View 3 Replieshaving issue with SkyDrive turning "Access all files offline" option OFF automatically in Windows 8.1 Pro? This happens almost daily, sometimes within few hours of turning it on.
I manage a lots of PCs, and this problem is not on just one PC, this happens on a lot of PCs randomly. All these PCs have separate Microsoft accounts.
i'm looking for is 100% available offline, all the time. Never had an issue before this integration of SkyDrive with Windows 8.1.
I've been trying to change my power options. I go into Power Saver, "change plan settings," and try to change the "On battery" setting from "Put the computer to sleep: 3 minutes" to "Put the computer to sleep: Never." (I want to make this change because I have a Dell XPS, and it can have difficulties waking up from sleep.)
I've made this change a number of times, but after a while my computer simply reverts back to the 3 minute setting on its own. So, I leave the machine alone for a few minutes, I come back, and it's asleep...even though I thought I had changed the setting to 30 minutes. And in fact, I *had* changed the setting to 30 minutes; the computer is somehow reverting to 3 minutes on its own.
Use of the Power Saver Setting in Windows 8 lowers my pc temperature (at idle) by at least 6 degrees. Using this setting, my pc now idles at 27 degrees C. When I use High Performance, my idle temp is usually at least 33 degrees, or more. For those who have problems with their pc's running warm, this is just one of the things I've found which works for temperature lowering. My biggest impact on lowering temp was air cleaning the pc case interior - getting all the fuzzy balls out...... At one point, my idle temp was in the 50 to 60 degree range and I figured my disk was failing. After checking for a possible problem, I found much of the problem was my own maintenance procedure failure. So, if your pc seems to be running rather high, look around for the simple solutions - clean pc, use power settings, etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 8.1 and a problem with my apps. When I try to open weather, finance and other apps, They show their start-up screen and in a couple of seconds they're gone - I am brought to my metro screen... Tried to reinstall the apps, but hadn't got any luck...
But wait, it get interesting: Even though the weather app crashes, I have a live tile option on for that app, and it shows me weather nicely.

I'm using Windows 8.1, and I have accidentally deleted the SkyDrive App Tile and am trying to find a way to restore it.
What happened was that I deleted the SkyDrive shortcut in the start menu, only to realise that doing this also deleted the SkyDrive App Tile in Metro View.
Is there a way to restore the SkyDrive App Tile? I have tried searching for SkyDrive under Apps but it isn't there, presumably because it is integrated into Windows 8.1. I also found the SkyDrive menu that the SkyDrive App Tile is a shortcut to under PC Settings, but it doesn't look like it's possible to make a shortcut to it directly from Metro View.
I have three machines running Windows 8.1 Update 1 and for some reason one of the machines does not like OneDrive. When I first boot the system the OneDrive Cloud appears in the tray. However, as soon as I hover the mouse over it to see the sync status the Cloud Icon goes away and I think I get the SkyDive 1000 error in the Event Log. I don't know what I did to screw it up on this machine
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that Skydrive live tile does not work after upgrading to 8.1.
Prior to 8.1, Skydrive was live, that is it would display the contents of your folder, especially photos. Now, after 8.1, it doesn't work.
So skydrive live tile not working under 8.1?
How can I delete the SkyDrive Desktop program, I try but it keeps saying it's open.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn January I bought a Dell laptop with Windows 8. I recently upgraded to 8.1. Now most app tiles have an x on the right hand side of them, and I cannot access PC settings, the app store, and most other apps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend recently bought a Windows 8 (Pro) Tablet and I suggested that she should use skydrive, but there are two unexpected behaviours:
1)On the Mordern UI I try to access files saved in the skydrive, but this only works with an internet connection.Without I only got an error/warning message that I need a connection. Why there are no data sored offline? This is a no go!How can I change this?
2)On the Desktop I don't found the folder where to store the skydrive data.I think this is a problem in connection with no (1).
When I start to type say "google" or anything in the Windows store searchbox it goes to the Metro screen?
Closing the store...
Basically I cant use search apps in-store?
Metro Apps/Tiles Keep Refreshing To Default Settings?
I consider myself an advanced user, but I still overlook a lot of things and make mistakes like everyone.
