View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a new laptop I've owned since Fall. Its specs are provide below. A while ago its volume adjustment buttons (fn + volume up or down) stopped working. I've been using the desktop toolbar to adjust the sound which is of course very inconvenient. Now in the last week, the volume icon will not show up in the toolbar and I have to reboot often to get it to show, even though the icon and notification are both enabled.I have run malware bytes and super anti-spyware and the latter removed some malware. View 4 Replies View RelatedLet me start by saying that both my LAN and WAN (Internet) connections are working perfectly. I get full speed on the Internet, and the 4 machines in my house, 2 XP, 1 Vista, and this one which is Win 7, are networked and seeing each other without any issues. I even have my Canon MX860 connected to all machines wireless, although Windows 7 cannot use it because Canon has not released a network driver for Windows 7 yet and the Vista driver doesn't work. I use it connected via USB on the Windows 7 machine.
I have cable Internet and I am using a DLINK DIR-655 Wireless router. The main PC with the issue is wired, the others are wireless.
For some weird reason, there is a red X on my network icon. I have been unable to figure it out and as I said there are no problems with the network at all.
I am using Windows 7 RC 7100.
Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, did you find a fix?
my web cam is working but its icon is not visible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a problem with my WiFi. Left-clicking the wireless icon in system tray doesn't work as in literally nothing happens. When I open the network and sharing center and click on "connect to a network" then also nothing happens. Right now it's only a minor problem, because my laptop auto-connects to networks it already knows but when I want to connect to a public WiFi in a cafe for example I can't look up any networks. Also I'd like to point out that setting up a new connection to connect to a WiFi works but for that I need to already know the network name and security type. Windows can't find any problems either and I've reinstalled all network adapter drivers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.

This process installed a printer locally and the associated icon was the correct icon. I then set it up wirelessly and when it completed...the icon looked like a fax machine.
The icon I want to use exists somewhere.

I have recently downloaded 'paint.net' to windows 7 and the icon keeps disappearing. Not necesarily on a restart but just over night or during the day at random. The program is still listed and works and it is on my start menu when I click on the windows icon in the bottom left corner. I have tried refreshing and still can't keep the shortcut on the desktop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I had installed Drop Box, almost all my icons now have those annoying drop box additions the green check mark, and the blue marks. I cannot get rid of them, even after uninstalling DB. This happens to jpg, pdf, ppt, doc, and just about any type of a document or image file.
Even files that do not show the stupid check mark, etc, will do so after I re-order or refresh a window.
is there any way to change the icon in windows 7? i am in the general tab, and don't see anything close to personalization settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently was trying some different methods to transfer files from my desktop to my laptop, and I started up Windows Easy Share. I realized it wasn't what I wanted about halfway through and quit out, but since then my E:\ partition (personal files) has something similar to the shortcut overlay that simply will not go away. It's an icon with two of those windows styled people with the crewcuts and green shirts my guess is that is how it got there, as it was not there prior.I have also tried using the How To Geek recommended program for icon switches of drives on Windows 7 to no avail.
