Homegroup Password Can't Be Printed
Sep 27, 2009
I set up a homegroup password and am on the "View and print your homegroup password" window. When I click on Print this Page, I get the following message:
Title bar: Your homegroup password couldn't be printed.
Text: An error occurred while Windows was trying to print your homegroup password. (Error code: 214750037)
The printer is an HP Laserjet 1200, connected directly to this computer via USB. The printer works fine otherwise; no print problems. Tried some of the troubleshooting tools, but they found nothing wrong.

I installed Windows 7 on my laptop, and I also have a desktop running Windows 7. I am trying to connect my laptop to my homegroup with the password for my homegroup, but my desktop will not reveal it. Is there any other place that I can find it?

Untill yesterday my homegroup was working just fine. Two laptops / home premium / windows 7.Now when I try to access it I am prompted for a Network user name and password, the same promt giving details of my domain. This is not my homegroup password, I know where and how to find / use it. I have renamed pc's tried setting up homegroup again etc etc. Incidently I cant change the share options on any of my folders now, they are all locked to 'Nobody'.Can anyone help as it appears to have support from Microsoft for their product I'll have to pay pardon my igronance but if I sold a product with constant updates I wont charge for the support.

I installed Homegroup on a new laptop. I can access the other two computers in my house. however, when I try to access the new laptop from the other computers, I get a user id & password prompt.
I found out that the time on the new computer was one hour off, and it was set for "Turn on password protected sharing". Is it possible that the changes I made were not written to the registry?

I'm trying to connect my Desktop and my laptop but my homegroup keeps asking for a user/password even though password protected sharing is turned off.
Funny thing is that I can connect from my desktop TO my laptop but not the other way around. I've read and tried everything I can.

I have a number of pre-printed forms with many blank spaces to be filled in. Rather than completing them all by hand, I would like to scan them into some software, like MS Word, then fill them in on the computer and then print them. I have Windows 7 Ultimate and an Epson Photo R200 printer.

Three days ago when I tried to print from the web and then WORD there was no installed printer. I checked and the printer was still installed but when printing a document the print screen said their was no printer installed. I checked and the print spooler was not working. So I downloaded the Microsoft toolMicrosoftFixit.Printing.Run.exe. I ran it and presto the printer worked but only once and when I went to print again, again the print box showed that there was no printer installed. So I have to run the Microsoft.Fixit.printing.run.exe tool every time I want to print a page then restart the computer. A royal pain and time waster.
Something is turning the spooler off and not allowing individual programs to see the installed printer and therefore reports that there is no installed printer.2nd issue. this is a new laptop (ACER) and there is no LED light to show "Caps Lock". I did find a setting that flashes the screen and makes an audible beep. However, my wife has the exact same computer and hers has a 2" x 2" box appear each time she puts cap Lock on. Which is way less distracting than audible beeps and flashing screens. Is there a setting for this? I have not found one in the Microsoft website for Windows 7.

I'm helping to develop a web application that uses iframes. On the main page (outside of all frames), we have a div that we use to display and print forms. We also have 2 nested iframes; the innermost iframe contains the main page content. When printing, we use extensive CSS and Javascript (contained in the outermost window) to hide everything except the print div. When I use File > Print Preview, it always displays the correct preview; that is, the outermost window which contains the print div. Printing from the Print Preview works as it should. However, when I use File > Print, it seems to print whatever window has focus, not the entire page (outermost window). Therefore my print div doesn't get printed and all I get is a printout of whatever is currently onscreen. Why doesn't the print out from File > Print match what is shown in the print preview?
A related issue occurs when using JavaScript's window.print(). When I call window.print from within the print div, it prints as it should. But when I call parent.parent.window.print() from within the double-nested iframe, IE still only prints the window that has focus, not the outermost window (as shown by "parent.parent."). And since they just clicked on a button in the innermost frame, the innermost frame has focus, my print div doesn't print and all I get is a printout of whatever is currently onscreen. I have been using "parent.parent" for all other Javascript calls from the nested iframe to the outermost, so I know that's not the problem.
My temporary solution is to focus on the outermost frame when the users mouses out of the nested window (ie, when they mouse up to the file menu) Code: window.onmouseout = parent.parent.window.focus(); and focus on the outermost frame when the user clicks the print button that is within the nested frame. I would really rather not do this focusing, especially on mouseout, because it seems to cause some issues when the user pulls up another application.I have also tried using the onbeforeprint event to focus. The onbeforeprint was triggered, but I couldn't get the focusing to work correctly.I haven't been able to find anything regarding these problems online; has anybody had similar problems?

