A couple of days ago my Windows App Store was working perfectly , until today . For some reason my Windows App Store search function isn't working . Every time I try to search for something it always backs out the start interface. is this a Microsoft error?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know what's wrong but every time I try to play a video in the preinstalled video player it crashes. It'll open the video and even play it but between every 8 to 10 minutes it shuts down and brings me back to the start screen and I have to reopen the video and find where I was. I know it's not the video files themselves because it's happening on every video and I can watch the entire video, I just have to reopen it multiple time and find the spot it shut down on. I could use a different program but it's my favorite video player and I'd like to fix it if I could.

So I was trying to make this game called blacklight retribution run on windows 8 (it crashes for some reason)
And at some point i was installing some radio apps for the metro interface and trying to play the game at the same time (my PC is pretty weak -3.1ghz AMD processor, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd and a radeon 3300 hd integrated graphics card)
So my windows 8.1 (with the latest updates) crashed with the all-cool-new-bluescreen-of-death and after that my windows store app renders its content as if its broken, here's what it looks like:
I restarted windows numerous times, but the windows store app still appears to be "broken" but other apps seem to work as they should.
I am new to windows 8 and I couldn't find a way to restore windows to an earlier point, I know a very straightforward way - reinstall windows 8.1.
I do prefer a local account but when i try to install new apps from app store Windows 8.1 asks me to switch to a microsoft account.
Can I install apps with a local account? and how can i understand if I have a local account or microsoft account.
When I try to download Metro apps from Windows Store, I receive an error message saying "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again later. Error code: 0x80010108".
I Googled it and tried to reset Windows Store cache by wsreset.exe but it didn't work. It occurs to every app I try to install.
Is it possible to download free apps from Windows Store directly (without going through "Windows Store" icon/apps in Windows 8.1? I'm having a problem with Windows Store in my OS, whenever I try it, it just said no network connection, but I can surf no problem using FF/Skype etc. If I can go directly to Windows Store website and download the apps directly from there, it'll be awesome, but everytime I tried, it just goes back to my OS Windows Store.

Moreover, the on and off option from Settings -> Change PC settings -> PC and devices -> Corners and edges -> App switching also seems to be forever gone. (for better understanding I attached image of win 8.1 lock screen slideshow) Then I installed Windows 8.1 (i choose the option to keep old Windows settings, Apps) and I disabled auto update for store apps.
However after updating I found that photos app along with other system apps were updated to latest version and the feature which I loved was missing. When I press slideshow it just shows 1 image per frame.

Out of nowhere, my game (age of empires 2 HD) froze for no reason, my audio cut out completely (was listening to youtube in the background), and my skype crashed, along with videos on youtube not able to be watched anymore (they would sit at 0:00 and never advance). I also tried to launch another game after this, and it crashed immediately. My flash plugin also crashes as well. I have had this computer for about a year, and although I've had bluescreens, I've never had this issue.
So far, I have tried restoring my computer to a previous setting. This works for a few hours, but then it reverts back to the crashing of games/videos/skype.

Since yesterday I've been getting a "The Microsoft Document Cache encountered a problem" error notification. whenever I restart my PC. The weird thing is its happening on both my desktop and laptop.
Anyway when I click on it I get this box...
Clicking the repair button gives me this dialogue box...
And tells me the action can't be completed because another application is using the document and to close all office documents which... 1) - there are no shared or in use items, 2) - all office documents are already closed, and 3) - Restarting the computer and doing this again results in the same error and issue.
If you click cancel, you get this box... and Upload Center basically crashes.
Since yesterday I noticed that the Bing News app crashes after I click on it. When I click on it, there's the normal animation of the tile flipping over and taking over the screen with the news icon in the middle. However, after 2 seconds the app crashes and brings me back to the Metro UI. I can still see the app open in the apps bar on the right but clicking on it keeps the app crashing. The Live tile is working properly but after I reinstalled the app (which didn't resolve the problem) it doesn't work anymore and there is no option to enable Live tile when right-clicking the app.
I didn't install any new drivers, software or updates (except for the Definition update for Windows Defender). All the other apps are working properly. Doing an SFC /scannow didn't find any integrity violations.
My specs:
Windows 8 Pro with Media Center 64x (don't want to install 8.1 just yet)
GTX 660Ti
i5-3570K
8 GB RAM

