I've got an old PC running WinXP and I have always used OE 6 on it but I DO have Outlook 2007 loaded onto the same machine.I want to migrate all my email and address book to my new machine running Win 7 Ultimate x64.I know I can either IMPORT the emails with Outlook 2007 from OE.OR. I can EXPORT the emails using using OE 6.... correct ?I read somewhere that if I used the Import function I woul dlose the date/time stamp on my old emails. Is that true ?To Import the OE emails thru Outlook and then back the pst up and move it to my new machine.... or us e the Export function on EO to try to export the email to Outlook ?And once I get the email and addresses into Outlook 2007 on my old machine, should I use a Memory stick to move them to the new machine or try to use the Windows Easy Transfer and an easy transfer cable (which I already have)?
I am having problems importing a customer's address book from Outlook Express (XP) to Windows Live Mail (7). The addresses are being (mostly) split into each individual entry: some are just physical addresses, some email addresses, some phone numbers. I searched on your forum here and did not find the answer to the problem (indeed, I didn't see anyone else having it!) so I thought I'd ask to see if you've heard of anything like this.
I am migrating from an XP SP3 desktop to a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I use Outlook Express extensively on the XP machine, but have loaded Live Mail on the Windows 7 one as the recommended solution. I have experimented with the Import function in Live Mail using the .dbx files produced by OE held under 'Identities' but find that the Account field for each email (visible in Live Mail when the Account column is enabled) is not being populated in Live Mail. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? I note that any new emails I receive do populate the Account field, and I am confident that the Account information is present in the .dbx files.
I downloaded the new wdos mail program. After discovering there was no way to import my contacts, old emails, calendar from Outlook, I removed the program.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have I missed something. Would like to try the new mail program to see if it's an improvement.
I set up this brand new pc with Windows 7 last night and so far, I'm not a big fan. I really knew my way around windows xp....this is total culture shock. Where is everything? But I digress. I tried to set up Windows Live Mail as a replacement for Outlook Express. I followed the instructions exactly. The messages appeared to transfer, but in the end all I have is a bunch of empty folders. I tried several times.
I am moving into a new system. How do I transfer all my settings in Task Manager to the new system. I have 25 of them, all tediously set the way I want them?Is there not a way to do export/import them all as a single transfer?
I have an old XP laptop which I was using Outlook Express for one of my mail accounts (a work account). I also ran regular Outlook for another (personal). I want to have both of these accounts on my new PC.
My new PC is running Windows 7 wiht Office 2007. I used the Windows transfer cable and things worked failry well. My regular Outlook files all came over well, but nothing for Outlook Express.
I really would like to take this time to somehow export my OE files into my Outlook 2007. I would really like to keep the account which imported in on Outlook seperate.
Question 1: Is there a way to import my OE files into Outlook 2007?
Question 2: Is there a way to have two seperate email accounts in Outlook without combining them? Basically I want to have a work email and a personal and keep them seperate.
If I can't have two seperate emails with Outlook, can anyone suggest something which would allow me to export my old Outlook (the old personal emails) into another program so that I can at least use my work email on Outlook 2007?
I have a new W7, 64bit, machine. I'm using Windows Live Mail because Outlook is no longer included with Windows Office (which I bought).Everything is working well. I've imported the contacts from Outlook 2003 into WLM, no problem. How can I export the messages from Outlook into WLM.It's a new machine and came with a trial version of Windows Outlook 2007 installed so I opend it and imported the messages from the old Outlook 2003 into the new Outlook 2007 on the new machine, now I'm stuck. I can't see how to get the messages into WLM.
I have installed Win 7 and Win Live Mail.I have my old OS (Vista) on a secondary Hard Drive and have managed to import all the messages from the old drive. Now I want to obtain my list of contacts but cannot see how. I have trawled through this question via the search box search and the nearest answer is to export them first. Unfortunately I did not do that.
I have - quite stupidly, as I now think - installed Windows Seven on my old Vista on my Laptop without thinking about the Mail program at all. That is: neither did I make a backup nor did I export contact lists from Windows Mail, etc.
I was, however, able to import most of the stuff from Windows Mail into Windows Live Mail anyway. I took ownership of both Windows Mail folders (in C:Program Files and C:Program Files(x86) including subs 'n files, and tried the import function in Windows Live Mail - three times, I think.
I can't really tell whether or not all my messages are there, yet I can say for sure that what I find in the Storage Folders section in Windows Live Mail reproduces only a part of the filing system I had established in Windows Mail. That is to say: A lot of the folders I used to have in Windows Mail are simply missing. Are the messages that used to be in there missing, too? No idea so far... they might be in the Inbox or somewhere else.
