Get A Black Screen With The Mouse Icon Visible And Movable?
Jan 16, 2012Upon starting the laptop it goes through the standard Starting Windows screen and then i get a black screen with the mouse icon visible and movable however the logon prompt never appears. The same happens when starting in safe mode however an error is displayed stating:Logonui.exe : The Application was unable to start correctly 0x000006 I have performed a chkdsk on the drive and also run windows repair performing startup repair that found no issues. No restore points have been created so cant try that either.t command prompt i have tried:bootrec /fixbootbootrec /fixmbrall to no avail.Other than recovering the users data and re installing the machine from scratch is there any trickery i can perform?

Sep 9, 2011In a (successful) attempt to correct WGA registration problem I did a Windows Repair.
I used Windows Backup and saved it to my external hard drive. Now I have almost identical files and folders there and on the now visible Recovery drive. TBUH, when making the backup several options appeared and I checked one without being 110% sure it was right.
Did possibly I do something not right? What need I do to correct anything wrong, including which folders and files I may safely delete? What advice do I need for future?
Cannot Connect To Internet - Icon No Longer Visible On System Tray
Jan 9, 2012I have an HP Desktop computer and I cannot connect to the internet. The problem started with my mouse not working well then my keyboard so we replaced them (that was a month ago). Then strange thing started to happen, a ticking sound started to sound every few minutes. Apart from that, the computer seems well and functions properly. Then one day when I tried to turn it on, the screen looks different. I am referring to what I usually see on my screen whenever I turn it on. My pc is running on windows 7 but right now it looks like its on XP. Plus I cannot connect to the internet. The icon is no longer on the systems tray and when I tried to do the following:
System restore
Network troubleshooting
It wont allow me, when I do system restore it will say A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error. Check the application event log for more information (0x80042302).

Sep 10, 2009Let me start by saying that both my LAN and WAN (Internet) connections are working perfectly. I get full speed on the Internet, and the 4 machines in my house, 2 XP, 1 Vista, and this one which is Win 7, are networked and seeing each other without any issues. I even have my Canon MX860 connected to all machines wireless, although Windows 7 cannot use it because Canon has not released a network driver for Windows 7 yet and the Vista driver doesn't work. I use it connected via USB on the Windows 7 machine.
I have cable Internet and I am using a DLINK DIR-655 Wireless router. The main PC with the issue is wired, the others are wireless.
For some weird reason, there is a red X on my network icon. I have been unable to figure it out and as I said there are no problems with the network at all.
I am using Windows 7 RC 7100.
Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, did you find a fix?

When I open the network and sharing center and click on "connect to a network" then also nothing happens. Jun 21, 2012I've got a newish HP notebook and I frequently use skype for voice and video chatting with friends and family; however, It recently has stopped working for no apparent reason. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I did notice that the webcam stopped working after I updated skype recently. The microphone also now works intermittently.. If I initiate a call with skype, my microphone will not work, but if I make a test call to the echo test service it works, and then works subsequently on my call afterwards. If I go to initiate any type of video exchange, a picture of youcam displays as my webcam image asking to start my webcam as seen here in this picture from my skype webcam settings This also shows when trying to use my webcam on chatroulette, omegle, etc.Here, when I start the youcam program itself I get this error message If I go to tools and settings in the youcam program (which I can only access when I start the program via skype?) I click the dropdown menu to select my webcam device but no options show.
Here is a picture of my device manager, which suddenly displays no evidence of the hardware, even after scanning for hardware changes. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with someone from HP support and got no where. They tried to remote connect to my computer using some sort of HP support software instead of windows remote connect. They could never connect and told me I need to backup everything on my computer and format it!? Does this sound normal? I said never mind and hung up, I figure there has to be an easier way to deal with this. Perhaps if I cannot find a solution here I will take that step but figured I would try here first.

Built In Webcam Not Working Well?
Apr 20, 2012dv6 i7 HP with a webcam that used to work great inside the house. Now, the screen is just about all black except for the dim outline of a light using the HP TrueVision HD cam. Machine came with Cyberlink YouCam 3.5 and I updated it to 5.0 and still same thing. I really don't want to have to use the USB webcam which works fine inside the house. I went to device manager and found the HP TrueVision HD driver and updated it and it says that I have the latest driver. Maybe I should delete this and re-install? I went to an SSD which runs well but according to them it messes up the entire system and I am a bad customer. The problem existed before the SSD and I really do not wish to deal with HP tech any longer. BTW the cam shows up outside so something is screwy and I cant put my finger on it. I have adjusted all the settings up down and everywhere in between then back to default which always worked well.
