View 1 RepliesI am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 and would like to transfer my Outlook calendar and contacts to another PC using the same versions of Windows and Outlook.
With XP and Office 2003, it was easy to export (and then mport) the calendar and contact files. How do I do this trasnfer with Windows 7/Outlook 2010?
I've got an old PC running WinXP and I have always used OE 6 on it but I DO have Outlook 2007 loaded onto the same machine.I want to migrate all my email and address book to my new machine running Win 7 Ultimate x64.I know I can either IMPORT the emails with Outlook 2007 from OE.OR. I can EXPORT the emails using using OE 6.... correct ?I read somewhere that if I used the Import function I woul dlose the date/time stamp on my old emails. Is that true ?To Import the OE emails thru Outlook and then back the pst up and move it to my new machine.... or us e the Export function on EO to try to export the email to Outlook ?And once I get the email and addresses into Outlook 2007 on my old machine, should I use a Memory stick to move them to the new machine or try to use the Windows Easy Transfer and an easy transfer cable (which I already have)?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just brought a new dell laptop, and office professional. I have tried to set up a pop email in outlook 2010, but I did it wrong, so I deleted it and started again, but instead of creating a new one it called it (2) not just the normal name. I have gone through the process and it says it works, but theres nothing coming into my inbox, and what I think is happening is that its going to the original inbox of the one that I named wrongly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just set up Microsoft 2010 this week and was configuring Outlook 2010. After everything was done, I found that every time I send an email, a copy of it is automatically sent to my inbox. This would normally be fixable by applying a rule (every email I send to my own account be automatically deleted or something to that extent), but this email account is for the entire company, and they are still being forwarded the copies that I send.
Would this issue have anything to do with me using 2010 and my co-workers using 2007? Or maybe because we're using gmail, which hasn't been confirmed to work with Outlook 2010?
i can load my gmail but not my yahoo. also, pls advise how can i merge contact list that i imported from my old outlook to my new main contact list.

I would not ask for help if it was only 1 email account but I am running 3 email account from Outlook and I can't remember the settings of 2 of them as it is... it has been a while Office 2010 backup method suck from here to the Moon since you may be able to export your Data but NOT the settings. 1st thing I tried was Backrex Demo, it did its job on the XP side of things but on the Win 7 side it tells me that it does not find my outlook even though it is installed. Heck, I even installed the one I do remember but to no avail... Backrex told there was no Outlook installed.

I have an old XP laptop which I was using Outlook Express for one of my mail accounts (a work account). I also ran regular Outlook for another (personal). I want to have both of these accounts on my new PC.
My new PC is running Windows 7 wiht Office 2007. I used the Windows transfer cable and things worked failry well. My regular Outlook files all came over well, but nothing for Outlook Express.
I really would like to take this time to somehow export my OE files into my Outlook 2007. I would really like to keep the account which imported in on Outlook seperate.
Question 1: Is there a way to import my OE files into Outlook 2007?
Question 2: Is there a way to have two seperate email accounts in Outlook without combining them? Basically I want to have a work email and a personal and keep them seperate.
If I can't have two seperate emails with Outlook, can anyone suggest something which would allow me to export my old Outlook (the old personal emails) into another program so that I can at least use my work email on Outlook 2007?
I have a new W7, 64bit, machine. I'm using Windows Live Mail because Outlook is no longer included with Windows Office (which I bought).Everything is working well. I can't see how to get the messages into WLM.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is quite a complex operation and MS doesn't actually explain how to do it so here goes.
The trick is to get your email messages into Outlook Express (OE on XP) or Windows Mail (on Vista) before you can import into Windows Live mail. Then the import can be done directly.
There isn't any way currently to import mail directly from Outlook to Windows Live Mail so you have to do it indirectly BEFORE installing Windows 7.
1) even if you don't use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (VISTA) you need to have them running on the same machine as your copy of OUTLOOK.
2) create (if you haven't already) email accounts in OE or Windows mail identical to those you have in Outlook.
3) Now import your messages from Outlook into OE or Windows Mail.
4) Change the Store Identity in OE or Windows mail to a disk that your Windows 7 can read (do this under Maintenance - data storage locations in OE or Windows Mail).
Doing this saves you having to install Live Mail on Vista or XP
5) Logon to your Windows 7 system and install Windows Live mail.
6) Set up your email accounts
7) File ==> import==>messages
8) Chose Outlook express or Windows mail depending on step 3)
9) Browse to the directory where you stored the messages in step 4)
10) Job done.
A bit fiddly but obviously MS don't want to make it easy for people to switch from Outlook
Note also the "Send and Receive" function is calles "SYNC" in Windows Live mail -- confusing but there it is.
If you also installed Windows Messenger you can prevent it from starting automatically at startup by going to the Orb ==>acessories==>run. type msconfig and unclick windows messenger in the start up box.
There doesn't appear to be ANY method of importing mail directly from Outlook 2003/2007.

