Two laptops / home premium / windows 7.Now when I try to access it I am prompted for a Network user name and password, the same promt giving details of my domain. This is not my homegroup password, I know where and how to find / use it. I have renamed pc's tried setting up homegroup again etc etc. Incidently I cant change the share options on any of my folders now, they are all locked to 'Nobody'.Can anyone help as it appears to have support from Microsoft for their product I'll have to pay pardon my igronance but if I sold a product with constant updates I wont charge for the support.

Sep 27, 2009I set up a homegroup password and am on the "View and print your homegroup password" window. When I click on Print this Page, I get the following message:
Title bar: Your homegroup password couldn't be printed.
Text: An error occurred while Windows was trying to print your homegroup password. (Error code: 214750037)
The printer is an HP Laserjet 1200, connected directly to this computer via USB. The printer works fine otherwise; no print problems. Tried some of the troubleshooting tools, but they found nothing wrong.

Aug 17, 2011I installed Homegroup on a new laptop. I can access the other two computers in my house. however, when I try to access the new laptop from the other computers, I get a user id & password prompt.
I found out that the time on the new computer was one hour off, and it was set for "Turn on password protected sharing". Is it possible that the changes I made were not written to the registry?

Funny thing is that I can connect from my desktop TO my laptop but not the other way around. I've read and tried everything I can.

Apr 7, 2010What i mean is, if i drag or right click a file (picture, folder or film etc) and select delete, the file goes to the recycle bin no problem, but it appears to stay on the desktop too. It is definately in the bin also, if i select the file once in the bin it wont open because windows tells me it doesnt exsist so why is the icon left behind ? its anoying to have to refresh to see it dissapear.
Also emptying the bin of the file doesnt make a difference either. Icon remains.I have ran a virus check, spyware, malware etc... PC is as clean as a whistle.

Nov 6, 2009Latest NVidia drivers (not Beta) on Asus 8800 GT, Apple Cinema Display 23" monitor.
Frequently, when I open a program then close it, it will often leave a radio button on the screen. The button cannot be removed, moved, or clicked. The only way that I've cleared it was to change screen resolution, then revert back.
I am running Aero settings and themes. I have plenty of memory available and the computer runs fast enough with the bells and whistles running.
I'm guessing it's an issue with the driver and a newer driver may address it, but I guess it could be something else.
Anyone seen this or any ideas?

Aug 4, 2011Replaced my VGA cable with and HDMI cable because screen wouldn't leave power save mode due to lack of communication between tower and screen. HDMI solves that. Now I have no internet connection. No signs of life. Cable guy comes over plugs his laptop into the..box thing where the internet comes from... says the internet is working fine must be your computer and he leaves. So now that my screen is working I can trouble shoot - can't find a network adapter. I have no idea what that means, and it is not listed anywhere on my control panel list of drivers and things. Tried to reinstall whatever that is.. which is hard when your just guessing and clicking things. Bottom line is after using the drivers and devices disc and reinstalling everything that said "network" in the title there is still no signs of life. I don't have wireless so the whole adapter thing isn't making sense either.

My file and storage system is set up like this:
C: Drive - 120 GB SSD This is my Win 7 64-Bit Ultimate Boot drive. It has my most important Microsoft programs on it. Out of the 111GB available, I've used 42GB, leaving me 69GB free space. I want to keep this area open.
My next drive is a 1TB WD Caviar Black segmented into 3 partitions.
E: Drive = Program FIles This has the majority and rest of my programs. It also includes USERs Files. I've use 96GB out of 150GB. Out of that 96GB, 64GB are in USERS files.
F: Drive = Data Files. This stores all of my data except for media. I've used 91GB out of 350. I want to leave this be.
G:| Drive = Medsia FIles This stores all Media = Vids, Music, Graphics, Pictures. I've used 80 GB out of 500GB
I also have a 64GB ~ 55GB actual storage SSD drive that is partitioned but has no data on it or assigned drive letter.
Here is what I want to accomplish. i want to move my actual Program FIles to the 64GB SSD, assign it a drive letter, and keep the USERS files where they now reside on the F: dirve
My main concern is that in moving all these files around and splitting the USERS files from the Program Files that I'll mees up my Registry. Will someone please suggest some links I might read that will best help me acheive these moves.

Nov 19, 2009the display/monitor uses the generic driver for display and it is 1024×768 or 800x600 but it looks very odd it should be bigger because my screen is bigger. I have a acer monitor but is there something I can download to fix the display size?

Sep 22, 2012Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup.Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista.