Basically, Windows 8.1's Metro apps and tiles keep refreshing to default settings like it's the first time I've used them or opened them.
When I go to use Skype, it will always ask if it is allowed to use my webcam and microphone. It seems to remember the settings for a while, then forgets them.
I'm assuming this is CCleaner related, but I unchecked all of the settings that correspond to the Metro applications, and this changes nothing.
I'm unsure if I am actually deleting important information Windows needs without knowing. I usually delete logs on top of the usual things to keep my computer clean.
Apparently there's supposed to be a checkbox that reads "Show store apps on taskbar" but that isn't there! I have a version of Windows 8.1 that doesn't have this option. I really liked this feature. This worked for me until I installed a fresh installation of Windows 8.1.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe Troubleshoot icon that should be under the 'Advanced Startup' Option is missing. System is a new Dell Latitude 10 ST2 Tablet running Windows 8. Have access to 9 other identical tablets, all configured the same and they all have the Troubleshoot Option. Have tried multiple methods of getting to "Advanced Startup" display (including Safe mode, 'shutdown /r /o', etc.), but all result in only having the 'Continue', 'Use a Device', and 'Turn Off your PC' options - No Troubleshoot. Other than missing this icon, system is working fine. Shy of wiping the disk and starting over.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPaint Shop Pro 7 is installed on my Windows 8 computer yet when I open a picture it is not an option to open with it.
I prefer this, even though some of the options are newer and better because I know PSP7 inside and out and can maneuver and edit so much better than learning a new program. I don't really want to learn a new program. Why isn't it an option? How can I make it an option?
I have Windows 8.1 Update Enterprise 64-bit.
I noticed that, in the "Change Action Center settings" window, the "Startup Apps" option is disabled. How come? How do I enable it?
I've been doing a little bit of cleaning of my contacts in People & Skype.
I have removed contacts from Skype, and they are gone from Skype. However, when I try and remove said same contact from the Windows 8 People App......there is no option to remove/delete.
Am I stuck with these contacts?
Reinstalled windows 2 times and then made a back up image, which I have to keep reverting to because my PC Settings and Windows apps (which I don't even use) will stop opening and display the "This app can't open please refresh" pop up. This is for windows 8.1, I'm assuming that's cool on this site?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo since upgrading to 8.1, I've been getting messages out the ass about compatibility. One of them is this:
Naturally I know some stuff is gonna have to run in that mode until 8.1's been out for a while, but can I disable this from popping up somehow?
I'm trying to use skydrive on two different computers, but when I made them both with the same MS account they synced stuff to each other, which I do not want.
I made a local account on one computer, but if I want to access Skydrive, it changes that account, back to the main account.
Is there a way to access the same Skydrive account through the app without making them the same user account?
Or is there a way to unsync different computers?
Just recently gotten a new Desktop with Windows 8 pre-installed. I've seen various screenshots and such and tried to google the answer myself but haven't had much luck. When I go to my search (Where you can view apps, settings, files, and such) the settings and files are Entirely blank. Apps seem fine but there's not a single thing in either settings or files. Is this messed up or do I have to manually change something.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just built a secondary new work computer. Unlike my main rig which I just do a fresh install of 8.1. On this one I put Win 7 then Win 8 pro upgrade, once that's done I upgrade to 8.1 through store. thing is once I upgrade to 8.1 I notice pc settings and store wont open, if I click on them they flash and just return to desktop.
I found this solution here:
All Modern apps fail to start after Windows 8.1 upgrade - Microsoft Community
But it only seems to work on admin account.
I noticed same thing is happening with regular user account and the above fix does not work, in fact when I try and set permissions to system in registry step it mentions I get "Unable to set new owner on packages, access is denied"
I can't access anything on my computer that has a app (any metro app) even the settings and the personalise stuff!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve noticed since I installed windows 8.1 none of my apps have been working I figured this is because I left the installer running over night and my laptop might of turned off before finishing the installation so it might be corrupt didnt think much of it at the time since I never really used the apps but now I want to system restore my laptop and the PC settings app wont open like the rest of my apps I click on the tile and it opens for 1-2 seconds then takes me back to the home screen. :C
