I've been doing a little bit of cleaning of my contacts in People & Skype.
I have removed contacts from Skype, and they are gone from Skype. However, when I try and remove said same contact from the Windows 8 People App......there is no option to remove/delete.
Am I stuck with these contacts?
I used to have a Windows phone and attached my Facebook account to the Windows phone on my Microsoft Live account. I have since gotten rid of my Windows phone but then afterwards I permanently deleted my Facebook account. I bought a new pc with Windows 8.1 and logged in with my Microsoft Live account and saw that it kept all of my old contacts from Facebook and there is no way to delete them since I no longer have a Facebook account to delete them.
Is there a way to delete contacts that are associated with Facebook if I no longer have a Facebook account? I have an Xbox Live account associated with my Microsoft Live account so I do not want to delete my Microsoft Live account. Is there any way to delete my contacts without having to delete my Microsoft Live account?
I did a clean install of Windows 8. Of course, before doing the clean install, I backed up all of my data including the "Contacts" folder under my user name. The clean install progressed as expected (I've done clean installs many times previously). When I copied my information back, I also copied the contents of the Contacts folder back.
Now I want to import my contacts into the new People App. I have a live ID and everything seems to be working fine, except I cannot get my contacts imported. I've gone to the contacts folder and exported the contacts as a CSV file (there are only two export options, CSV and vCard). When I go to the People App and try to "import from a file", I get an error message saying my CSV file is NOT a CSV file. Just to make sure I tried all my options, I went back and tried exporting as a vCard file and when I try to import I get an error message saying there is an internal error.
I've searched the net and, from what I can find, I seem to be doing the right thing using a CSV file, but am not getting the end result.
Is there a way of copying my Contacts from an iPhone 5 to the People app in windows 8.

Is there a way to export the Windows 8.1 Outlook contacts to the Contact list in Elements 12 ? or failing that is there a way to print the contacts so I have a hardcopy reference from which to enter the info into Elements ?
I have done a lot of searching to find a way to add a photo to my manually created contacts, in the People app in W8.
I have come to the conclusion that, for whatever reason, this is not possible.how to do this
I finally managed to import all my contacts from roadrunner and Live to Outlook, but the contacts appear under PEOPLE. How do I get them to the address book so that when I click TO: to send an email the contacts appear?????
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just noticed my contacts from my Live account are not the same as the ones shown in my Windows 8 mail app (People). Looking closer at the properties in my phone, I noticed that some say Hotmail and other say Verizon Backup Assistant Plus.
My question is how do I get all the ones backed up by Verizon but included in my Live account so show up on my desk top(Hotmail Type)? How can I convert the contact type from Verizon to Live?
I have 2 contacts listed in Windows Live Mail that can't be deleted....all other contacts can be deleted OK.
The 2 contacts are marked as Favourites and originally come from my Skype account.... how they came to be in my email contacts list.
How I can remove them from my email contacts list without removing them from Skype also.

For more than a week now, the above situation have been occurring. I have "scoured" the web and tried a lot of "solutions" and none as at yet have normalized my situation.
I am suspecting that I might need a registry solution, since I cannot refresh my installation- I upgraded to win 8 from win 7 online.
Also, the Skype app crashes almost as soon as it finishes loading and returns to the start menu. But, there is a sign it is still running and whenever you click on it, it trips off again.
I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, ran the apps troubleshooters many times, checked that the time service is running, synchronized this and that, etc to no avail.
My Mail Live tile do not have the option to turn on/off live update but the Calendar and People tiles have it yet none is updating.
This has only started recently when trying to reply to an email from the desktop or send a new email from the people icon, I start to type several words of the message, press the space bar to type the next word and the screen changes (flips back to show the icons) and the message or reply disappears.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI found a registry trick that is supposed to add an option to "delete on reboot" when you right click a file. To allow you to schedule files to be deleted when the computer restarts (incase they are currently in use and cant be). The registry edit looks like this:

