program (Outlook) it will send the page as a Url address and not a clickable link. Is there a way to change this? Or should I change defalt mail handler? When I send page links from Chrome or my g-mail account it always sends the page as a link.

Aug 22, 2013When I'm on the main/first page and put my cursor on a link (cursor won't turn into hand) then when I click it just started saying Opp's then top left circle spins then goes to a page to download something I don't want or bogus.
Another big problem, certain words will be highlighted and a window pop's up (different windows) and want allow me to go to the webpage I want.
This has been happening sense I purchased my new computer wit Win.8
Example: the words on the page highlighted is where I want to go, but a small window pops up and says Best cities to work or Free Local Job Search. Its has a icon to close the windows but when I do it will go to another download type page.
Is there a setting in IE or Firefox to turn that problem OFF ? See on this page there IS NOT a word that is highlighted and what I click I go to.

May 12, 2014IE 11 is slow and tells me this page can not be displayed after clicking on a link. after I click on the link again it usually opens up. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 clicks to open the page.
I have used Malware bytes, but have no malware. I think it started after May 5th. Did we get an update on May 6th that could have caused that?

Jun 18, 2013With a website opened on the desktop that I want to send the 'link' or 'page' by email, I go to 'Page', (top right), but both the 'Send page by email' & the 'Send link by email' are greyed-out. Mar 27, 2014When I'm on a website that has a link that says"Contact me" or other such words and I click on that link this is what it brings up. I think it started happening since I've installed Windows 8. The only way I can contact the person is to right-click and select "view source" where I can see the email address and then contact the person using that address.

Aug 8, 2014Likes to use the Windows 8 Start Screen that has all the tiles on it. Normally, she clicks on the "Mail" icon to get to her email, but now when she clicks on the icon it doesn't go to her email and instead it goes straight to her desktop. I tried clicking another icon; the "weather" one, and it too goes to the desktop. She told me she downloaded a couple games from iWin a few days ago and I noticed a new toolbar in her browser so I tried disabling that, but no change. I've checked what the default browser is, Internet Explorer (what she normally uses). I also tried making Chrome the default browser but still no change.

Jan 8, 2014I mentioned not so long back that the chrome browser was closing after being opened and then getting a report that Chrome did not close properly! So after many weeks of this, I decided to return to firefox, in spite of the so called spyware.
Just now, I opened Firefox to do a Google search for somewhere, and - it shut down. When I reopened it, it opened on the page that had crashed. Google search.
So, it either not just chrome, or its a google thing?

May 11, 2013Windows 8 Mail seems to have many problems. When I connect my Hotmail account, I only see unread counts on the Inbox - not for any of my folders until I actually open them in Mail. Is this expected behavior??? Sure makes someone with a lot of folders unhappy when first setting up Mail... Will it sync and update the unread counts as new message come in?

And speaking of GMail - many folders just don't import. I set the import setting for back to the end of time - but they don't import. Same issues as with Hotmail - unread counts are not updated until a folder is opened - so if a folder name is not imported and thus can't be opened...then...
Also, I delete messages in Windows 8 - and the Deleted folder - but they don't get deleted from the GMail server. If afterwards I execute a sync in Windows 8 Mail - the messages come back! All told, it makes this mail client unusable.
Windows 8 - Establishing Default Email Program When Sending Images?
May 24, 2013When I am at a web site that contains .JPG images, I can right click on the image to forward it to a third party as an email attachment. I have done this in the past using Vista. However, I receive an error message, saying that I do not have a default email program established, and that I should set one up as a default program.
My Windows 8 laptop came with a Mail email program established. I used Control Panel to verify that this program exists for default email applications. Is there something else that I need to establish in order to enable Mail to act as a default program?

Aug 25, 2014I'm running Windows 8.1. and recently I tried to launch Internet Explorer (11) from the start menu. It launched Firefox. I ran a search from the start menu for Internet Explorer found it and clicked. Again Firefox opened instead of IE. I clicked on an icon on my desktop set up to open a website in IE regardless of browser preferences. It opened Firefox and went to the homepage I have set in Firefox not to the URL I had set.
Opening IE by browsing to to C:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe. workes just fine. Creating a desktop shortcut directly to the exe works fine. I played around with the associated programs for internet and even with everything defaulting to IE it would still open Firefox when clicking on the IE Tile on the start menu. I uninstalled/reinstalled IE11 with no change.
So I then uninstalled Firefox. Now clicking on the start icon for IE it brings up a box asking me something about an exe with a checkbox (can't remember exactly) and below that Internet explorer or I can choose other down below. If I chose IE it brought up another window asking what I wanted to do with iexplore.exe. Save/ Save As / Save and Run. None of the options opened IE. IE at this point still runs by going directly to the exe in Program Files.
Logged off as that user and logged back on as a different user and ie works just fine from that profile.
I'm guessing something in my registry is hosed, how I can repair this?

Dec 31, 2013I cannot remove my Windows Live email account so whenever I want to send email, I had to click on the "Gmail" tab first then compose email and I don't want this because it's somehow not efficient.
I use the default Windows 8.1 Mail client but I never used my Windows Live account.

Jul 12, 2013Ever since I installed Windows 8, I have had no issues, except just one.
I notice when trying to log into facebook, the page will just hang there and pretends I never pressed the login button. And when I do finally get into facebook, and I try to click on the groups I am apart of, it just seems to hang on loading the groups, it just doesnt seem to load any pages.
This happens on every browser I install. However all browsers act completely normal on any other web pages I go to.
I have jumped onto my Windows 7 computer and again I have no issues whatsoever.
I agree it would be weird that its just happening with facebook, however its the only website that just continually causes problems on my Windows 8 machine.