I recently suffered a trojan virus attach and ultimately have changed my password on my email server.I have tried to reset it to the new password in Windows mail multiple times. It keeps reverting to the old password as the saved password, and I continually have to retype in the new password. I tried resetting the password to nothing, and rebooting, and the old password comes back again. There must be a preference file or an ini file that I can edit. Can I do that without loosing my address book, etc.?

I've always thought of networking as one of the black arts.
4 PCs - One Vista, 2 Windows 7 Home Premium, 1 Windows 7 Ultimate. All see each other. All have appropriate folders shared.
Try accessing A from B and I get "Enter Network Password (to connect to B)". I never set one up to start with, so why is it asking me for it. How do I access/change something I never set?
Try accessing B from A - I see the PC, and the folders I want but trying to access them results in "You do not have permissionto access folder names Contact your network administrator - who he? Obviously me but I don't know what the answer is!
Trying similar things with the other two PCs in the mix results in various permutations of the same problem.
I have tried all the various links suggested through Networking and Help, but most of the actions seem to be boxes to click to make the PCs try to sort themselves out. When it fails I can't find a manual way of trying to sort it out.
Any suitable tutorials that may help? Couldn't see any.

i have a pc (Windows 7 build 7100) that is connected to two printers (of which one prints (HP laserjet CP1215) and one only scans (no ink)) and it shares those printer.
My Windows 7 build 7600 (on my main pc) added the scan-printer without asking me and didn't add the other one (the only one I can print). I then disconnected this one from the other pc and looked again, no install here.
While I used build 7100 with my main pc too, it asked me: "Do you want to install HomeGroup printer?" and it worked like a charm.
Now I tried to manually add this printer and it asked me for a driver.
I installed the HP drivers but still, not working. Then, when it asked me again to point to the .inf file, i selected the one HP-driver-installation installed (to my C:Program files folder) but it said this driver is from a "non-certified" publisher (or something like this, sadly I can't reproduce this so I don't remember the exact words).
I clicked "install nonetheless" because I knew it was the right driver (printer prints perfectly from all other Windows 7 workstations).
Now when I try to connect to the printer (still not showing up in "Devices and printers" it tries to connect, looks for a driver, kinda finds one and then tells me, it can't connect.
I cannot even select a new driver or anything, I can only close the window.
On all my other pcs (I only use Windows 7 since the RC) it works and worked without problems. I miss the "Install Homegroup printer" prompt and well ...
any ideas?
ah well i installed 32bit versions of the driver and now i downloaded 64bit versions, but even after installing it doesn't work and as I've said before, I cannot manually select a driver inf file anymore, so ... I can't install the printer.

Microsoft had tried to get its "Castle" networking scheme into Windows Vista, but the feature will finally appear in Windows 7 as HomeGroup. Essentially a combination of workgroup networking with file and media sharing, HomeGroup makes it easier to create a home network where PCs share pictures, music, videos, documents, printers, and other resources with each other.

I have a laptop, HTPC, and a desktop, all connected to my internet wirelessly. All of the systems were connected to the homegroup perfectly last night, but then I started having problem this morning. The HTPC was connected to the homegroup, but unable to detect any of the computers. Same with the rest of them. So I left the homegroup from the HTPC thinking I could just reconnect. Big mistake. After that the only option that was available to me was to "create a new group". After many restarts and settings, I decided to create a new homegroup. I then left the original homegroup from my laptop, so that I could join the new homegroup, but alas, the same thing happens, I could not see the old homegroup from the desktop, or the new homegroup from the HTPC! The only option available to to create another new homegroup! I did the same thing again with my desktop, and now all three machines each on its own homegroup.

I was setting up a Homegroup on my friends Windows 7 network. A printer was connected via USB to one computer, and shared on the Homegroup. Printing was fine from the computer the printer was attached to, but when any of the other 3 computers tried to print to it, the document went into the printer queue, and then never printed, just sat in the queue. I tried for a hour or so, re-installing drivers, the homegroup, etc. I finally deleted the homegroup, shared the printer in the traditional manner, and it worked fine.