To be sure, I have everything, that is: all my messages, on my webmail-account. Yet it took me forever to work out my huge filing system (including all the message rules, etc.) in Windows Mail which allows me to have more folders than my webmail account that is for some reason limited to 258 folders. So even although I know that in the end I do have all the messages on my webmail, I would just hate to have to do all that work again! Thus I'd just love to "simply" get my Webmail stuff imported as it was.
Any ideas what I might have done wrong? ...what I could do to retrieve the missing folders?
Alternatively: Is there any way to "simply" (I know what you're thinking...) reactivate Windows Mail in Windows 7 so that I can start over by properly exporting everything from there?
I have found some related topics but did not see anyone having this particular problem. If I simply overlooked it, sorry! At any rate: I'd appreciate any help you can offer!
I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 and would like to transfer my Outlook calendar and contacts to another PC using the same versions of Windows and Outlook.
With XP and Office 2003, it was easy to export (and then mport) the calendar and contact files. How do I do this trasnfer with Windows 7/Outlook 2010?
I just performed a clean install of Windows 7 and need to import my old email messages and contacts. I have the pst file on my backup drive. How do I import please?
I got Office 2007 Ultimate/W7U reinstalled on my new build and all of the Office programs and data transferred fine except with Outlook data Contacts/Calandar/Email & Settings, etc. I had to manually export the OneNote data to the new install but don't see anything like that for Outlook. How do import this data into Outlook?
Just installed Windows 7 And I'm looking around for an answer on how to import my emails and address book.I was on XP and Made the Backup of my Address Contact File and also the Outlook Express Folder.
First, I tried to get Outlook 2010 to see my .dbx folders from Outlook Express, it wouldn't.I then migrated my OE mail to WLM. I then tried to both export my mail to Outlook 2010 and Import from Outlook 2010. When importing, Outlook only saw the welcome mail message but didnt see anything else.I should add that I copied my old (2007 Outlook.pst) file into Outlook 2010's store directory. I am not sure if this is why I am unable to import my mail.
Have a bunch of old emails sorted in Thunderbird 10 as "Local Folders" and would like to access them (or reasonable copies thereof) in Outlook 2010. Can't figure out how to export fro TBird in a format the Outlook can import. Can't find any official help. Can't cope anymore, just can't.
I have formatted my HD and installed office 2010.Before formatting I exported my contact persons (Outlook 2003) to a pst file, and now I try to import them to my new Outlook, but no matter what I do, nothing happens.
Ive just installed outlook 2011 on my mac and accidentally downloaded al the mails from the server. So I have 0 mails left on my live account but they I do have them in outlook 2011. I want to reverse it, but outlook 2011 can only export .olm or .eml files.
I have had Windows Mail up and running since day one of installing Windows 7 but I just tried to import our messages(Inbox, Sent, Draftes ect...) into it but it doesn't see the files in the saved folders. All files and folders were succesfully saved via Export Messages in Vista's Windows Mail. I also tried finding the folders manually within Windows Mail in Windows 7 thinking I could just copy and past the messages into the files but couldn't find them(thought like vista it would be in the hidden "Application Data" folder but it was not...
I used to use Outlook with Vista. Within Outlook before I did a clean install of Windows 7 I saved all my existing emails and address books. I saved them to disk.
I did a clean/custom install of Windows 7 from a upgrade disk. I now have installed Thuderbird and have in up and running with my emails accounts. But now needs to Import my old Outlook emails and address books from DISK into Thunderbird.
As I go into Import in Thunderbird and choose import from file it is not findingmy files on disk or letting me inport from my disk. The other options are import from Outlook, which I no longer have since I did a clean install.
I do have Vista in my C drive as an "old" OS file. get the emails and address imported into Thunderbird from my disk file.
I created a folder called contacts ad exported all 1100 contacts into that folder. I copied that folder to another computer but for the life of me I can't figure out how to import these contacts into Live Mail, Windows 7. I guess it isn't saved as a wab file, just a bunch of contacts in a folder.
Is it just me or are you not able to import accounts into Live Mail. I have just done a fresh install for Win 7 RTM (was on RC) and I exported my mail accounts beforehand using Live Mail using the export option from the menu. However, upon reinstalling there is no import options for accounts only Messages?? Why have an export option without having an import option... Is there a way around this.
I read how to import vista mail contacts to windows 7 (using windows Live), but how do you import(?) vista mailboxes (sent, deleted, saved, etc)?? Also, can you continue to have a microsoft news reader in windows 7 and can one import those also in some fashion?
