Jul 4, 2012So I am getting BSOD on startup of my newly built computer. This started occuring yesterday, 6 weeks after the computer was built. I am suspecting a hard drive failure (booting from a SSD)

Built New Computer And Getting Several BSOD?
Apr 8, 2011I've recently built my a Windows 7 desktop and i'm getting all kinds of blue screens.I have tried doing a clean install, i've done a system restore since then to when it was working best and i've still had BSOD.Originally it kept BSOD when i had two sticks of RAM in (at least once every 30 min) and worked fine when only one was in. I've since done a clean install and have both in.I've attached the dmp files from the two BSOD i've had since i have done the clean install.The only programs installed are Avast! 6.0.1000) and the software to run the wireless dongle (Netgear WG111v3) plus whatever came with Windows 7.I've ran dskchk and sfc /scannow with no errors reported. I've ran memtest86 and that returned no errors (though only ran once)The motherboard has MemtestOK! and that shows no errors.Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-V EVO USB3 (the latest drivers for the chipset, audio, graphics, lan and usb3 from the amd website have been installed)THe drivers for the wireless mouse and keyboard are install as is for the wireless dongle.The BIOS is the latest chipset as well.
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor 3.00GHz
4gb of RAM

Jul 5, 2011i built this computer on june 23rd, had zero issues. i oc'd it to 4.5ghz on the 25th, have been playing crysis 1, and nfs undercover with no issues. i've run both at the same time while running prime95, and having core temp up, averaging 53c.

listed above is all of my components.the crash happened while i was transferring files from my slave drive to my external drive.my cousin was using the computer, watching a video on Internet.the dump file is attached to this thread, i'd analyze it myself, but i haven't the slightest clue how.the bsod error said: stop 0x00000124

Nov 4, 2011I just put together this computer on the 2nd and since then I've blue screened 9 times. I've done some research and all the drivers are up to date, to the best of my knowledge, and I have installed all the updates from Windows Updates? I'm not sure what to try next.I downloaded the 'SF Diag Tool' and have attached both the minidump and the system information.

Jul 9, 2012I recently built a computer and am getting BSOD's on a relatively frequent basis. After checking around I have no idea what the problem could be. This is the first build I have ever done. Here is what I know: Using WhoCrashed, it tells me that in 5/6 crashes it was related to ntoskrnl.exe, and in the 6th is was related to ntkrnlmp.exe,The BSOD's are not recurring, that is I will get one, then go back and do the same thing I was doing before, and it will be fine.

Nov 6, 2011So I recently put together a computer for a friend of mine. We booted it up, and everything seemed to be fine. Unfortunately, he has been having intermittent BSOD crashes, often when installing new software (though not always). We've tried reinstalling Windows 7 (64 bit) several times, and I've had him run various RAM and hard drive diagnostics, which have (so far) not indicated any issues. My suspicions are beginning to point towards the motherboard or power supply, but honestly I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to analyzing dumps. I've attached the relevant dump files. I don't have a full list of hardware directly at my disposal, but if necessary I can have him run a dxdiag tomorrow.

Jun 14, 2012why a newly built PC keeps getting BSOD and doing random shutoffs. I have replaced the memory and MB and have tested with and without the video card or OB video. I have also tried a different PSU to see if that would help. I am leaning towards a bad CPU or incompatible memory, but wanted to see what you folks think first. Also, the system has been reloaded twice. The first time was a new install and then I reloaded everything after I installed the new MB.

Jul 27, 2012i used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.

Dec 30, 2011i have recently built a computer and i am experiencing frequent freeze-ups and bsod events with it. none of my previously built rigs have experienced this, and the most recent computer used several of the components currently in use, including the ssd, graphics card, case/ps, cpu cooler, and windows 7. [code] all of this has been assembled recently, though many of the components (listed above) have been in service for some time.nothing is overclocked.i have experienced more freeze ups than bsod. these have come at all different conditions, including web-browsing, watching video (both wm player and online Internet), downloading files while computer is unattended (i return and find computer unresponsive) and occasionally while gaming (mostly ms flight sim x). i have not determined a pattern.cooling is very good in the case, and the asrock board fan controllers maintain the cpu reported temp below 45c at idle and i have not seen the core temp above 60c in any situation other than a run of the program 'core damage'. i followed the directions for how to assemble a help thread for this forum, but i have not looked up any error codes yet (have not ever needed to with windows 7) so i will look into that in parallel.

