View 2 RepliesMy brother has a laptop - wireless network card just stopped . I am going to:
1. Uninstall network card and reboot to see if the system picks it back up.
2. Update the drivers.
3. Check for Malware.
If they don't work then I'll do a restore point. If all the above doesn't work what would you suggest before getting a new network card - presuming it can be replaced and not an on board type ?? System recovery ?
I use TeamSpeak 3 and I was trying to talk, but friends could not hear me, everything is fine with TeamSpeak and I have done everything to help, like turning up the microphone volume on my laptop. It is an MSI Wind U135 DX (I don't know if the DX part counts or not),I am trying to download a driver off of the MSI website at this moment. *Edit* The driver did not work And by the way I am using Windows XP, it sucks but you know.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright so a year ago I bought a Lenovo PC and it came with Windows Home Premium 64-bit. Im now planning on putting together a new PC but using the same HDD. The only part I will be keeping thats from the original PC would be the HDD and possibly RAM. The windows copy is apparently OEM (According to Jellybean Keyfinder) so will I have any problems with this? If so what can I do to fix it?

I have recently built myself a PC (Windows 7, i5) and it's running fine except for one problem. Every now and again, when I've been away from it, I find that it's reset itself. I don't think it's overheating as the machine has two extra case fans and the temps seem fine. How should I go about starting to investigate this as it has never reset itself while I've been there.

I've since done a clean install and have both in.I've attached the dmp files from the two BSOD i've had since i have done the clean install. The only programs installed are Avast! 6.0.1000) and the software to run the wireless dongle (Netgear WG111v3) plus whatever came with Windows 7.I've ran dskchk and sfc /scannow with no errors reported. I've ran memtest86 and that returned no errors (though only ran once)The motherboard has MemtestOK! and that shows no errors.Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-V EVO USB3 (the latest drivers for the chipset, audio, graphics, lan and usb3 from the amd website have been installed)THe drivers for the wireless mouse and keyboard are install as is for the wireless dongle. The BIOS is the latest chipset as well.

View 9 Replies View Relateddv6 i7 HP with a webcam that used to work great inside the house. Now, the screen is just about all black except for the dim outline of a light using the HP TrueVision HD cam. Machine came with Cyberlink YouCam 3.5 and I updated it to 5.0 and still same thing. I really don't want to have to use the USB webcam which works fine inside the house. I went to device manager and found the HP TrueVision HD driver and updated it and it says that I have the latest driver. Maybe I should delete this and re-install? I went to an SSD which runs well but according to them it messes up the entire system and I am a bad customer. The problem existed before the SSD and I really do not wish to deal with HP tech any longer. BTW the cam shows up outside so something is screwy and I cant put my finger on it. I have adjusted all the settings up down and everywhere in between then back to default which always worked well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony vaio laptop running windows 7. Recently I restored it to a previous state, so I decided to create a password for my admin account. Once I completed the password set up I restarted my computer to see if my password will work. Well it didn't. I Got message "your account has been disabled please see admin" (or something like that). Im completely locked out of my computer. The only accounts pop up at the log in screen is the built in admin account and other user. I've tried putting it in safe mode (same result), I've tried the blank pswrd (same result) I've tried alt+clt+del (nothing pops up) and I've tried using my pswrd.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new computer for my brother, and as of yesterday, the system will only power on, and the only way to power it off is by either turning off the PSU or unplugging the power cable, neither of which I feel particularly comfortable doing.
When the computer's power is off, the power can be turned on by pressing the power button. However, when the computer is on, pressing or holding in the power button does nothing. If the shutdown option is chosen from the start menu, the computer will go through the standard shutdown sequence, and the monitor will go to sleep, but the fans in the computer will continue to run. If the power button is pressed at this point, the computer will act as if it is turning on normally and boot into Windows properly.
This problem started late last night. Prior to then, the computer would shut down and power off normally. No hardware changes were made to the system between the last successful power down and the time in which this issue started.
System hardware:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
RAM: 4GB DDR3 (Two 2GB sticks)
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition (3.3 GHz Dual Core)
PSU: Cooler Master RS-460-PSAR-J3
Motherboard: ASUS msq-m4n68t-mv2(b)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ES.2 500GB
GPU: NVidia GT250

View 3 Replies View RelatedQuestion about Windows 7 Ultimate's built in backup system.
If I create a full system backup of my "C" drive, then do a restore, will it just install the "C" drive partition only, or will it overwrite the entire HD, thus wipping the rest of the partitions? Not looking to have the other partitions wiped!
I did some looking around, but that question/issue doesn't seem to be addressed.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-13P and I cannot get my built in microphone to work. I know next to nothing about computers so I've been googling and messing around with settings to try and get it to work, I've even uninstalled and re-installed the sound and webcam drivers, but nothing is going on. Basically, I'm trying to use Skype and I can see and hear them, they can see me, they just cannot hear me. I've tried the tests and stuff on the computer seperate from Skype, but it's still not working. Also, I don't know if it helps at all but the microphone is Realtek HD Audio?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a little frustrated because the latest Creative X-Fi drivers say this: Added Features or Enhancements:
For systems using Windows 7 or Windows Vista
* What U Hear feature is enabled.
To find out the Product ID of your audio device and if it supports the following feature in Windows XP, click here.
* Dolby® Digital and DTS® decode re-established for sound cards that included decoding in their Windows XP drivers (Not applicable for products that included a 3rd party software DVD player license in the package). I've checked the compatibility, and my Xtreme Music supports this DD/DTS decoding.
However, in the audio console I do not have a decoder tab and my SPDIF I/O tab has the SPDIF drop-down grayed out and set to "Default". How do I get my X-Fi Xtreme Music to hardware decode DD/DTS? (under Windows 7).
There is no sound from the built in speakers, but when we use external speakers the sound is normal.

I'm not sure what to do since I can't "see" the device in device manager and I've downloaded a large number of drivers (anything audio related) but that does not seem to have fixed the issue. All I know is that I have an "array" microphone but besides that, not so much. Am I missing drivers? Are the webcam and mic drivers the same?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite a300 and it was originally with Win Vista.A month ago I installed 32-bit Win 7 and the only thing that doesn't work is the mic! As you can see on the picture: http://tinypic.com/r/ie1jxi/6 there are 2 mics and the one that is the default is the headset one, which I am forced to use. The other one is "currently unavailable" and I think this is the built-in one! It sounds really stupid that the built-in mic is unavailable (it shows it even if the headset mic is unplugged.)