I tried downloading various apps from the store, but the message I get was I can't install this app.For example, I tried to install PDF Reader 8, and I get error code 0x80070032. Does the error code reveal what the problem is? I am running Windows 8, not Windows 8.1, on the Lenovo IdeaPad.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout three days ago, all new style apps stopped working. I click on the tile, get a deep blue screen, and nothing else. On the left side of the screen, I can see the app as if it is working (just the name of the app, not content), so I can close the window and get back to desktop. The same applies to the STORE app. The only tiles that work, are the links to desktop applications, which open correctly on the desktop. The fault also affects all windows system apps. For example if I search on the start screen for "windows update", I can access "Windows update" as it just opens a window on the desktop, but if I click on "Windows update settings" nothing happens. The same is true with all windows system apps that open in the new start screen system.
I've uninstalled two Microsoft updates that were installed over the past three days, no change. I uninstalled AVAST, no change, so I reinstalled it! I tried restoring the system, but found that I had only one restore, and that was corrupted. Very strange. Without access to many windows system apps, the computer is really limited. The desktop seems to be working OK. I can't refresh the PC, as firstly it is a system app that runs from the start screen, and secondly because I upgraded from win 8 to 8.1 online, this can't be done anyway, as I don't have a disc. I'm really trying to avoid reinstalling windows 8!

But I have realized that, after having uninstalled some of them I didn't like, if I go to "Your Applications" and select "Applications not installed in this computer" I still see them like in a kind of "History" (like in the Internet browsers)

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince the latest Bing News app update came out, that can sync your settings across devices, mine wants to crash shortly after starting it. And this happens on multiple machines. I have managed to get into settings and turn off the sync of settings, turn off reading offline, and still no luck. It crashes every time. This even happens on a machine that just had Windows 8.1 completely reinstalled on it, and on my surface pro tablet which has had windows 8.1 on it for a while.

HP desktop, which is running Win 8.1.
Experiencing issues trying to download game apps from the Microsoft Store. He gets a message stating that the install can not be completed and the error code is 0x80070091.
I used Team Viewer to connect to his and attempted to do several different free games and all of them do the same thing.
I ran Malwarebytes and had some Mindspark pups which we eliminated. Did several of those scans and they have come back fine.
Checked his Windows Updates and there only 3 optional ones, Silverlight, bing bar and something else, can't remember which right now.
Ran the HP assistant to make sure that there were no HP updates that needed to be done.
Then, ran a sfc/scannow and the 1st run through came back with some corrupted stuff and, I guess, it fixed some stuff?
Ran that again earlier today and the log came back much shorter than the 1st run last night.
At this point, I don't know where to proceed from there... I am attaching the log ...

I rarely use Win 8 apps, and run in desktop mode almost exclusively. Was having issues and was suggested I advance the OS to 8.1. That requires Store app. Store app gives a very generic "unable to connect" message with no options. I've done some research here and tried various things to no avail:
-refresh the store app
-a few cmd things
-restart
-turned off McAfee AND windows firewall
Some suggest doing some type of system restore which claims to wipe out all desktop system apps.That seems quite extreme for a program/connectivity issue.
I'm uploading the cmd details as graphics below.
Is there any way to save downloaded Apps from the store? The only option I see is install.

I am having problems getting into the windows store on my wife's acer laptop. When I click on the store tile it goes to full screen for a second but then gives me no option to sign in and no error code, it just reverts back to the desktop tile. When I right click on the tile a small tick appears in the bottom right of the tile but when I go to settings in charms no settings appears for the store.
I have
-installed all the Windows 8 updates and have run the check that they have installed correctly using the check prog and they are good.
-emptied the store cache
-tried turning off my bitdefender av
-checked that I can access my ms account
my computer started glitching everytime I opened the Windows Store or any other metro apps, I immediately found this forum.
I have already followed most the steps on this tutorial, running the troubleshooter many times and restarting after each time.

Here is a screenshot of what happens everytime. I don't know if its clear, but essentially this weird thing happens where it doesn't load, and right off the start the splash icon, if you will, and its little circle loading animation all shift to the top left of the screen, just forever.
My Windows 8 is completely genuine so that's not the problem; when I first bought the computer, it came with Win 8 and the store worked fine. All of a sudden, the Skype app would load but be blank, and all the apps started doing this. I don't know what happened that caused this all.
EDIT: The screen shot was taken, uploaded to paint, and cropped to fit better, so the resolution shown in the picutre caption is not my computer resolution. My native computer resolution is 1366X768.