I've noctice it usually resets and bsod after I logged into windows? if it doesn't crash in the first few minutes upon entering windows then it seems my system would be stable for hours on end.

May 6, 2009I attempted install of RC1 on a new hard drive and got as far
as "Completing Installation". System reboots and after logo goes
to black screen. No error codes.
Reboot and selected Safe Mode. Win 7 says "Can't complete installation
in Safe Mode".
Reboot, press F8, select Low Resolution. Same results. Black screen.

This machine runs Windows Vista Business with absolutely no problems.
This machine runs Mac OS X 10.5.6 with Absolutely no problems.
This machine runs Windows 7 Build 7000 with absolutely no problems.
I use a different hard drive for each operating system and I have
a brand new drive that I'm using to install Win 7. The drive I'm
using to install Win 7 can run Win 7 Build 7000 perfectly.
I do a clean install attempt to install RC1 and I get above results.
I reinstalled Win 7 Build 7000 on the same drive and just before boot
it says "Checking Vidoe card performance", then reboots and Win 7,
Build 700 is installed.
On clean install of Win 7, Rc 1 it appears to get to the exact same pont
(although I don't see the message about testing performance), reboots,
and gives black screen.
I have been on a couple of board and the predominant them is BSOD's
at boot for machines running Nvidia graphics. It would appear that RC1 has fouled up the Nvidia drivers.
I can't get into Low Res mode to load the approved 9800gt drivers from
EVGA so I can't complete the installation.
I'm hoping someone from Microsoft sees this and comments.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.

Apr 30, 2012This also happened to me (the BSODs) but not after installing RAM - I'm not sure what the error code was though, I upgraded my OS from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows 7 (I actually installed Windows 7 on a different partition) and didn't actually do an "upgrade" - but I wasn't sure if I should "uninstall" or delete the old Windows OS from the other partition. Not sure how to go about doing that - just by deleting, or having to clean registry keys, etc. I also had to install a new video card - since my previous one would not work right under Windows 7.

Once the computer has been up and running for about 10 minutes, after perhaps two boot attempts, I seldom BSOD until I boot up or restart again. When I start it - the Windows 7 splash screen appears, after a few seconds, every time, the BSOD appears. The error comes up very quickly (far, far too quick for to read).
I've tried booting from a different HDD (I'd did a Windows clone a while back to a (hybrid) SSD, so tried booting from the original HDD) - but still get the same problem - so I'm assuming not a Windows corruption or HDD problem?
Bsod On Startup After The Bios
Jan 24, 2010I've been having a problem recently with windows 7. Mainly on start-up.
After the bios and during the windows start up screen or even during the log in screen, I'll get a bsod either just a memory dump or Reference_by_pointer. I use the windows recovery on start up next boot and it does its thing. After the system restart windows logs in but then explorer.exe crashes and the desktop windows manager crashes.
Which leads to a BSOD (Reference_by_pointer). I would try to access the dump file or the file that windows dumps the error into but I cant access my system and safe mode boots up with no taskbar or icons and eventually blue screens.
I have ran Diagnostic tests on my HDD and RAM both check out. Also this doesn't just happen when im using my pc. Like when I re install windows its fine I can restart 100 times and it will still boot, but when I turn the system off for the night... well thats when it all goes south.

also using two WD 320GB caviar drives in a Raid 0 but b4 I got the raid set up this issue was happening.

Normally this problem was resolved by a simple restart but tonight about an hour before I posted this, the blue screen sent me back to startup but instead of giving me the usual "Security mode" and Regular Startup. BSOD During Startup When Installed 4GB Of Memory
Aug 4, 2012I decided to upgrade my computer and installed a new mb and processor. However with the new build the computer refuses to start up properly with more than 2Gb of memory installed. The machine runs fine with 1*2Gb of memory but as soon as I install a second stick I get a BSOD during windows startup.
Same thing happens if I install my graphics card. Memory sticks has been tested with memcheck86+ and individually they all work fine, in all slots. I can also run memcheck with 4Gb of memory installed without problems. BIOS is current as well as all drivers I can think of.