I've sync'd my google contacts with the people contacts in 8.1. On initial setup everything transferred ok. To test the link I then added a new contact in google to see if it would sync with the people contacts. So far it hasn't. How often does the people app update with google?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 8.1!!! Set up all email addresses in Internet Explorer in mail.google.com > Contacts. Wanted people in People app to be listed alphabetically so found I had to place the last name in the first name Google 'block' and the first name in the last name 'block' on mail.google.com That's OK. All contacts in the People app had their Skype info included. However, I added a Skype contact (for which I already had entered an email address) after I did the above but it didn't show up in the People app until the next day.
The problem was that now, this contact had two entries in the People app (one had only the email address and the other had the email address and the Skype info. The entry with the Skype info is titled by the Proper Name. The entry with an email address only was also listed in the People app - last name first. But now, I had two entries with the same name.
I tried to correct this by trying to delete the Name with only the email address (in the people app, it is now listed by its' email address, not its' Proper Name due to my attemp to correct the duplication. Couldn't do it - don't know why. So I went back into Google contacts and tried to change the 'duplication.' Ended up with a duplicate again - except that the duplicate (which I want to delete) is listed in the People app by its' email address - not its' Proper Name' like all the other contacts. Also, this entry does not have the Skype info associated with it.
I had ubuntu within my windows 7 earlier. Later when i installed windows 8, i formatted the partition ( E: ) in which ubuntu was installed, since the wubi uninstaller was not working. Still when i start my system, it shows ubuntu listed in the boot list. I tried to load it once. It gave an error. There is no error when i select the default windows 8.
Now i checked the boot option in the msconfig as per the thread, but only windows 8 is listed there, no ubuntu. But still it is listed in the boot menu. I tried the disk manager, the only partition without NTFS file system is the one with status "healthy (OEM partition)". I dont know whether its a ubuntu partition. And there is no option to delete it also. No other ubuntu partition. I want to remove the ubuntu boot option from my os list. How to do it?
I have 20 emails that appear to be stuck in the Outbox which I would like to permanently delete, but thre is no remove or delete Tab or option that I can see.
I am running Windows 8 Pro.
I just bought a computer with Windows 8 and I have a little problem.
Skype and Messenger are together now. It's ok. But my Messenger contacts are on Skype AND on the app Messages. And when one of them send me a message I receive it on both Skype and Messages apps.
How can I change this ? Can I juste disable Messages app ?
How do you export contacts from windows 8.1 to outlook 10 . I am having a unique problem regarding this issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 8 and use classic live Messenger 2012, it connects good but all contacts appear offline, trough Windows 8 messaging all contacts ok, connected and talking.
I tried with built in Windows 8 messaging application connected and disconected but same result. If I connect to other account with live Messenger 2012 all works ok, but with the account that is configured like Windows 8 logging account, don't, it connects but all contacts shown offline.
My contacts are in apps. windows 8 and in outlook 2013. I wish to use them on the computer of my friend working with windows vista. I can export my contacts in .pst folder or in common separated values but I don't know how to open and/or use the folder with the contacts in windows vista.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 8.1 and a problem with my apps. When I try to open weather, finance and other apps, They show their start-up screen and in a couple of seconds they're gone - I am brought to my metro screen... Tried to reinstall the apps, but hadn't got any luck...
But wait, it get interesting: Even though the weather app crashes, I have a live tile option on for that app, and it shows me weather nicely.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Troubleshoot icon that should be under the 'Advanced Startup' Option is missing. System is a new Dell Latitude 10 ST2 Tablet running Windows 8. Have access to 9 other identical tablets, all configured the same and they all have the Troubleshoot Option. Have tried multiple methods of getting to "Advanced Startup" display (including Safe mode, 'shutdown /r /o', etc.), but all result in only having the 'Continue', 'Use a Device', and 'Turn Off your PC' options - No Troubleshoot. Other than missing this icon, system is working fine. Shy of wiping the disk and starting over.

Paint Shop Pro 7 is installed on my Windows 8 computer yet when I open a picture it is not an option to open with it.
I prefer this, even though some of the options are newer and better because I know PSP7 inside and out and can maneuver and edit so much better than learning a new program. I don't really want to learn a new program. Why isn't it an option? How can I make it an option?