I've been trying to create a Task in Outlook from a Word Document that I have created on this computer. The idea is that a shortcut to the document is created as an Outlook Task. Click on the shortcut, and voila - there is the document. The "Create Microsoft Office Task" icon DOES send the document to Outlook as a Shortcut in a Task, however, when I open the task, Outlook says:"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: Shortcut to 'document name'."It's NOT an unsafe attachment; Outlook WILL OPEN this document if I send it as an email attachment. Outlook will open .docx files types.
I am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed, steps taken 1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb. 2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder. 3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file. Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails?

I am starting to think strongly in encrypting my email. I am already encrypting data using true crypt. Now it is time for mail for me and my correspondents.
I am using Outlook 2010 (32 bit) on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and I would like to use GnuPG for encryption. The problem is that I need a plugin that works with Outlook 2010
When i switch language to russian and start typing in Outlook nothing happens. When i hit space bar few times then it starts writing and randomly stops in between. Cant guess when it stops and again hit space bar and type it goes on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded windows live mail earlier today and noticed it was 2011 version. The main reason I don't want that version - first, the look is ugly, second, we can't put stationery in it. It does not have the format button on top to download stationery, and I really enjoy doing that with my friends, especially during holidays. When I went out to download Windows Live 2010, it kept giving me 2011 or it came to this discussion board. So hi there, can you help me? I uninstalled the 2011 version, and actually uninstalled all of Windows Live Essentials 2011. Did I remove too much or can you still help me get the mail version I'm looking for?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter a clean install of Windows 7, I installed Office 2007. I also installed Windows Live Mail not to use it as an e-mail client, but only as an intermediate to import mail accounts. Therefore, I imported all my many e-mail accounts to Windows Live Mail from previously saved IAF files. Until here all worked as expected. The problem is that now, when I try to "Import internet mail account settings" from Windows Live Mail to Outlook it just answers "No internet accounts were found to import". How come?
Can someone please instruct me on how to overcome this problem, please?
I recently had to restore my computer after the hard drive crashed. I reinstalled windows 7 and office 2010, including outlook. Since then, nothing has run well. Outlook will not search and I cannot get the indexing to work. I have not been able to complete a windows update and the troubleshooting doesn't work either. In addition, iTunes was unable to load properly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter pressing "send/receive" pretty often my Outlook 2010 stops responding, blue ring is spinning and if I click anyplace I'm getting "fog" over screen. When I want to close program, Outlook offers to find fix or restart or shut off, if I choose fix it is searching and after while is restarting program. I have talked to Microsoft techs, they checked, everything was fine, and suggested to restart Outlook if it will happen again. I do not think this is the way how Outlook 2010 should work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing problems with 'Windows Live Mail' so decided to migrate to 'Outlook'. I have managed to export/import accounts and messages. For some reason the export of contacts worked only as far as creating a CSV file though a few (say half a dozen) addresses did import OK.My main problem though is that despite my setting 'Outlook' as the default mail client 'Windows Live Mail' is still grabbing it all. I have been loathe to remove the accounts totally from WLM as I still cannot import my contacts fully I have a nasty feeling that the continued presences of 'WLM' may well be why I cannot get 'Outlook' to operate correctly though I can send mail from it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI exported my 32 bit outlook express folder (with .dbx files) from my old desktop (xp pro) to my flash drive and copied the folder to the desktop of my laptop (windows 7 64bit). I then imported the contents of the outlook express folder from my win7 desktop to my windows live mail, the folders/files copied across into win livemail. My problem is that I cannot see these mail files on windows live mail, even though they copy accross they are not viewable.I have been at this for a week now, done a zillion searches to alleviate this problem to no avail.very frustrating.I have noticed that heaps of others are having the same prob. Its a shame Microsoft doesn't get off there butts and do a fix.

I set up this brand new pc with Windows 7 last night and so far, I'm not a big fan. I really knew my way around windows xp....this is total culture shock. Where is everything? But I digress. I tried to set up Windows Live Mail as a replacement for Outlook Express. I followed the instructions exactly. The messages appeared to transfer, but in the end all I have is a bunch of empty folders. I tried several times.
